Title: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Hoax on January 23, 2011, 06:02:48 PM Well week 2 kind of screwed me, Morsel should have ended up with the draw I predicted and I should have got the win. If you can't land predictions of your own division that you scout closely who can you count on? Also I missed some of the easier games to pick as they were played so early. So this week I'm trying to get my picks out before anyone can play.
Current Record 15-12 Week 2 Predictions: Figured that out, had to mess with adding a button and then use the league selected via drop down. For those wondering about last week's predictions Lameros went 8-8 and I went 10-6 (I hit on my most lopsided victory but missed on my upset special of Falc losing). My picks for what is left of this week are upcoming. Here are my picks for week 2, sorry for missing so many games: Battletech: Negative Capability over Fiesta Orient: North by Northwest all over Beetles *My pick for most lopsided of the week (AGAIN!), he has no Throw Ra :awesome_for_real:* Catfighters over Gut Spillers Wildcards over Hackers ***UPSET SPECIAL*** Stormbringer: Morsel draw Snoosnoo Silver Horde over Wrestlers Nifty Helmets draw Offsidhes *my pick for someone dies in this game!* I win as usual, in fact I may end up killing a few of his skinks for good measure! ere we go ere we go ere we go... *ahem* back to the picks. Twilight2000: Bell Jar over Swedgins Rat Country over Strongmen Dandies draw Harbingers Games of the week: -Spleen Flay Hackers versus Wildcards: in an all evil elf affair. Both teams come in a little banged up but should expect no respite in a pivotal match in Orient Division, can one team take the win and become an early playoff favorite? -Nifty Helmets versus Offsidhes: talk about two teams that are damaged goods after week one. Can their coaches keep the remaining roster alive? Will they play more cautiously or with even more reckless abandon? -North by Northwest versus Beetles: doesn't everyone want to watch a game where the Khemri have no Throw-Ra? I know I do. -Dandies versus Harbingers: in our you don't see that every day department we have humans versus the forces of decay. I'm thinking that one of the big men is going to get jacked up in this match but it will be interesting to see if the humans use their legendary flexibility and switch to a passing attack against a team whose defense can be tough to break down. Picks so far this season 10-6 Week 1 predictions: My picks are as follows. Battletech: -Fleshwound and Beardstorm draw -Rape of Skabine over Negative Capability -7 Deadly over Fiesta -Alive not Dead over Hippies ***My pick for most blood spilled this week! Orient: -North by Northwest and Gut Spillers draw. -Wildcards over Beetles ***My pick for most lopsided victory -Catfighters over Bashtards -Hackers over Peace Dogs Stormbringer: -Snoosnoo over Nifty Helmets -I'm going to win every week -Burninluv and Morsel draw -Silver Horde over Offsidhes Twilight2000: -Dandies over Bell Jar ***Upset Special -Diplomatic Immunity over Strongman -Necco Waivers over Swedgins -Rat Country over Harbingers Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Hoax on January 23, 2011, 06:25:01 PM Week 3 picks:
Battletech Division: Beardstorm draw with Alive not Dead Hippies over Fiesta Negative Capability over 7 Deadly Skabine draw with Flesh Wound Orient Division: Hackers over North by Northwest Catfighters over Peace Dogs Beetles draw with Bashtards Wildcards over Gutspillers Stormbringer Division: Snoosnoo over Wrestlers Morsel over Nifty Helmets Scarlet and Grey over Silver Horde ***UPSET SPECIAL*** (fuck yeah I bet on myself, what of it?) Burninluv over Offsidhes Twilight2000: Waivers over Bell Jar Diplomatic Immunity over Harbingers Rat Country over Dandies Strongman draw with Swedgins Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Llyse on January 23, 2011, 06:35:38 PM Week 3 picks:
Battletech Division: Alive not Dead of course vs beardies Hippies over Fiesta - Didn't expect 7-0 though.. :ye_gods: Negative Capability over 7 Deadly Boo, a Draw is like kissing your sister.. Skabine over Flesh Wound Lamaros fires up after a slow start Orient Division: North by Northwest over Hackers - Totally didn't see this coming, Season 3 might be Dark Elftime... Bashtards over Beetles (No-ra you lose la) - Same again here, proudft is doing great after losing an early Throw-ra... Catfighters over Peace Dogs - Hard fought match by Haemish (go the underdog!) Wildcards over Gutspillers Stormbringer Division: Snoosnoo over Wrestlers - Great draw by Reborne to liven things up! Morsel over Nifty Helmets - Megrim's first win of the season is a hard fought 1-0! Scarlet and Grey over Silver Horde - Another draw between New Orc and Old Norse Burninluv over Offsidhes - Kail showing his Elves aren't just DBZ characters and actually winning as well as looking funky! :drillf: Twilight2000: Waivers over Bell Jar - Two heavyweights fight out and stumble to the floor together Diplomatic Immunity over Harbingers - David and Goliath... Rat Country over Dandies - I have got to stop betting on the Skaven teams, that and Ruvaldt has the worst luck. Finally Bann is doing human supporters proud! Strongman over Swedgins - No comment Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: lamaros on January 23, 2011, 06:52:06 PM Week 3 picks:
