Title: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: Signe on February 08, 2005, 05:49:40 AM Evidently, if a DoT is cast on your pet and you dismiss it, the spell activates when you summon the pet next time. I didn't know this!
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-general&T=1264484&P=1 Evidently, it killed almost everyone in the Auction House on Cenaurius. http://tinyurl.com/7xaj9 I'm making a hunter so I can grief joo! What fun! Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: Righ on February 08, 2005, 06:08:08 AM Killed almost everybody in the AH, but it didn't kill his party members who are in the guild Afterlife or indeed any other Afterlife members in the AH at the time. The other survivors are health tanks.
Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: Paelos on February 08, 2005, 06:26:46 AM What kind of DoT would cause that massive explosion?
Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: Trippy on February 08, 2005, 06:33:20 AM Normally I intensely dislike people who grief their own side (e.g. people pulling aggro elite mobs to their own newbie areas) but that was pretty funny. To answer your question Paelos, apparently there's a raid boss in Molten Core that casts that effect on a random aggro PC or pet and that effect will stay on if you dismiss your pet. You can read the explanation here (search for "Teclisen"):

Post by: Signe on February 08, 2005, 06:59:56 AM Yes, it's funny... the first time you see it. But who want's to bet that it'll stop being funny when it's happening several times a day. They should probably warn people against this and take out the banzor stick to discourage it. WoW just isn't quite interesting enough for the high level wankers to pass up good griefing opportunities.
Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: kaid on February 08, 2005, 07:42:38 AM While I can sort of admire it and laugh at it frankly if I had been one of the people in the auction house I would be pissed. Its already bad enough with people walking their infernals and doomgards into ironforge to rampage around now we have to worry about suicide bombers.
Damn it takes me so freaking long to use the auction house as is and now we are going to have 500 jack asses nuking the Ah I likely will just give up on shopping. I have troubles calling this other than massive griefing. This person killed 30 or 40 folks who are on the same side as that person and are completly unable to return the favor. If this was an open FFA pvp server sure blow up the auction house and me and my buddies will go hunting for you. But the way it is setup people have 0 recourse or ability to prevent or defend themselves from this type of action. The funny thing is they posted a big thread about it with movies of what they did. I can only imagine that is just screaming for a ban. kaid Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: Righ on February 08, 2005, 08:11:56 AM The sky is falling. It really won't happen very often. Go to the Molten Core and find out why. It's an EPIC instance at tier three. You need a seriously well rounded epic raid group and about eight hours of time. You also need enough luck that a pet rather than a player gets dotted, and that the player dismisses their pet.
All the best (http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?i=27034) hunter (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=27150) loot (http://www.retributionguild.net/) is in Molten Core. Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: MrHat on February 08, 2005, 08:44:32 AM That's gold!
Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: WayAbvPar on February 08, 2005, 09:46:16 AM Heh. I would think it was funny, but Signe is right; if it starts to happen often, it will be a problem. Sounds like that isn't too likely, however.
Title: Re: Warning! Pets could Explode! Post by: HaemishM on February 08, 2005, 09:47:44 AM That was hilarious... the first time. Even with the humor involved, I'd still be pissed as hell if it happened to me.
