Before August the 3rd. But it goes without saying, the sooner the better! (I leave on sunday. League can be transferred, but that feels scary. Gamekilling bugs are round every corner with Cyanide).

You can simply add a commissioner with Full Rights to the league, no need to transfer it.

Hey!

Alive not Dead vs. F13 Catfighters! This is a classic, it was the Title match in Season #2 (http://forums.f13.net/index.php?topic=20008.msg877546#msg877546), and you can read Comstar's recap if you follow the link.

(Also, download replay HERE! (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3584773/SuperBlowl%20I%20-%20Comstar%20vs%20Llyse.db)  )

I don't know about you guys, but it feels like centuries ago to me.

Didn't work when we tried that trick in Season #1.

Not sure if an update fixed it or what, but I've used it in several leagues now without issue.

Predictions-

I'm going to have to go with the favourite- AndyC and his Dark Elves of Doom. Blasted Dwarves couldn't even cause an injury. The only hope of the Necro team is the ST 5 MV 8 Werewolf I think.

Me, but a 2-1 victory in overtime. But I do NOT like my chances, Undead or Alive he's coming at me. With an entire team with block, more tackle than I have Guard and those too fast and too furious werewolves, the Necro team is definitely the favourite here.

Edit- our first meeting between these 2 teams was a Draw, and I won the final of the season. He has the skill advantage and a slight ST advantage. I have more guard players, but his ENTIRE team has block or wrestle. I did roll a double 1 for my last lineswomen, so she got Sneaky Git. If his werewolves get loose, it's all over. The team TV is close, and the match will be too.

I'm going to be away from a computer-with-bloodbowl until Wednesday night late (my time, GMT-7), so it will have to be sometime after that. Not sure what your general schedule is like, usually it's easiest to play in your evening (my morning/early afternoon), but as my schedule is likely to be flexible-but-very-busy, it's probably easiest to just set a time sometime on Thursday or Friday to play.

Right well, i'm thinking that thursday evening should be playable, if we aim for something late my time like 11pm, since i'm going out i the evening. Because i'm going out i  can't  be specific yet - how much accuracy do you need from me? Will you be around kicking your heels or rushing to your desk for a specific time?

Lylse/catfud hasn't been on steam for 4 days. I hope he finishes moving continents soon.

Oh hey, this forum is no longer in the graveyard!

Well, if you set a specific time then I can try to specifically be there; if not, the odds that I will end up with something else I had to do go up. Given the time frame I can probably just 'be around' for most of the window, but there is the possibility that Blood Bowl may be trumped in my list of priorities.

So in any case I will look for you if I am around starting 4pm or so my time, and hopefully it will all work out.

So me and Andy played our game just now. While not as epically tense as my game with Carnifex, I think it would probably be a lot more exciting to watch, because that was one clusterfuck of a game. Trying to solve a rubix cube on 2 minute turns is hard work.

So go download the replay if you're that sort of person.

For everyone else:

Also, to be clear, I don't think the dice are the reason I lost this game -- my play in the second half was seriously flailing, and I'm pretty sure I missed some opportunities to move the ball into safer areas on several occasions. This wasn't one of those games where I felt like the dice were out to screw me -- except maybe for the KO recovery rolls.

Man, I envy your memory, ICE.   My post-game thoughts are usually along the lines of 'hrm, that was a lot of blocking' or 'I think I had an injured guy'.  Those are some impressive details to remember.

Unless you cheated by watching at the replay while typing that up.

No, though in some cases when I wasn't sure I just pretended I was so it was easier to follow -- I assume if you're reading the review you aren't watching the replay, so I only really worry about perfect accuracy when I am bitching about stats.

But really, most of it was just moments that stood out because I spent so long agonizing over them. Or because that damn 'turnover buzzer' noise is a sort of negative-feedback mnemonic device whose unexpected appearance sears the last few shameful seconds into your brain for all eternity. Or at least, for the next hour or two.

Catfud has not been online in Steam for 5 days now :(

At any rate, I'm available for a game any time Mon/Tue/Wed.

