Sorry I'm late posting this, but I was on the road a lot yesterday.

The playoffs and how the fixtures will be set up:

Group 1:
Chevre first place vs. Feta fourth place
Feta second place vs. Chevre third place

Group 2:
Feta first place vs. Chevre fourth place
Chevre second place vs. Feta third place

The winners within each group's first match will play each other, and then the champion from each group will go to Bleatbowl II.  It will be in a seperate champsionship league so I can stipulate that ties are not allowed.

If there is any demand I will set up a post season for those not qualifying for the playoffs so that team development can take place in preparation for season 3, which will occur at some point in the future.  I don't want any team to fall behind, but I don't know how many intend to participate in future seasons.  I'll probably have a separate thread for this once it comes up.

Gruntle 2 over me 1

I had 2 badly injured, and caused one MNG. I think if Catfud wins his game I'm finished for the season. I got 3 skill ups out of it, but I don't think I'll play the team again- Chaos is just so sllllllllllllllooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww for an interesting team. However, Gruntle's mass Foul Appearance proved crucial, preventing several blitzes.

Anyone up for an Elfbowl league?

No, you've won a berth already.  The top four teams from both divisions are going to the post-season.

Anyone up for an Elfbowl league?

I'll be starting one up after Bleatbowl II unless you wanted to do it.  I was planning on doing sign-ups as playoffs for H&H begin because they'll probably go by pretty fast.

Playing on the crowd's sympathy (and with blatant memorializing), Los Stupicabras snatch a 2-1 victory over the feta division leaders, Comstar's Little Beasies, to finish out their regular season undefeated. It certainly didn't hurt that Nuffle was on their side. Possibly didn't help but try explaining that to the hardcore born-again Nufflites that form the team's backbone...

Is it the top 2 or top 4 who to the finals? If it's top 4 I'll be able to use the skill ups anyway.

I'll be glad to play a elfbowl league (Dark Elves, Wood Elves, High Elves and Pro Elves only right?) next  if you'll run it.

Top four.  I have the seeding layout in my first reply to this thread.  You're already in, it's just a matter of who you'll be playing at this point.

Yeah, that's how I envisioned the Elfbowl league: Dark, High, Wood or Pro.  I'll definitely run it, and I imagine it won't be as grimdark as the goat league is.  Hopefully we'll get some good interest, but even if it's only ten teams, like the original H&H League, we could have a good run with some interesting play.  The championship will have to be called the Bullshitbowl or somesuch.

My thought for an Elfbowl would be all elf races, no treemen, no rerolls, Pro or Leader allowed. I'd be in for that.

Post by: Teleku on January 14, 2012, 11:38:56 AM
...why no rerolls?  Also, not including treemen would disadvantage WE's, since they're balanced around having that while others aren't.

Title: Re: Horns & Hooves League: Day 7
Post by: IainC on January 15, 2012, 11:29:14 AM
The reason fo rno rerolls is that otherwise it's going to be a game of perfect set-pieces back to back. Most Elf D6 rolls are 2+ affairs so rerolls make it the closest thing to a guaranteed success that you can get in BB. Most Elf teams can score the turn they get the ball unless they have just had it kicked to them, in which case they can hold it out of reach and score the next turn. There's almost no way in which an opponent can interrupt the process - if the team with the ball doesn't roll 1s then the TD happens and the defending team has no chance to prevent it because it all happens in one player's turn.

I'm around today if you're about Ingmar.

On California time so I'm something like 16 hours behind you. I should be around in the evenings all week my time, or I can do earlier in the day on Saturday, that will probably work better with the time difference I'd guess.

I think I've been around most nights (your time) but I haven't managed to catch you yet. I be around again tomorrow (your thursday night) so hopefully we can meet up then. I'm going to be pretty busy this weekend.

I should be free as well.  Starting Friday night from around 6 PM GMT-8 on through the weekend, I should be open (unless something comes up obviously, but no set plans currently).