Battletech Division: Beardstorm draw with Alive not Dead Fiesta over Hippies Negative Capability over 7 Deadly Orient Division: Hackers draw with North by Northwest Catfighters over Peace Dogs Beetles over Bashtards Wildcards over Gutspillers Stormbringer Division: Snoosnoo over Wrestlers Morsel over Nifty Helmets Silver Horde over Scarlet and Grey Burninluv over Offsidhes Twilight2000: Bell Jar over Waivers Diplomatic Immunity draw with Harbingers Rat Country over Dandies Strongman over Swedgins Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ruvaldt on January 23, 2011, 07:02:14 PM My picks for week 3. This is a pretty exciting week. I think Waivers v. Bell Jar is going to be a highlight, but I see a lot here worth watching.
Battletech Division: Alive not Dead over Beardstorm (I pray) Hippies over Fiesta 7 Deadly over Negative Capability Skabine over Flesh Wound...I think Skabine is due Orient Division: North by Northwest over Hackers Catfighters over Peace Dogs Bashtards over Beetles Wildcards over Gutspillers Stormbringer Division: Snoosnoo ties with Wrestlers Morsel over Nifty Helmets Scarlet and Grey over Silver Horde Burninluv ties with Offsidhes Twilight2000: Waivers over Bell Jar (Please?) Diplomatic Immunity over Harbingers Strongman ties with Swedgins I won't predict my own match; I still haven't watched the Dandies' replays yet, but will be tomorrow. 8 right, 7 wrong. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Megrim on January 23, 2011, 08:37:14 PM God, stop tipping me. I haven't won a game this season yet.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Falconeer on January 24, 2011, 01:39:18 AM Battletech Division:
Alive not Dead over Beardstorm! Hippies over Fiesta Negative Capability draw with 7 Deadly Skabine over Flesh Wound Orient Division: Hackers over North by Northwest Catfighters over Peace Dogs Bashtards over Beetles Wildcards over Gutspillers Stormbringer Division: Snoosnoo over Wrestlers Morsel over Nifty Helmets Silver Horde draw with Scarlet and Grey Offsidhes over Burninluv Twilight2000: Bell Jar over Waivers Diplomatic Immunity over Harbingers Rat Country over Dandies Strongman draw with Swedgins 1 / 1 so far Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: IainC on January 24, 2011, 02:34:15 AM My Day 3 predictions.
Battletech Division: Beardstorm to beat Alive Not Dead in a 1-0 grindfest - I got the score right but the result was the other way around. Hippies to beat Undread Fiesta - Correct, 7-0 thrashing. 7 Deadly over Negative Capability - Wrong, it was a draw. Merely a Flesh Wound to beat Rape of Skabine - Wrong, 3-0 to the Skaven. Orient Division: Norse by Norsewest to draw with Hackers. 1-1 - Very happy to get this one wrong. 2-0 to me! Catfighters to murder Peace Dogs 4-0 - Catfighters won but only 2-0 Bashtards over Beetles - Wrong. Wildcards over Gutspillers - AndyDavo only has half a team but I think he'll run circles around the Undead - Correct! Stormbringer Division: Snoosnoo to beat Wrestlers 3-0 - I was way off here. 1-1 draw in the end. Helmets to beat Morsel - Wrong! Scarlet and Grey over Silver Horde - this is my pick for Match of the Day. - 1-1 Draw Burninluv to beat Offsidhes - Wrong, 3-0 to Offsidhes. Twilight2000: Bell Jar to beat the Waivers in a close game that Falc almost throws away in some hilarious manner - Close, Falc managed to actually throw away the win and got out with a draw. Diplomatic Immunity over Harbingers - Correct! Strongman to beat Swedgins - Correct! Rat Country to beat Dandies - Wrong! I think the best matches to watch will be in Stormbringer - Ramas v Hoax and Drogg v Kailas should be very close games on previous form. Edit: 5/16 right. Holy shit I'm bad at predictions. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Llyse on January 24, 2011, 04:49:54 AM So close Iain but I won that 1-0 grindfest :drill:
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ruvaldt on January 24, 2011, 04:58:16 AM I had faith in ya, Llyse.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Sky on January 24, 2011, 06:28:40 AM I think ya'll are nuts-ra.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: IainC on January 29, 2011, 05:22:27 PM Going to pre-empt things here with Week 4 predictions. I may amend a few before the next week starts once the final few AARs are posted and we see what state the teams are in but, based on previous form and my own slightly less than infallible gut, here are my predictions.
