They were going to make mad cash off of the XBox versions of DX2 and Thief 3!  Or, how to water down a good concept into a mishmash that pleases no one.  Although to be fair, I thought Thief 3 was actually good.

I would be sorry for them, but I'm still sorry for myself for playing Deus Ex 2 and my sorry is limited.

Hmm. I've heard Daikatana called many things but never that.

It bent the action genre from "decent' into an odd escher-esque painting of ass.

I hate to see people lose jobs, but I'm glad this shop closed.

They deserve it for console-ing down two of the greatest pc gaming franchises, without even getting into that abortion of Romero's.

If only I were a millionaire, I'd reopen Black Isle and especially Looking Glass Studios, maybe my favorite dev house of all time, in retrospect (it was Origin for many years, but it's been a loooong time since Origin had a pulse...)

I never did enjoy the Ultima series (I think the names irked me.  Lord British?  What the fuck kind of name is that?), so when the Wing Commander series dried up that's when Origin died for me.

This announcement, while sad, does not hit me as emotionally as the Looking Glass shutdown did.

Before Invisible War was released, I remember reading interviews with Warren Spector where he voiced his passion for the changes instituted in that series and the Thief series to bust the concepts out of the PC realm and open them up to the world of consoles.

I wish it had worked, but, um, well ...

I'll mirror what everyone else is saying. This is nothing if not expected, and not a very emotional ride either ( specially since the only talent they had packed up and left ). Still it's a pity, part of me hadn't given up hope of getting a worthy sequel to Deus Ex.

Eidos, EA and Interplay all deserve to die for their sins ( LGS, Origin, Black Isle ), one down two to go.

Good riddence I say...DX2 is probably the biggest waste of a game I have ever bought...

Wouldn't know. I beat it the day it came out.  :roll: Despite how bad the gaming was, the story was good. I'm a whore for stuff like that.

Yes they did patch it. And some fan made some really nice looking high res textures for it aswell ( also did some good stuff for Thief 3 ).

Only remaining problem with the game are the size of the zones. Well that and the general shortness of the game.

Well, Ion Storm did finance Stevie Case's new breasts, and she shared them with us all, so at least we got boobies out of the deal, even if they did have to be manufactured for the occasion.  So it wasn't a total loss.

Fuck you, Eidos. While DX2 and Thief 3 may not have been as good as their predecessors, closing Ion Storm in favor of keeing the Crystal Dynamics team is a goddamn mortal sin. CD works on Tomb Raider games, which the industry hasn't needed any of since the release of the fucking sequel. Yeah, that's right, we don't need another shitty Boob Raider game.

Hey, I thought TR 1 was fun.

It was. Unfortunately, TR2-everything else was nothing more than variations on the same theme, and not well-implemented variations at that.
