Title: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Der Helm on June 19, 2011, 11:42:38 PM You don't have time to commit a whole evening to a single game of Blood Bowl ?
You are a firm believer in swift and brutal justice on the pitch ? Join the Speed-Dating league, where nobody finishes their turns in time Anyone interested ? I find my 40s turn games in the public leagues hilarious. :awesome_for_real: My Coach name = Hlem Open league Fresh teams only No password, requires application. Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Comstar on June 20, 2011, 07:21:32 AM I'd be interested in this.
Does 40second turns help Strength teams or Agile team more though? Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Der Helm on June 20, 2011, 07:38:36 AM I'd be interested in this. You definitly won't be able to move all your players or bash all the players you want, so I am not sure. I rolled a generic High Elf team for this league.Does 40second turns help Strength teams or Agile team more though? Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Gruntle on June 20, 2011, 11:38:28 AM Is this that Real-time I've heard so little about?
Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Ingmar on June 20, 2011, 11:39:19 AM My gut instinct is it will favor teams with more of their power concentrated in a few positionals - ie the ones with a few good guys and a horde of crappy linemen who don't matter that much. It also will favor (relative to a regular league) turnover-prone teams, since a turnover will hurt relatively less because your opponent probably won't be able to move all his guys again anyway. Having good agility on the few good positional players will probably be important because you won't have time to knock everyone down and will thus probably have to make more dodges.
In other words it is the perfect league for vampires. :-P Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Comstar on June 20, 2011, 11:46:56 AM Is this that Real-time I've heard so little about? No, it's exactly like the other league, but turns are 40 seconds instead of 2 or 4 minutes. Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Modern Angel on June 20, 2011, 12:28:33 PM 40sec became A Thing back in the waning days of Dark Elf edition. I got amazingly good at finishing my turns.

Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Ice Cream Emperor on June 20, 2011, 01:15:10 PM It favours passing teams big time, IMO. Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Strazos on June 20, 2011, 03:59:59 PM Wait, is this going to allow randoms? I don't want to have to schedule with randoms. :oh_i_see:

I don't want to have to schedule with randoms. :oh_i_see: No password on the league, but (as you should have found out by now) I have to accept every coach into the league.Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Strazos on June 20, 2011, 05:22:07 PM I don't understand how I am supposed to arrange matches each day with randoms. Randoms that have the possibility to just up and disconnect when things don't go their way...
Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Ingmar on June 20, 2011, 05:24:40 PM Helm just told you there weren't going to be any randoms!
Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Llyse on June 20, 2011, 05:44:54 PM It favours passing teams big time, IMO. It favours teams who can punish turnovers and make risky plays (Read Elves.) But it'll be good fun Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Strazos on June 20, 2011, 07:06:27 PM Helm just told you there weren't going to be any randoms! Oh, I took his "have to" to mean "required" - stupid French, leaking into my non-work activities! :oh_i_see: Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Der Helm on June 24, 2011, 03:02:44 PM Hm. Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: ezrast on June 24, 2011, 03:45:59 PM Eh, what the hell. Maybe it'll teach me to stop running out of time every damn turn in the other leagues.

Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Der Helm on July 05, 2011, 10:53:04 AM So is this league getting off the ground? As far as I understood, you guys just have to be online at the same time to have a match.Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: ezrast on July 05, 2011, 11:04:14 AM Oh!
We didn't know it was an unscheduled, MM league. Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Comstar on July 05, 2011, 03:58:14 PM Err, yes. I was expecting a structured league. Makes it a lot easier to get a game going I would have thought.
Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Comstar on July 05, 2011, 05:45:32 PM Gruntle challanged me via Steam for the very first match of the season. High Elves vs Halflings.
3-0, 4 dead lings (and 3 Badly Hurt and 3 KO'ed) and 1 dead helf (and another one out for the next game). 40 seconds makes the game very fas4...45 minutes at most. A brutle game, with a halfling being killed every 3 turns or so, and one of my very expensive catchers. The other catcher got the Dodge skill, and one my Bltizers rolled +1ST, which will make him very likely to be my stuff ball carrier killer. I replaced the catcher with a thrower, and I'm down 1 player next game. I'm available to play in US prime time, or any time Tue/Wed/Thurs. Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Comstar on July 05, 2011, 05:53:47 PM Err, how do you FIND someone to play? There's no in game way of seeing who else is in the league that I can see.
Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: lamaros on July 05, 2011, 06:43:38 PM Accept my team Helm! You're ruining christmas!

Title: Re: Helm's Speed-Dating Extravaganza Post by: Ice Cream Emperor on July 05, 2011, 07:54:44 PM Pony Squad X has applied. Are you a bad enough breed to run... with the Pony Squad?