Battletech Beardstorm vs Hippies - Both teams have had uneven form so far. I predict that the Elves will play around the Dwarf defence and win. - Nope, Dwarfs won 2-1. 7 Deadly vs Alive Not Dead - Catfud is the favourite going in unbeaten but the lizards are a solid team. A draw - Convincing 3-0 victory for Alive Not Dead. Rape of Skabine vs Undread Fiesta - The Undead are dead last with no points scored. I predict that this will not be the game that elevates them. Win for the Skaven. - Correct due to Nix retiring from the league Merely a Fleshwound vs Negative Capability - Upset of the group. Fleshwound to beat Negative Capability in a close match. - Game was close but NC came away with the win. Orient Wishmaster's Wildcards vs North by Northwest - AndyDavo's team will have recovered somewhat but hopefully the Norse will be fired up to murder any Dark Elves they can get their hands on. Close game but I predict the Wildcards to win. - 1-0 to the WIldcards Gut Spillers vs Bashtards - Rookie throwdown, could go either way but I pick Sky to come away with the points. - 1-0 to the Spillers Burrowing Beetles vs Peace Dogs - I'd like to root for the Peace Dogs but I think this will be a convincing victory for the Beetles. - Correct 2-0 to the Beetles. F13 Catfighters vs Spleen Flay Hackers - This game will be a pivotal match for the playoffs. Comstar's ability to actually pay attention and not do stupid shit will probably trump my random clicking. 2-1 to the Amazons. - 2-1 to the Dark Elves! Stormbringer Team Snoosnoo vs Offsidhes - Snoosnoo are the favourites and I don't expect them to be seriously troubled by the Elves. 3-0 to the Orcs. - Orcs win but in a closer game than predicted. Silver Horde FC vs Hunqua Hunqua Burninluv - The Norse go in with a massive TV advantage and I don't see the Lizards breaking that down. Grindy but inevitable win for the Horde (see what I did there?). - Scoreless draw Morsel vs Scarlet and Grey - another massive TV difference but I think that results speak for themselves. Hoax to win a close game. - Megrim won. Reborne's Wrestlers vs Nifty Helmets - Bottom of the table rumble. Hard to call but I think I'll root for the Ogres. - 2-2 draw Twilight 2000 Rat Country vs Bell Jar United - The Skaven will have a lot of inducements in this match and both sides will take a lot of casualties. I predict that the Amazons will collect the points though. - Correct, 2-0 to Falc. Undead Swedgins vs Harbingers of Homeopathy - Another scramble at the bottom of the table. Neither team has any points so far but that has to change. Sir T to win despite himself. - Nope, 4-0 to the Undead Strongman vs Necco Waivers - two teams with almost identical records but I think the experience of the Waivers will carry them through. - Nope, 2-0 to the Orcs. The Dandies vs Diplomatic Immunity - another pivotal playoff match. Betting against Strazos is a bold move so I'll take the safe bet and say 2-1 to the Norse. - Spot on, score and winner correct! Bear in mind my batting average was pretty bad last week so if I've called the match against you then you should feel reasonably confident going in. Games to watch: Wildcards vs North by Northwest. There will be a lot of blood in this game, the Norse will be trying to revenge themselves on anything Elf shaped and the Wishmasters have to win if they want to keep a playoff spot in sight. Beardstorm vs Hippies. Both have experienced coaches and diametrically opposite match tactics. If the Dwarfs can hold the ball, the Elves will never get it off them, however the Elves have shown that they are extremely good at moving the ball around and sending opponents the wrong way. If they are allowed to play like that then the Dwarfs will be lucky to even be on the same pitch as the ball. Dead Elves can't catch anything though... Rat Country vs Bell Jar. Falc knows what he is doing and has the better team, Ruvaldt will have a lot of gold to spend though and not even Amazon blitzers can dodge lightning bolts. 6/16 in total, marginally better than last week but still bad. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ruvaldt on February 03, 2011, 08:46:18 AM Well, I was 8 - 7 with the last batch, so not bad, but hopefully I can improve. This week looks particularly exciting. I see at least 6 games that I'd like to watch, and perhaps more depending upon how they turn out.
