Title: Dark Shadows Post by: Threash on March 26, 2012, 07:39:50 PM I never watched the original show, but this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTjD3rV27Go) certainly looks fun.

Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Lakov_Sanite on March 26, 2012, 09:50:01 PM Is it right to want to grudge fuck a movie?
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: shiznitz on March 27, 2012, 06:21:24 AM That cast could pull it off.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: 01101010 on March 27, 2012, 06:50:36 AM Depp in another Tim Burton movie? Yeah, I am game... for whatever reason, it works.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Mrbloodworth on March 27, 2012, 06:54:23 AM Lots of people knocking the tailor for being "To Tim Campy".
I never watched the original series, so I don't care. Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: luckton on March 27, 2012, 07:02:01 AM I remember listening to an article about this series on "This American Life" about a month ago. Sounds like this the goth/emo version of Star Trek.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Lakov_Sanite on March 27, 2012, 07:18:32 AM The original was a very dull British drama which supposedly had "monsters" in the cast but was so low budget that there were no special effects and rarely anything to do with them actually being supernatural creatures. Imagine if Dracula sat at home for an hour and talked about the weather, it was kinda like that.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: luckton on March 27, 2012, 07:26:45 AM So, I was right. Emo/goth 70s version :why_so_serious:
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Ingmar on March 27, 2012, 07:33:13 AM Goth maybe. They don't really have anything to do with each other, as an FYI.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: sickrubik on March 27, 2012, 07:55:40 AM This reminds me of how much it pisses Lydia Lunch off to be referred to as "goth" because she wears black clothing.
Also, that trailer looks fucking terrible. I used to look very much forward to Burton films, but after watching Beetlejuice and Ed Wood recently, again.... he's lost his mojo, as it were. It also doesn't help that I was a pretty big fan of the original series. This strikes me too much of LAWL WE'RE IN THE SEVENTIES. Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Ruvaldt on March 27, 2012, 08:42:30 AM Yeah, which is even more bizarre considering the original soap was canceled in 1971 and isn't generally associated with the '70s. I've never watched the series so I don't have a dog in this fight, but that trailer was thoroughly unentertaining.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: HaemishM on March 27, 2012, 11:49:47 AM The trailer looked fucking atrocious. Hey, I know, let's do the Addams Family again, only make it in the '70's and loosely base it on a late 60's era soap opera that had nothing whatsoever to do with the '70's and that some people liked. And since it's got a vampire in it, we'll get Tim Burton to direct it and Johnny Depp to act crazy in it. YEAH MONEY!!!
Fuck you, Tim Burton. I'm not even a big fan of the original (I did like the remake NBC did a decade or so back) and I'm insulted. Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Ingmar on March 27, 2012, 11:51:42 AM the remake NBC did a decade or so back Try 20 years ago, old man. Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: HaemishM on March 27, 2012, 11:52:52 AM Goddamn, I'm old.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Lakov_Sanite on March 27, 2012, 12:04:31 PM I think though, that there needs to be some props for making him a very nosferatu-esque vampire.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: sickrubik on March 27, 2012, 01:22:22 PM I think Tim Burton would have, himself, burst into flames if he did it any other way.
Title: Re: Dark Shadows Post by: Mrbloodworth on May 20, 2012, 03:11:25 PM Watched it, really liked it. Fun stuff.
