Title: Awake
Post by: Threash on March 05, 2012, 07:31:14 PM
Did anyone else catch this? i hope it lasts, i am completely hooked after the first episode.  And holy fuck Laura Allen does not look 38, i looked her up on IMDB because i thought she looked way too young for the role and my jaw hit the floor.

Oh yeah, it's about a guy who gets into a car accident and everytime he goes to sleep he switches from a reality in which his wife died and his son lived to viceversa.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I didn't even realize he was Lucius Malfoy until my wife pointed it out.

I completely forgot about that, i kept describing him as "the bad guy from The Patriot".

Yeah, this was pretty good. At first I wasn't sure how they could maintain the premise over a whole season, but just from the first episode it looks like shit's going to change/evolve/nothing is what it seems/etc.

Thanks for posting about this. I had meant to set my TiVo to record it but had forgotten. (It's not too late to catch the pilot on SyFy or G4.)

Enjoyed the pilot, gave me a Journeyman vibe which means I'll get into it and then NBC will cancel it.

For what is worth, the pilot was VERY well done, and the interpretation by the main actor was top notch and very intense.

On the other hand, it's NBC, so cancellation is forthcoming :P

It's already on a shortened schedule since it's a mid-season replacement so even if the ratings aren't good it's unlikely NBC would cancel the show before the season ends unless reruns of another show would make them more money.

Who the fuck wrote this? David Cage?

Caught up on a bunch of episodes of this, and outside of a couple skips the acting and writing remain top notch. Police work takes a distant back seat to character drama and world-design, and I have absolutely no idea how they sustain the premise for more than a season... but it's an impressive ride.

Just in case there is anyone still watching this, canceled. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/11/awake-canceled-nbc-best-friends-forever_n_1510531.html)

Gah. This is why I've more or less stopped watching new shows. I got suckered into watching Awake, and actually enjoyed it.

I loved it, but they were stretching their premise very thin and I'm not sure the drama could survive much more of it. Better to have one great season (which they did) than to watch this bury itself in complex plotting, unnecessary extensions, and awkward repetition. I think I'll pick it up on DVD and loan it out to my friends who missed it.

I enjoyed it but couldn't see how it might last much longer without resorting to gimmicks. The end seemed weak and rushed.

Yeah the ending was unfortunate, great show though.  I would have liked to have seen where they would have gone for another season at least.

I found the premise interesting.
