Title: Fun with health insurance Post by: MuffinMan on April 12, 2011, 09:40:34 PM Last year around this time I got all four wisdom teeth taken out. Since they were impacted it was covered by my medical plan which, of course, I'm have a $1250 deductible. The bill came to ~$1200 so I paid half of it with cash and they were going to bill me the next few months for the rest. A month after my surgery I log onto my account for my medical insurance and I'll be damned the oral surgeon submitted the claim again. Well since I "paid" the deductible a month earlier the insurance pays for 80% this time, oral surgeon then sends me a check for around $360 for the amount that I overpaid out of pocket. Is this common practice to double bill insurance companies for the same service?

Title: Re: Fun with health insurance Post by: Merusk on April 13, 2011, 05:42:54 AM I'd ask the insurance company about it just to cover my own ass and not seem complicit in an apparently fraud-y situation.
