Title: Hell on Wheels
Post by: Xanthippe on August 28, 2011, 09:15:59 PM
New show coming to AMC sometime before the end of the year.  Looks right up my alley.  I hope it's good.

Check it out:  http://www.amctv.com/shows/hell-on-wheels (http://www.amctv.com/shows/hell-on-wheels)

I will watch it. Althought they apparently left out the Chinese for some reason.

I will watch it. Althought they apparently left out the Chinese for some reason.

From what I read about that, the railroad they are building is coming from the east coast and heading west.  The Chinese mainly worked on the railroad heading west to east.

Premieres tonight after Walking Dead.

I lost interest in Dead last season, as the plot is mostly stupidity driven (slightly leavened by pettiness) but I'm going to give this a shot.

So the reviews for Hell on Wheels aren't good at all.  I was hoping AMC would have another hit on it's hands, but it's not looking good.

Was alright.  Will give it a few episodes. Colm Meaney was disappointing, maybe too much mustache twirling. And a soliloquy at the end. huh? what?

This show wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. It had about all the subtlety of a hammer blow to the forehead. One character might as well have been wearing a red shirt for how much foreshadowing about his death was hammered home. None of the actors seemed to give two shits about their roles. Everything about the show felt completely flat.

I have to concur.  Not terrible but way too heavy handed.  I'd like to know how long our protagonist was waiting in the confessional for the off-chance that his target would show up, especially since they made it appear as though target guy just happened upon that church by chance.

Big disappointment.

I've watched every episode since it's on my DVR and can confirm it's dullness.  Actors are good, it's the writing.
