Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: lamaros on January 25, 2012, 04:58:01 AM I have never been more angry! Never!
The final two overtime turns were pretty epic. Some bullshit from the gods to give us both a chance, then some bullshit to take it away. With some errors thrown in for the crowd to rue as well! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=vfDLjuzaOCI#t=135s Dunno how to get the popup to go to the right time. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Comstar on January 25, 2012, 05:03:59 AM Holy nuffle. I mean holllllllyyyyy nuffle. That was...nothing but nufffle.
I made more dodges than I do with my Amazons..apart from a 4 turn streak where I failed a 3+ dodge every turn with a reroll. 1st TD - Dodge, push, block - pow, ball scatters into TD zone, push - dodge - pick up, TD. 2nd TD in overtime 2nd last turn- I'm 3 players down. The ball is covered by the other team, but on the side line. I make a double GFI, push a player onto the ball, it goes into the crowd and is thrown back into the TD zone. I fail a dodge to get someone at it. Lamaros then rolls double skulls. Last turn, I make a blitz, gfi, gfi, pick up, TD with no rerolls. Friendship IS magic, because I can't explain the game any other way. Match uploaded as day 8 My Little Beasties | 2 - 1 | Lovers, Fighters Teams

More nuffle action: Overtime begins. We both have 0 rerolls. I win one on the kickoff event! Yesss! Comstar tries to make a pass. Failed catch, bounce, falls into the hands of another player (who doesn't have block) catch! He runs free! GFIs to get some protection in. Then one final GFI for extra support. Failed! I then have to blitz his ball carrier. Linda is up! Block, MB, Claw, Foul Appearance v Leader! What a doddle! But wait, what's this? Double skulls? But I have a reroll! Yes! Use it! Double push... I swear there was someone on the other end choosing what the dice would be, the game was crazy. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: lamaros on January 25, 2012, 05:18:35 AM Also, different playstyles by the numbers:
Comstar: 20/36 attempted dodges Lamaros: 1/2 attempted dodges Comstar: 36/39 attempted GFIs Lamaros: 6/8 attempted GFIs 103 D6 rolls v 29 41 2D6 rolls v 86 59 block dice v 172 Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Teleku on January 25, 2012, 08:05:37 AM Odd, that sounds exactly like the game I played against him. :oh_i_see:
Maybe I should just lose my match, I'm not sure if I want to face those dice again! Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Comstar on January 25, 2012, 08:48:20 AM My dodging beastmen got -1AG apoced to -1MV, rest were badly hurts. One of mine got a skill up, 2 of his.
Watch the replay - Larmous kept giving me one chance to blitz the ball carrier with some dodges and GFI's and I'd take it every time. Hey are these teams eligible for the main league? Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Ruvaldt on January 25, 2012, 09:07:03 AM Hey are these teams eligible for the main league? They aren't at the moment. I'm trying to talk to Falc about it though. My opinion: since all of the games are played against f13 Blood Bowlers one should be able to do it as long as the team still meets the TV1300/no money/11 players standard and has never played a single game outside of f13 Blood Bowl. Ultimately, though, the decision is Falc's and if he says "absolutely no" I wouldn't fuss about it. And that game sounds spectacular. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: lamaros on January 25, 2012, 03:52:37 PM I wasn't suggesting Comstar had great dice, though perhaps they were slightly better, I just meant that we played very differently. I tried to draw him in to bash, he tried lots of hero moves to score.
Some of the hero moves worked, and when the game was on the line I didn't adjust and play defensive enough. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Gruntle on January 25, 2012, 04:21:01 PM Bann's Cosmos had 7 players with block, Los Stupicabras had 7 with Foul Appearance [correction: 6, one of my FA goats was out with a note from his nanny]. Unfortunately for me but probably to no one's great surprise, block carried the day (and it didn't hurt that one of Bann's 7 blockers was also Lord Borak the Despoiler).
