Title: Tank thread Post by: Sky on January 05, 2012, 01:23:18 PM For general tank discussion, I can OP some info if we develop enough.
The catalyst for the thread is that I'd like to develop a consistent target icon system for all the BC/SLAP tanks to use so that whenever we're doing guild groups we all know what the icons mean and get a more consistent experience when grouping with our folks. I'll update this post with colors and niceness once we decide on a system. But for now...what are you tanks using the icons to represent? I've only dabbled with the system in a couple early FPs, but I'd like to be better about using them as things get more difficult/complicated. And as always, I appreciate the patience groups have for this newbie tank :) Always open for constructive criticism and advice on being a better tank. Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Fordel on January 05, 2012, 01:26:42 PM Slap has used the same targeting scheme for years, I have no idea what the icons in SWTOR are and if they translate though.
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Ingmar on January 05, 2012, 01:29:50 PM Kill order is Skull, X, triangle, square, Fordel's CC target is moon, Proudft's CC target is star, sickrubik's CC target is circle, trap diamond. :why_so_serious:
Sadly, no, they don't translate. Except maybe by color, but that doesn't help when I'm the one marking targets. Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Sjofn on January 05, 2012, 01:36:03 PM Trap was SQUARE. Diamond was banish. :why_so_serious:
Also in case you didn't notice, the kill order is reflected in "number of lines." Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: proudft on January 05, 2012, 01:36:40 PM He also has shape-blindness.
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Sjofn on January 05, 2012, 01:37:23 PM I just straight up cackled, proudft.
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Ingmar on January 05, 2012, 01:38:55 PM Trap was only square if we had 2 hunters, and ha ha you act like we ever had a warlock in the guild.
================= In any case there's another big problem currently with them, which is that they can't be keybound (I think.) I'm hoping that changes as it seems a really obvious UI improvement. Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Fordel on January 05, 2012, 01:46:10 PM The important thing is I am the Moon.
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Sjofn on January 05, 2012, 01:52:00 PM Trap was square. I will swear this until my dying day. I was always square. Even in the five mans.
But yeah, not being able to bind them seems shitty. There's a lot about the UI that could use some general unshitting. And I say this as someone who has a VERY HIGH shitty UI tolerance. Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Azuredream on January 05, 2012, 02:17:35 PM The only two I've seen used or used myself are bolt for CC and the targeting reticule for kill target.
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: 01101010 on January 05, 2012, 02:21:50 PM Groups I been in use shield for the cc target, fire for the dps this as quick as you fucking can target which is also the tanking target.
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Merusk on January 05, 2012, 02:47:09 PM Trap is square. This was as universal as Skull, X, Triangle.
In my guild's groups Poly was typically Moon and offtank was condom.. err.. shield... err.. circle. Diamond was other-random-cc, typically sap. Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: ajax34i on January 06, 2012, 03:15:39 AM Can the symbols be set via keybind or are we limited to rightclick?
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: Sky on January 06, 2012, 07:01:17 AM Right click.
Title: Re: Tank thread Post by: ajax34i on January 06, 2012, 07:33:01 AM Except for one purchasable social 1 item that makes a green diamond thing that's usable from your toolbar, then. Maybe just have the CC'ers mark the mobs they're gonna CC with it, and the tank can go plant him/herself on the boss with the nice big yellow star by its name, and everyone else aoe the non-marked stuff.
