Title: Red Orchestra 2 network problems
Post by: snowwy on September 19, 2011, 01:36:17 PM
Since i'm dumb as shit and you're (mostly) not i have a question.
I'm trying to play Red Orchestra 2, but after one of their latest patches i'm having all sorts of network problems.
Going from server browser i will join a game, pick a side and go linkdead. I am still in the game but can't do anything, and other people are humping walls, so i have to disconnect.
Try this a few times til i finally find a server that doesn't freak out. I can the happily play for hours.
After closing down ROgame.exe and trying to open a website, my line will be completely dead for 2 minutes( "sending request" and "you do not seem to be connected  yaddayadda" til it suddenly works again.
Sitting on a DSL-line with a Thompson speedtouch router from provider.

So what could be causing this behavior. What should i look for?

Asked this on Tripwires forums as well, but not expecting it to even pop up there, as it is a minor but annoying problem.

Edit by Trippy: fixed title

nm, may have found a fix randomly. Stupid Thompson routers

Was it a sequence of characters that reset the modem? If so, I've had something similar (except it only affected the transfer sending the character sequence) a few years back. It wasn't fun to debug.

Downloaded and played this a bit last night. I wouldn't be surprised if the game client was somehow responsible. What a buggy mess.