The game started out very well for Los Stupicabras, they chose to kick off and as they did so, the crowd still mourning the senseless death of Scabb two games past, stormed the pitch and knocked down almost the entire Cosmos line (including Lord Borak) leaving only 3 goats in the back field still on their hooves. With an extra arm they grabbed the ball and faded back, Los Stupicabras applied pressure with a few goats while the rest stomped on the Despoiler's head, unfortunately he was only Knocked Out (this was a low injury game, only one goat the entire game got an injury and I apoth'ed that to a badly hurt so he was back in the second half). Though there were knocked out goats, some desperate ball bobbling and a few promising break-aways, neither team managed to score in the rest of the first half. For the second half, the Despoiler got back up, unfortunately two of my three KO'd goats didn't (including the +ST +AG goat). So lining up 10 goats against the Cosmonauts' full 11 with the Despoiler holding the center of rumble line, we set up to break on the side. Somewhat successfully at first, the extra hands + dodge goat recovered the ball and zigged then zagged to a cage on the side. Bann then broke that cage (was this following my double skull turn?) So on Los Stupicabras next turn the ball carrier was surfed out of tackle zones and ran to a half-cage against the side-line. The Despoiler spoiled that, smacking the back corner goat out of the way easily and moving next to the ball carrier, and the Cosmonauts placed a goat at the other exit up in front. Well the ball carrier had dodge and horns and was just within scoring so he went for the dodge away blitz but failed to escape Lord Borak. The Despoiler recovered the ball, and slow walked it in on turn 16 with no Stupicabra being able to take him down (though Bann made it difficult enough that I'm not sure many even got a shot at him, I remember one unlikely red dice blitz attempt was thwarted by a goat with dodge again failing his first dodge roll). (I followed Comstars lead and also added the game to our normal bbmanager league under day 8) Congratulations to Bann, he came back from a horrible horrible first turn kick off event to trounce my goats pretty handily. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: avaia on January 25, 2012, 10:41:53 PM Ugly ugly match that had things going my way very early, then for Teleku, then very decidedly back my way again. I didn't tie it up until turn 16, but by then he was down 7 goats.
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Ruvaldt on January 25, 2012, 11:05:46 PM Looks like Bann vs. Avaia for the ticket to Bleatbowl II. Hopefully I'll catch Llyse soon for our game and we can get this done quickly.
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Ruvaldt on January 26, 2012, 10:26:07 PM Breaking Wind 2 - 0 Goat Variations
Good game, and Llyse finally beat me. Really, it wasn't even close as Chocolate Jesus attempted to carry the team, but failed the important dodges, and then rolled four 1s on GFIs in a row. Llyse beat me pretty soundly, and that finishes round 1. However, due to some strangeness with the seeding, and the fact that, for whatever reason, Cyanide designed the leagues so that the owner can't alter match-ups after the first day has passed, the matches are different from how I planned. Ultimately it doesn't make a big difference, but if anyone objects I can create a different league and start it with just the four participating teams. The way Bloodbowl organized the next round is: Bann vs. Llyse Avaia vs. Comstar and the winners would meet at the finale, Bleatbowl II. I think it actually works out pretty well because none of these teams played each other in the regular season, but it isn't how I originally planned the match-ups to go. Unless a coach objects I'm just going to let these match-ups stand because, personally, I don't think it matters all that much at this point. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: Bann on January 27, 2012, 07:20:59 AM I have no problem with this.
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 1 Post by: avaia on January 27, 2012, 07:38:00 AM That's because you are a coward, Bann.
Works for me as well. Actually, the original bracket would likely make for much easier scheduling, but that's not a huge deal. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on January 27, 2012, 03:24:07 PM The round is on! Nine days to play your matches.

The cold snap in Korea killed my water boiler and power but it should be good to Sunday afternoon GMT +10 so hopefully your Sunday morning is free. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on February 04, 2012, 12:09:23 AM You're playing Bann, Llyse. Blood Bowl threw a fit and decided on different matches; I wasn't able to switch them around.
Bann vs. Llyse Avaia vs. Comstar Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Comstar on February 04, 2012, 04:00:19 AM I bought a new PC today and have discovered that Bloodbowl is not being very nice.
Quote Sorry, your download time expired (21 days from order day). I have submitted a ticket, but I suspect it would be all very much easier if I pirated the game instead. I'll wait till monday but if no news I'll end up buying it, again, on steam. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Comstar on February 05, 2012, 01:55:33 AM God dammit.

Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on February 05, 2012, 09:07:04 AM It is, but when the game came out those of us who had bought the previous version got a discount if we bought it through a different webstore. Also, I don't think it was immediately available on Steam. I foresaw this problem coming though and bought it through Steam when it was like $5 a few months ago because I had actually been through the same thing with them with the original Blood Bowl.
We'll wait, Comstar, no sweat. If you ask me, it's not piracy if you've paid for the game though! Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Comstar on February 06, 2012, 02:08:33 PM Panic over. Very nicely they have allowed me to download the game again, which I'm doing now. Assuming it all works I'll be able to play my game later today.
Edit- and I FOUND the damm download as I'm at 25% of the new download. Installed and ready to go. I expect a close match! I'll see you in...9 hours or so. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on February 06, 2012, 04:25:10 PM Awesome! Now, how about Bann vs. Llyse?
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Bann on February 06, 2012, 05:58:54 PM We tried to play yesterday, but Llyse was having some connection problems. We couldn't even make it past the inducement screen without a timeout.
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on February 06, 2012, 06:16:48 PM It didn't go so far that it had to be reset.
As soon as you two can get it finished, please try. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Llyse on February 06, 2012, 07:42:31 PM Yeah, it won't be until this weekend since we've got a massive time difference sadly :heartbreak:
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on February 06, 2012, 09:24:25 PM I had a chat with Bann about it earlier. It's no problem as long as you two are on the same page about scheduling the match.
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Llyse on February 09, 2012, 09:26:43 PM Hi Bann,
I should be available in 8 hours but that's still middle of the Friday workday for you I think. So what about GMT +8 8am Saturday which is just after work Friday for you? Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Bann on February 10, 2012, 05:57:34 AM Llyse, that sounds great. I'm actually gonna try and duck outta work a little early today, so I'll look for you on steam when I get home.
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Comstar on February 12, 2012, 12:42:04 PM I played my game vs Avaia. It was a bloodbath- 1 dead, 1 MNG, 1 -1MV, 1 -1AV, 4 KO'd...and that was by turn 3!
I cannot upload the match because I have a new system, and the site for BloodBowl manager is down. Anyone got a link to get it again? Page does not work (http://94.23.239.117/BloodBowlManager.ClickOnce/publish.htm). After a dramatic first 3 turns of blood all over, Avaia had to make a risky 1 player run down from the middle of his side of the pitch...and it was not to be. After 4 more turns I ran in an easy TD when he only had 4 players left on the pitch. One player woke up for the first half, leaving him with 6 vs 11. Avaia conceded the match at that point, which I disagree with, but understand. Game Replay (http://www.mediafire.com/?ff89pddjanowo9p) Avaia - 1 MNG, 1 BH, 1 dead, 1 skill up. Me- -1MV, -1 AV, 2 skill ups. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: avaia on February 12, 2012, 12:47:46 PM Concession was a means of survival, nothing to disagree with.
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on February 12, 2012, 01:22:52 PM Comstar has a ticket to Bleatbowl II! Now will he face Llyse or Bann?
Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Llyse on February 12, 2012, 08:13:15 PM Played my match with Bann after network problems and delays.