7 Days now.

The good news is that the US will default and republicans will plunge the world into an Economic Disaster before we run out of time.

I presume if he dosn't show up, I get a 2-0 win by default? :(

Llyse was online here on the forum yesterday so at least we knw he read this message. Why he didn't reply? That's beyond us. One thing is for sure, we knew he was going to be away for a while, but communication in any form is capital. I hope you will be able to arrange a match in the next 3 days, but you win 2-0 by default if:

- He doesn't show up.
- He shows up and offers you a very small window to play and that window doesn't work for you.

While understanding any personal issue, that's where communication is critical. You can't show up two days before the deadline and expect your opponent ot be available when you are.

Let's wait and see. I hope you guys will make it, defaulting a semi-final would be a defeat for the whole League.  :uhrr:

Hi guys,

It's super late notice but I finally have a PC with Bloodbowl working and will be messaging Comstar for times shortly.

Since he's down under it shouldn't be a problem scheduling a match so expect banger of a game in the next 2 days.

I'm also available any time after that for the next 3 days. Hope to see you on Steam.

Gah, how do you punks have so much cash? I can't even afford a bench!

Looks like Comstar could have had a little more run with the dice, but it's a hard win even when the numbers fall your way.

Comstar responds with some beautiful dodging to form a solid cage in front of the touchdown line. I try to counter but Benson the Hedge Knight roll double skulls and i decide to let the result stay since Comstar can either stall and let me beat up on his team or take the lead decisively. Comstar throws some blocks buts decides to score, having 5 rerolls to my 3.

This whole series of turns was absolutely mind-boggling for this observer. I assumed you had misclicked and accidentally decided not to reroll -- and that Comstar had then taken pity on your UI error and scored immediately. Insane decision making on both sides -- if you want to beat up his players to force him to score, turning over on the first block without moving any of your players is not the way to do it, especially when you have 3+ rerolls left. As for Comstar scoring instead of stalling when he had two thirds of his team between your players and the ball, that could have easily been the difference between overtime and the loss.

Other than that, I think the d6 stats were pretty revealing. The number of GFIs the Amazons made without failure was impressive (31/32!), and the Necros didn't fail a single roll, which helps explain why they had so many rerolls -- ending the first half with 4/3.

I was paused there for some time thinking about it. I decided to make the TD because he had 2 Frenzying Werewolves and enough players with Tackle to be able to punch a hole and get a player with Tackle next to the ball carrier. And I didn't want to spend any time next to his other guys so they could punch me (which really starting causing trouble at the start of the 2nd half when I lost 2 players).

If my wizard had worked, I probably would have got a 2nd TD in the first half, which was the plan. Didn't quite work out :(

Just watching your game against Andy for any ideas on how to play him, Can you tell me why you chose to Kick instead of Receive? (I would do the same but am curious at your reasons)

Just watching your game against Andy for any ideas on how to play him, Can you tell me why you chose to Kick instead of Receive? (I would do the same but am curious at your reasons)

Assuming you're asking me: I chose to kick because a) defense is harder to screw up, and I tend to make more mistakes early, and b) assuming a relatively even match, the worst case is to start the second half down 1-0 while receiving, which means you're still in the game. There was no way Andy was going to score twice, barring disaster, and if I played well I could either get a stop (which I did) or force him to score quickly, giving me a chance to equalize. On the other hand, if I received and Andy managed a stop or a defensive score, I didn't much rate my chances of getting back into the game.

I would basically never choose to receive with my current team -- the main reason I can see to receive is to try and control/dominate the game through inflicting casualties, and my team doesn't have a single player with Mighty Blow, so that's just not going to be a winning strategy. And against teams that out-bash me (not including Andy's team), I'd rather ensure I have all my positionals in play on defense than on offense.

Usually I kick because defence is easier with more players on the pitch.

I playoffs I favour recieving because if you can finish the first half 1-0 up, the extra time rules mean that you can take as long as you like to respond to the opposition scoring.

Yeah, dwarves have the same issue. Kicking ideally lets you go into the half with a tie, then you plan on an 8 turn drive for the win in the 2nd half.
