Title: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: NiX on February 17, 2011, 06:26:09 AM Bought this shirt (http://s3.amazonaws.com/wootsaleimages/Fox_MaidenknhDetail.png) from Woot! Got it a few days ago and found out the shirt was more peach coloured when I was expecting something more sand coloured.
Mens Small. Hasn't been worn and even freshly washed. Shippings on me! Edit: Shirt given away. Edited topic for shirt discussion. Title: Re: Free shirt from Woot! to a good home Post by: Phire on February 17, 2011, 06:38:21 AM But you look so cute in it :heartbreak:
Title: Re: Free shirt from Woot! to a good home Post by: JWIV on February 17, 2011, 06:43:19 AM So question about woot shirts - has anyone else had a problem where after 2-3 months they all start developing small holes?
Title: Re: Free shirt from Woot! to a good home Post by: Merusk on February 17, 2011, 07:18:43 AM I've had that problem with all cheap t-shirts from internet-purchased to Old Navy. They're cheap because the material is thinner than the plot of most Kid's cartoons. That means they're going to wear through p.d.q.

My wife would love it and constantly steals my shirts. It would also make a bar going shirt in these parts. Jokainen on vähän homo.

Not here. In fact, woot shirts have probably been the best cheap-shirts-from-the-Internet I've tried in terms of durability. Jinx ones aren't bad with Threadless bringing up the rear. I can't really give a good opinion on them because I have about 15 or so, they never get worn or washed too much. If you're finding they're getting holes, you might want to consider a t-shirt only wash on delicate with cold water. Want to get this shirt out by today because I'm packing over the weekend for my move, so I'll be sending it off to our resident Red Panda. Guess I'll edit the title so people can discuss shirt.woot in all its glory. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: CmdrSlack on February 17, 2011, 05:29:36 PM I always hang dry my tshirts.

This prevents shrink and seems to keep them nicer longer. Hang dry is definitely the way to go. I'm thinking for at least the woot shirts, I'll have to start washing them by themselves completely. A bit annoying since they're the first shirts I've had that seem to have this problem, but then again, they're also the first graphic tees I've worn since high school, so YMMV. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Paelos on February 17, 2011, 06:27:59 PM I always hang dry my tshirts. This prevents shrink and seems to keep them nicer longer. Hang dry T shirts? What are you people doing in these shirts exactly? Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Samwise on February 17, 2011, 06:41:40 PM I've got a few t-shirts in my wardrobe that have lasted me over a decade so far. They get washed with my jeans and thrown in the dryer. They're t-shirts. :headscratch:
Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Selby on February 17, 2011, 06:44:38 PM I have t-shirts from 1996-1997 timeframe that have been worn regularly throughout that time. No holes and still in decent shape. I don't wear XXL anymore, so they look funny on me though.
Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Merusk on February 17, 2011, 08:46:10 PM I've got 4 T-Shirts from High School that are still fine. Two of them are concert T's and the other two are swimming-related. They've all been washed on "normal" speed and tossed in a dryer on "normal" heat for the last 20 years. (Well, except the Megadeth T.. that one shrunk and hasn't fit me since 1996)
Their material on each is much thicker than any of the newer shirts or the internet shirt I'd received, however, leading to my previous comments about shirts being too thin and wearing-through. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Paelos on February 17, 2011, 08:49:31 PM I've got a few t-shirts in my wardrobe that have lasted me over a decade so far. I have some college ones I use to knock around on the weekends or when I go to the lake or something. I have others I use to work out. Are people going out in these T-Shirts? This may be one of those things we don't have in the South. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: NiX on February 17, 2011, 08:53:05 PM I wear t-shirts about 5 out of 7 days of the week. Of course I'm afforded that kind of luxury at work and my co-workers/boss enjoy catching me on a day where I wear I new one.

