Erm....yeah. Dunno if Fox is just taking the piss or what with this but figured it would make a memorable first post if nothing else. /relurks Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Paelos on June 16, 2011, 01:52:30 PM I give your first post an A.
You managed to correctly use the linking function, and you worked in the swamp poop face. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Merusk on June 16, 2011, 02:05:50 PM Mole! :drill:
Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Malakili on June 16, 2011, 02:09:25 PM I don't know how memorable this will be after it never gets off the ground and disappears to the 10th page of the forum, but a passable first post none the less!

He correctly linked an article and gave us a brief idea of why we might click on the link. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Amaron on June 16, 2011, 06:59:45 PM Are we calling flash/facebook games MMO's now or something? Seems Fox successfully trolled Massively into giving some free advertising.
Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Bzalthek on June 17, 2011, 04:53:29 AM I believe "massive" in MMO these days refers to the size of balls devs et all have for foisting their unfinished, unfun, poorly implemented fuckpiles of shit upon their customers.

Yes I may have oversold it just a smidge. I blame Fox. My brain was so busy trying to put Family Guy and MMO together and screaming WTF at me that I appear to have briefly lost all sense of perspective. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. (http://www.dofus.com/en) You have illustrated my point perfectly. Um, what? Are we calling flash/facebook games MMO's now or something? Seems Fox successfully trolled Massively into giving some free advertising. This one? If so, No I did not. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Amaron on June 17, 2011, 08:03:43 AM This one? If so, No I did not. I suppose saying a crappy french game named Dofus illustrates how all flash games are bad is a tad bit unfair to flash games. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Mrbloodworth on June 17, 2011, 08:09:06 AM Its one of the best MMO's on the flash platform. Fits every definition, and is a far cry from "Flash Facebook game".
I suppose having 3 incarnations is a sign of its "Crappyness". :oh_i_see: My point being, Using flash as a platform does not mean Facebook game. As for the title in question, Family guy, We have ZERO idea what platform its on, or what it will be like. That is why I asked where all this info is coming from, none of it has even been said. Seems to be some assumptions being made with nothing to go with. Not saying that I can wrap my head around how they may pull this off, but still. Here is what is known:

What you missed was the important part that said "flash game" to me.
Or do we honestly believe a full-fleged MMO can be hacked-out in complete secrecy or within a few months if it's not flash-based? Flash Family Guy game like Mafia Wars/ Famville/ Dragon Age:Legends? Sure. EA or Zynga can toss those things out in a few months, why couldn't anyone else. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Shatter on June 17, 2011, 10:25:23 AM giggity giggity

Sure, if it sucks. But yeah, it'll be another social gaming piece of shit, obviously. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Mrbloodworth on June 17, 2011, 10:34:52 AM We have no idea how long its been worked on, or who is even making it.
Not that I don't have my own assumptions. Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Lantyssa on June 17, 2011, 12:04:52 PM Or do we honestly believe a full-fleged MMO can be hacked-out in complete secrecy or within a few months if it's not flash-based? Cartoon Network and something else I'm forgetting managed to do it. I don't see why they couldn't.Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Mrbloodworth on June 17, 2011, 12:55:08 PM There are a number of others. The root here, is "LOL flash is easy", when its not any more challenging than any other platform. The reason its used in Facebook games, is becomes of the prevalence of the plugin, as opposed to some third party one grandma needs to download.

Cartoon Network and something else I'm forgetting managed to do it. I don't see why they couldn't.No, Cartoon Network began development in 2007 after ComicCon and the game released early (Jan) 2009. There was at least a year in development prior to the official announcement in 2008. http://fusionfall.wikia.com/wiki/The_Fusionfall_Wiki It's not LOL Flash is EZ it's "how on earth would they do anything else?" AND "it's easy to translate this game model to the IP vs the traditional MMO model" AND "game changes in MafiaVille Legends are easier to crank out than quest chains and mob pathing." Or is Peter having to grind 100k chickens before he can fight the big Yellow one the baisis for a sensible and fun game? Title: Re: Family Guy Online. Really. Post by: Mrbloodworth on June 17, 2011, 01:36:07 PM So, when did they start development on this?

So I received an email/newsletter about this game (and didn't have the junk emails everyone else was complaining about) which introduces a new "Family Guyzer" (http://"Family Guyzer") where you can create a Family Guy character based on a RL picture. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gHNPnsK4tQ Also there's a trailer out that also hasn't been in this thread yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-8cINn5ka8&feature=relmfu Edit to add link to main page: http://www.familyguyonline.com/ |
