Title: Another Humble Bundle
Post by: Azazel on April 13, 2011, 12:13:04 AM
Much like the last one, this one is aimed at PAX/Child's Play. Frozenbytes games, this time.

Trine
Shadowgrounds
Shadowgrounds: Survivor
Splot (preorder)
Jack Claw (unfinished game to fuck about with).

Huh, each one of these has one game in particular that makes me inclined to throw them five bucks. First Braid (I already owned World of Goo), then Aquaria, now Trine.

Already own Trine, only interested in Splot. Anybody heard anything about it? I might just throw them a few bucks for charity anyways.

One week remaining on Crayon Physics Deluxe, Hammerfight, VVVVVV, And Yet It Moves, Cogs, and Steel Storm. I know nothing about any of these games but will do five bucks again anyway. Surely one of them is worth it.

I think Minecraft is running a sale to tie into this too.

I did 5 bucks for the bundle, and it was worth it.  And yet it moves is my favorite of the bunch.  I haven't played crayon physics yet. VVVVV isn't bad, but not particularly my cup of tea.   Cogs is solid.  Haven't played Hammerfight yet.

Humble Bundle 3 is now including the games from Humble Bundle 2 on donations over 5.03$

Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos, Revenge of the Titans.

If you missed that bundle, it is now literally insane of you not to get Humble Bundle 3.

5.03 = whatever the current average is. They're slowly forcing people to stop being cheap. There was a large group of people paying 0.01.

Wish I could go back and throw down money for past bundles.

Well, you kinda can. Pay above the average and you'll get the second one.

I mean the first one and the one with Trine. I already purchased the second one =\

Wasn't Trine part of the last one that you get for free if you donate more than $5 on this one?

Not that I can see and I donated $25.

Their numbering is off - Humble Bundle 3 is the fourth Humble Bundle, the third being the Frozenbyte Humble Bundle (which contained Trine) and the second being Humble Bundle 2, which is what you get now if you pay more than the average (about $5).

edit for words

There we go. I knew there was something off with how I was remembering the bundles.

Either way, I would gladly donate for the first bundle and the Frozenbyte bundle. For shame!

Ah, well that explains it. I'm also confused as to which bundles I have now. I know I missed one of them but ended up being given all the games from it several days after buying the next one.

Numbering isn't really off persay, if if the order of the bundles is. Frozenbyte Bundle was an exception from the standard bundles in that they only had Frozenbyte games. I know other publishers have talked with the Humble Bundle guys, including us, about doing similar bundles.

You guys really like boats and pirates.

We are based out of Kotka, Finland, one of the most important ports in Finland. Alot of naval history in these parts, which has fueled our obsession with pirates to an extent.

Another one is up. They've done the same thing as last time, and started with one game yesterday, and added two more for early purchasers and subsequent ones who "pay more than the average". Gonna pass this time, the last one was pretty recently, and I've never actually gotten around to playing any of the games off them.

Up again. Super Meat Boy, Shank, Jamestown, Bit.Trip Runner, and NightSky.
Cave Story+ and Gratuitous Space Battles for those who raise the average.

There's one of these like every month now, and I'm sure we can expect a Humble Christmas Bundle as well in a week's time. Saturation!
I guess I'll pick it up as usual for a small amount and then not ever download, install or play any of them as usual.

Totally agree.  I'd love to buy it, but the last $50 I've thrown at indie Steam games I haven't played more than 20min of each.  In theory, it would be great.  I simply don't have that much time in the day to play what I've purchased.  As much as I'd love to support the indie devs, I'm pissing that money away.  Then again, we donate more than that to charity every year, so I guess it's a wash?

Justify your purchase then. Turn that charity slider all the way up.

Looks like the quality of games is up this time.  I am hoping that the steam thing will make it so I won't forget about them the durring the next "I bored, wonder if there is anything interesting on steam." mood.

I wonder what the tax implication for a game developer is on this.  Seems like you could get good revenue *and* a good write off to charity this way.

So much for throwing down for a hodgepodge of little-known titles and hoping one of them is worth $5. Humble Bundle V (https://www.humblebundle.com/) is amazing. Like, I already own or have played through three of the titles and I still bought it amazing.

I'll do the usual - pay $5-odd for the bundle. Download them in 3 months time when I remember, and... well, that's as far as I ever get. No time.

Best bundle so far. I already owned most of it but still bought it for the sound tracks.

I've been wanting Amnesia and Limbo for a while. Figured a 10-spot to help indies and give to charity was worth it.

Am i a bad person for not giving anything to charity? i rather support the devs and humblebundle instead.

Yes.

Next question?

Give it wherever you like. I'm sure a lot more people send it all to charity without a cent to the devs or Humble.

I usually use the default split.

I support Child's Play and all that but tbh, I was a kid who spent a LOT of time in the hospital due to illnesses and requiring several surgeries. Having video games was cool but my parents not having 6-figure bills requiring them to file medical bankruptcy would've been better.

Holy Shit, Amnesia is a fantastically good game. Worth the money I spent by itself.

I saw you playing that on steam the other day and I thought "Fuck me, rather you than me, it's dark in here."

It's the scariest game ever made.  So much so that I literally can't go back to it.

I own all of the big games, but I'd at least like to have access to the soundtracks. Bastion soundtrack is unbelievable. Gave most of my money to charity.

I think Braid, Super Meat Boy and Lone Survivor were added to this in the last couple days?

Title: Re: Another Humble Bundle
Post by: HaemishM on June 08, 2012, 09:12:18 PM
Yep, if you already bought it for more than the average, they added those 3 games onto your account so you could download them as well. 8 games, 5 soundtracks. Hell, I got more than my money's worth out of Amnesia, I haven't even looked at the other games yet.

Do those additional games get automatically put on your steam library if you used the steam code?

No, there's a separate Steam key you get from the Humble Bundle site.

Is space pirates any good?  That's pretty much the only thing out of the bundle i'd want (I have torchlight)

I liked it, it's got a nice balance of action-y gameplay with RPG-ish ship upgrades. I don't know that I'd say it's MIND BLOWING, I thought the first hour or so was kinda mediocre, and the control is pretty awkward (it's top down 2D, your ship turns to face the mouse, and moves with WASD, but WASD are relative to the ship's orientation, e.g. W will always push your ship "forward" not "up on the screen") but there's a solid "one more upgrade" style hook there once you start unlocking new ships and tech.