There was a sizeable TV difference giving the Cosmonauts enough to afford the terrifying Grishnak Blackhoof and some bloodweiser babes. With the bigger Bull advantage Bann chose to receive after winning the toss. It started off solidly enough for Bann with setting up for a solid drive down the right flank with the a Cow Center formation. However with the guard advantage Breaking Wind eventually pressured the ball carrier and popped it free for a hoof tap dance routine around the elfskin ball. Several turns passed with both teams picking up the ball but unable to hold it for longer than a turn, while the biggest bovine on the pitch contributed with breaking the bones of a hapless block goat. Finally the Cosmonauts break free on the left flank and head to the right corner of the field. However with 0 rerolls left Bann is pressured into scoring on the 6th turn giving Breaking Wind a reasonable 3 turns to equalise. Thankfully the pickup was made with any problems and with enough time to send receivers deep into the russian space exploration field, an accurate short pass from the Chemical quarterback results in Breaking Wind equalising in clinical fashion. The 2nd half was a reversal of the first half with Breaking wind attempting to gradually bash their way to the redzone. However, this would be slightly with Chaos Cow star on the pitch. And Bann's Cosmonauts would regularly be within a hoof's grasp of the Breaking Wind ball carrier. Sensing their chance the Russian astronauts would elect to rush for the ball carrier leaving them too close to the sidelines. Breaking wind would play the clock and focus on increasing their numbers advantage by crowd surfing the eager Russians. Breaking Wind would go on to score in extratime on the 19th turn after getting a smashed hip to a key dodging guard goat. The Cosmonauts had 2 turns to equalise but with 0 rerolls and Nuffle the Invisible hand ensured Chemistry carried the day over Astronomy. Breaking Wind are into their successive Bleat Bowl with 2 - 1 win in Extratime. Title: Re: Horns & Hooves Playoffs: Round 2 Post by: Ruvaldt on February 13, 2012, 07:05:35 AM Nice work, to all participants. I'll advance the day later today and we can get Bleat Bowl II underway at Comstar and Llyse's leisure.
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Ruvaldt on February 13, 2012, 03:29:35 PM The day has been moved forward. Play away, you two. Scheduling shouldn't be too tough.
Also, I'm glad a new team made it. Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Comstar on February 16, 2012, 02:25:21 PM Llyse what's your steam name? I have this weekend available, so yell at me through steam!
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Llyse on February 16, 2012, 03:51:18 PM Hi Comstar!
I will be home and ready to rock Sunday about 2 hours behind Melbourne time. My steam name is Catfud Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Comstar on February 16, 2012, 04:39:32 PM Ok, give me a yell on Steam this sunday for the BLEATBOWL FINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAL
Will Experience defeat a random new season team? We'll find out. Both coaches have defeated the other in previous competitions, it will be a close game! Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Ruvaldt on February 16, 2012, 04:57:16 PM I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Comstar on February 19, 2012, 02:43:15 AM Game played. A close game. What decided it was a Big Hand+Sure Hand beast-man failing to pick up the ball 3 times in the rain.
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: luckton on February 19, 2012, 02:49:59 AM Deaths/injuries?
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Comstar on February 19, 2012, 07:48:28 AM One of my beastmen MNG and apoced to MNG, I think that was about it, apart from 2-4 KO's.
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Ruvaldt on February 19, 2012, 08:50:55 AM Game validated. Congratulations to Llyse, champion of Bleatbowl II, and to Comstar, for bringing a new team into the league and nearly taking the gold!
Thanks, everyone, for a great season. There was much more participation than I anticipated, and I hope folks had fun. See you all in Elfbowl! I anticipate it will begin very shortly. Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: lamaros on June 18, 2012, 05:54:49 AM Do you think there will be another Bleatbowl? I'm wondering what to do with my side.
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Ulysees on June 18, 2012, 06:00:22 AM If your experience was anything like mine the only sensible answer was to delete it!
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: lamaros on June 18, 2012, 06:21:08 AM Mine is pretty good. I might drop it down some TV and play it next season.
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Ruvaldt on June 18, 2012, 07:21:38 AM It's tough to say right now simply due to the new version coming out at some point. I don't intend for it to be the next league that I run though. It would be neat to see one of the teams go on to a regular season.
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: lamaros on June 18, 2012, 07:33:20 AM Well, I got bored so I sold half the side and bought a Mino.
1280 TV so if the next normal season starts before the new version comes they might get a run. Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Llyse on June 18, 2012, 08:31:05 AM I think I might do the same!
Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Llyse on September 13, 2012, 12:36:20 PM There was a post somewhere about moving the BleatBowl teams into the Feeder league since they only played games with f13 and so the likelihood of ringers was nil.
That still true? :awesome_for_real: Title: Re: Bleatbowl II Post by: Ruvaldt on September 13, 2012, 12:55:59 PM I don't see why not. Falc decided to allow them in the regular season as well as long as they passed the TV limit and never played a game outside of f13. No one has ever done that, but I know Lamaros has his goats in the Feeder League and has mentioned playing them next season. Which would be awesome. Betty was a beast.
