Post by: Furiously on April 01, 2011, 12:28:47 AM
A new way to compose email from google.
http://mail.google.com/mail/help/motion.html (http://mail.google.com/mail/help/motion.html)

And minecraft has a store!
http://www.minecraft.net/store/loot.jsp (http://www.minecraft.net/store/loot.jsp)

Gmail is also hiring autocompleters....
http://www.google.com/intl/en/jobs/uslocations/mountain-view/autocompleter/index.html (http://www.google.com/intl/en/jobs/uslocations/mountain-view/autocompleter/index.html)

Youtube allows you to view any video in 1911 - silent movie format... It makes this a lot better....

The web really has made April 1st a better holiday.

The guy demonstrating the Gmail motions made me chuckle every time he appeared in the video. I think it was his facial expression that sold the comedy genius of it.

The Heisenberg gag would be even funnier with something like 4square or Google lattitude, where you'd either get to know where he is or how fast he is going but not both.

Blizzard usually does a decent job. I'm wandering around their website with Crabby the Dungeon Helper giving me tips.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2568248

If you log into the website with your account, Crabby gives commentary on your characters too. Such as: "Worgen are definitely the most under-represented race"

Now I want someone to make the Crabby the Dungeon Helper add-on for the actual game.

I put it in the GW2 thread already, but for those who don't venture there:  The Commando (http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/commando/).

Also they added the Commando to the profession page.

Uh, I see blinking "New" text at the top.....

Granted, in the code they used CSS instead of the blink tag, but I think they had to do that for everything. :p

Yes, I know she is an obnoxious no talent teenager who some how created a music video.
I dont get why Funny or Die invested so much time in making millions of videos about her or a safety message (real?fake?) with her.

Or was the music video the actual joke on everyone? And she and her fame were created by Funny or Die?

Im old and confused.

Scientific American throws in the towel (http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=okay-we-give-up&flushCache=).

Quote
In retrospect, this magazine's coverage of so-called evolution has been hideously one-sided. For decades, we published articles in every issue that endorsed the ideas of Charles Darwin and his cronies. True, the theory of common descent through natural selection has been called the unifying concept for all of biology and one of the greatest scientific ideas of all time, but that was no excuse to be fanatics about it. Where were the answering articles presenting the powerful case for scientific creationism? Why were we so unwilling to suggest that dinosaurs lived 6,000 years ago or that a cataclysmic flood carved the Grand Canyon? Blame the scientists. They dazzled us with their fancy fossils, their radiocarbon dating and their tens of thousands of peer-reviewed journal articles. As editors, we had no business being persuaded by mountains of evidence.

Her fame is pretty much the same as chocolate rain guy....

Except he made a cheesy amateurish video that went viral due to 4Chan, and Rebeca Black seems to have gotten her's because her mommy and daddy have to much money?

So I still dont get it. And still dont understand why she made so many videos on Funny or Die making fun of herself. Unless the original music video was a plant by Funny or Die who were already planning to release their material after she got Youtube famous?

Parents buy their daughter a music video as a present. She picks a song written by 2 adult males. Video is made with her and her friends. They have fun.

Video is put on youtube. Hateswarm descends. Millions call for her head.

Song becomes a global meme. Sells a million copies on itunes.13 year old girl gives the money to Tsunami charity

Hateswarm descends, Millions still call for her head.

She's a cool kid.  She doesn't really look 13 though, I'm sure most folks (myself included) figured she was trying to get famous with that terrible song.

Nah, I read that there's a writer somewhere, and the parents ponied up 4K or something like that to some studio to make it. Its not 'an outrage' or anything, its still a small small production that went viral, but its not a DIY. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_(Rebecca_Black_song)