You're an accountant from the South so word hasn't reached you yet. Professional dress is dead, what you call "weekend dress-down" is now "Business Casual" and the uniform of white collar workers everywhere else. Sort wardrobes out from that benchmark and you'll discover that T-shirts are indeed clubbing or "dress down day at work" attire. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: MahrinSkel on February 17, 2011, 09:50:10 PM The last time I worked for a company with a dress code, it was 1997. The dress code was "shirts must have collars and full-length buttons in front." I got bitched out for wearing something like these:
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/310N35XEo8L.jpg) A collar-less dress shirt, which I had a lot of from an earlier job where they gave me an excuse not to wear a tie around machinery full of high-speed belts (automated check sorters). So from then on I wore hawaiians and club shirts. --Dave Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: bhodi on February 18, 2011, 06:35:09 AM Friends don't let friends wear hawaiian shirts. :/

I wear a polo shirt, khakis, and nice shoes. Clubbing in a T-shirt, though? I don't even tailgate at football games in a T-Shirt, let alone wear one at work. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Strazos on February 18, 2011, 02:45:58 PM Only if it's a super fancy trendy kid t-shirt. I still generally wear a real shirt if I go out anywhere.
But at least now I don't have to wear a suit everyday to work, for the next 6 months or so. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Give it another 10 years and Track Suits and wife beaters will be all the rage. Those guys from Jersey are just ahead of the curve. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Jimbo on February 19, 2011, 11:47:04 AM My son is a freshman in high school, they wear wife beaters as a style sometimes, but they go from dressed up with a tie and long sleeve shirt and slacks down to the wife beater with Chuck's and jeans.
I wear dark (navy, black, gray) t-shirts under my scrub tops, they are Starter brand and have lasted about 4 years of heavy duty wash and machine dry on high (I take them out and fold so they don't wrinkle), the newer t-shirts seem to suck, being a lot thinner. I've been wanting to buy some from Duluth Trading Co (http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/home.aspx?feature=Image_Link_10) , my friend bought some really nice button down shirts from them and they have held up great. They are more expensive, buy you get what you pay for. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: Paelos on February 19, 2011, 12:11:17 PM Sheesh, talk about living in the past. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: murdoc on February 19, 2011, 05:56:11 PM Work is button up or polo shirts and khaki's, as long as it has a collar it's fair game.
I wear t-shirts pretty much everywhere else I go. Title: Re: The greatness of shirt.woot! Post by: CmdrSlack on February 20, 2011, 12:23:18 PM I hang dry my shirts if they're stuff like Threadless shirts. Also, if it's that newer kind of shirt that seems thinner and more likely to shrink, I will hang it to dry.
Then I have other shirts that I've owned since 1998 and that have always been dried. I have to wear button up shirts and/or suits every day at work. When not working, I'm almost always wearing a tshirt. Quote Hang dry T shirts? What are you people doing in these shirts exactly? I just want to keep the ones that I bought to replace the old, destroyed ones to stay nicer longer. The stuff from Threadless, &c. is pretty nice. Post by: Sky on February 22, 2011, 08:35:01 PM Our dress code was recently loosened, the next day I wore my best suit :p Some stuff made sense, like taking out stockings for women (srsly) and adding clauses to cover modern trends like saggy pants and jammy bottoms. Merusk - one reason I like the three piece, besides looking awesome, the tie is contained behind the vest. Much less annoying.
I'm a hound for clearance racks, but as I said, vests are really tough to find, especially on clearance. I usually get stuff around 70% off, else I'd not be able to afford dressing like I do (and I can't even really afford the clearance stuff now, heh). I mostly cobble the parts together, since I can only get pants online (sizing in stores is awful, and tailoring = $$). Anyway. I do buy concert t-shirts to support artists. They have sales pretty frequently around here and tailoring is included when you buy from them. Now, granted, the quality of said tailoring varies GREATLY from store to store* and the suits themselves aren't fantastic, but I figure it'll do in a pinch. *(The very first suit I owned from there lost its stitching within 6 months.