OK. My weekend schedule has changed in any case. I'll keep an eye out.

I had the dice on my side, though Ingmar made a impressive go of it in the second.

Regular season is over.

Lovers, Fighters | 2 - 0 | Sheep Go To Heaven

Yeah I was playing shorthanded more or less the whole game, and almost forced a tie - but I would have needed a win to get into the playoffs anyway I think.

Oh yeah, two of my four injuries caused were from Linda. She just doesn't stop.

Autoresolved my match with Luckton as a win because he has actually removed his team from the league and I take that to be the same as conceding.  I don't think I'll get any spps out of it though, sadly; or at least that's what it looks like right now.  So, I go into the playoffs as the top seed for Chevre, but in terms of team development I'm a game behind where I should be.  At least my team is fresh.

I believe a default win gives two MVPs and two random TD SPPs to the winning team.

That's what I thought too, but nothing.  Maybe it's because Luckton removed his team.  It actually hasn't even counted as a victory in the league rankings.

I don't believe that I'll continue with the team for the next Horns and Hoves round.  As both me and Falc are out of the running for the playofffs what is the best way to conceed to him so he get's his SPP for his team?

I can set the outcome for you; as you said, the playoff picture won't be changed one way or another.

Mammals are victorious over Alpacas, 3-0.  IainC uploaded it to the manager before I could even start it up, so here are some stats:

The 3rd touchdown was end-of-game blitz bullshit -- most of the game was actually fairly quiet, a lot of shoving and people getting knocked over and not injured.  There was a crucial interception by one Mammal though, that was exciting.

whoops push wrong buttan

What I was adding to the previous message is one of my better players, Strip Ball / Big Hand, tripped and Niggling Injured himself around about turn 11.  I made the tough choice to not apothecary him in case someone had something WORSE happen, and, of course, nobody else got injured.  Sorry, Tayassu.

I got hosed by the dice throughout - I couldn't get anything but pushes for several turns in a row, I failed a lot of D6 rolls, couldn't break armour even on the rare occasions when I got a knockdown and suffered a lot of turnovers.

Here are some more comparative stats:

The one time I managed to break the ball out and it didn't either bounce into another Mammal's hands or into a place where I couldn't get to it, I picked the ball up and had a 3+ pass to a goat with Catch who could have run out of range to take the lead in the first half only for his triple marked goat in Disturbing Presence range to make an interception in the rain. The rest of the game was basically me either failing to knock over Mammals or getting both down results as my first action of the turn.

Horns of Wrath 1 - Cosmonaughts 0

A match that proved the value of having a deep bench as Bann destroyed my team but I had a big enough bench to always field 11 while the second half saw him down to 9 and the numbers meant he was very limited in options for making his drive and got bogged down in midfield allowing me to break away and ensure there was no equaliser.

Thankfully though that ties me for 4th on points with Bann he has a much better Cas ratio so he gets to endure at least another match, unlucky mate!

Avaia/Haemish: I'm extending the deadline by a day for your match because it could actually have an effect on seeding for the playoffs and I'd like your teams to get as much opportunity to develop as possible.  Let me know what's going on with the match.

I conceded to Teleku at halftime due to RL but he was definitely in the Driver's seat being 1-0 with wizard in hand and 2 goats up.

Best of luck in the Bleat Bowl!

Waitsing 2 - Triptkyon 0

I'm so glad to be done with this team. It's HORRIBLE. And Fuck Cyanide again for making such a shitty, idiotic interface. I made the mistake of turning "Ask All" on before starting this game, then on my FIRST BLOCK, click off the "Use Block" choice on the block dice and had an immediate turnover. It didn't get much better from there. I inflicted two casualties (I think one was a badly hurt) but couldn't ever keep him down enough to make any headway. Nuffle fucked me hard with passes - my +1 AGI guy failed two passes during the game that would have opened up some options, and then an unleveled guy hits a 5+ pass with a reroll on the last turn for some meaningless SPP. Fuck beastmen.
