Title: IL2 Cliffs of Dover
Post by: Sir T on April 03, 2011, 07:07:25 PM
It seems this has come out as a bit of a mess (http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=7455&goto=search&pid=105024)...

Il2 Cliffs of Dover

I pre-ordered the game, got the download etc, a darn long process.

Then, the darn thing wouldn't work. Get to the menu etc, can't see anything for configuring a joystick. Anyway, lets load up and see what the action is. Problem is, it doesn't load up any of the listed games. Gets to about 90 per cent and freezes.

I had a look at their forum, lots of unhappy bunnies. Seems that this release, that you have to pay £30 for, is a beta release!!!!

A couple of players managed to get a mission going. Their problem was that once they'd cleared the skies of bombers, there was nothing. If you land, it's mission unaccomplished. You're supposed to wait, and wait, and wait, for a screen msg that mission is accomplished, whereupon, you hit Esc, to exit, and hopefully start another mission.

And, as a pre-release orderer, I was supposed to get a freebi game, Silent Service III - sure, it's listed, but, no way to download it.

I've asked for my money back. If you're thinking of purchasing, my advice is; don't.

Ubisoft, wrecking games since...

When was an Ilyushin Il-2 anywhere near the Cliffs of Dover anyway?

That's a shame to hear. I am a big IL-2 fan, especially since Maddox has been making patches, personally, for IL-2 for years and years.

Well, I've been waiting forever for this, I guess a bit longer won't be too bad.

Yeah, I was almost going to purchase this on Steam, but beforehand I luckily read on the forums about the abysmal launch state. Waiting....
