Title: Spammers.

Spammers (http://f13.net/index.php?itemid=844)

I have turned off the ability for people with a yahoo.co.uk email address to sign up for the forums. If spam accounts continue to be made with hotmail.com addresses, that'll be next on the chopping block. Followed by Yahoo.com. I'm deleting 10+ users a day and frankly, we don't care if this inconveniences you. Get a gmail account of get an account with a real domain name.

That is all.

Ok fair enough, discussion thread is locked.

Sorry Arthur_Parker, you are banned from using this forum!
Yahoo.co.uk Email addresses are banned from registration. If you were erroneously banned because I turned this on, email admin (at) f13 (dot) net with your new (Gmail, or your own) email address.

Ok, but email doesn't seem to get through either

Just making you aware, I don't mind being Hogan again, more annoyed about potentially having to clear my chrome cache so I don't have to use IE.

Try your Arthur_Parker account again. I used your Hogan email address in your AP account and added a "2" at the end of your name in your Hogan email address. Let me know if you want me to change your Hogan email to something else real.

Hm, guess I should move my e-mail off of yahoo if you're doing retroactive bans of domains.

schild added a wildcard ban on *@yahoo.co.uk so that catches both existing users and new users unfortunately. Obviously it would be nicer to be able to grandfather in existing users but I don't think the default banning facility can do that.

Spammers are getting worse lately it seems.  I set my manga forum on admin approval for all new registrations because I was tired of the stealth!bots and human!bots we were getting.  It's a PITA because the site gets 40+ new regs a day, but worth it for me to poke through and ban accounts since it gives my mods less to worry about.  I'd noticed some of the new member names were in the same format as the latest wave of spammers I'd been seeing too.   Live.com is getting more common to use for emails now.  I guess I should check what email I have here; think it's a hotmail one since I tie my ISp email to nothing.

Yea... Admin@ probably isn't working (because I didn't set it up again). That's pretty funny. Explains why I've gotten less spam on my real email account.

Sadly for everyone, I'm unbanned.  :oh_i_see:

Yeah, the admin account you get on the messege doesn't work. Its only when I looked at www.f13.net that I found I had to email Schild.