Battletech Hazardous Hippies over Beardstorm - It's just going to be too difficult for Beardstorm to outscore the Hippies, I think. Unless Nuffle decides that Teleku's team needs a sizable culling, I don't see the Hippies losing this one. Alive not Dead over 7 Deadly - I'll probably watch this replay as it seems like a curious match-up. Rape of Skabine over Undead Fiesta Merely a Fleshwound draws with Negative Capability Cthulhu The Wishmasters Wildcards draws with North by Northwest - I am loathe to bet against either one at this point so I'm betting on a draw. I'll probably tune in to this one as well. Gut Spillers draws with Bashtards - This one could go either way, I think, and Nuffle could pick the winner. Burrowing Beetles over Peace Dogs - The Khemri have surprised the hell out of me doing very well without their Thro-Ra. I've decided to not bet against them because I think this game will turn into a brawl and Proudft has shown already that he's got no problem winning those. F13 Catfighters over Spleen Flay Hackers - Huge game. My money is on the Catfighters. Stormbringer - This division is ridiculously difficult for me to predict for some reason. I may as well just draw their names out of a hat. Team Snoosnoo over Offsidhes Silver Horde over Burninluv Morsel draws with Scarlet and Grey Nifty Helmets over Wrestlers Twilight 2000 Undeadwood Swedgins draws with Homeopathy - I can't decide so I'll split the difference and pray that they both just manage to bash a TD in or maybe none at all. Necco Waivers over Strongman - This is a big game in the division, and one I am eager to see resolved. I think the Waivers will pull off a victory here, but it'll be close. Diplomatic Immunity over The Dandies - This one could be close as well, but I'm betting on Strazos and his blodgey Norse against the hummies. 4 - 6. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: proudft on February 03, 2011, 08:51:03 AM Burrowing Beetles over Peace Dogs - The Khemri have surprised the hell out of me doing very well without their Thro-Ra. Hey, I have a Thro-Ra again! Well, for now. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Sky on February 03, 2011, 09:26:34 AM He had a merc thro-ra in my game. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Celer on February 03, 2011, 10:06:19 AM I guarantee either the Swedgins or Homeopathy will score their first TD this week. Because if nobody scores in the first half, the Swedgins are going to get restless...

It wouldn't be the first time that happened.Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ingmar on February 03, 2011, 11:44:19 AM I guess Khemri linemen are cheap enough that if he had multiple injuries his TV would still have been driven low enough to hire a temp.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: proudft on February 03, 2011, 11:53:29 AM Yeah, my TV was pretty low. I got one or two free skeletons, and hired a mercenary thro-ra.

Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Falconeer on February 03, 2011, 03:52:11 PM One thing you should know when predicting my match vs. Ruvaldt, his team has 2 players sidelined for injuries, one of them being his best gutter runner.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Megrim on February 03, 2011, 03:58:27 PM You should sideline all the rest.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Falconeer on February 03, 2011, 04:10:40 PM That's the gameplan.
Mary and Virginia didn't enjoy the long break. They don't play Blood Bowl to pay the bills, they are in it for the blood.. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Sir T on February 03, 2011, 04:43:30 PM Not commenting on ho my game w Celer will go (as I genuinely have no idea) but I thought I'd let the predictors know I have a level 2 Beast of Nurgle now with Stand Firm as a new skill, so its harder to push aside. Looking forward to seeing how that works in the field.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Falconeer on February 03, 2011, 05:07:36 PM I love the nurglers, but I am curious about the Stand Firm skill, is it really worth it for a beast that is not going down much anyway? And does it have block already?
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ruvaldt on February 03, 2011, 05:15:43 PM Yeah, I bought a new GR to cover for the one injured, but I'm still out an experienced blitzer with wrestle. I'll be getting some nice inducements, but other than that, I am not hopeful. Still, I'll fight like hell as usual.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Sir T on February 03, 2011, 05:18:43 PM I love the nurglers, but I am curious about the Stand Firm skill, is it really worth it for a beast that is not going down much anyway? And does it have block already? Nope. Block is a doubles skill for the Beast so its rare. Stand Firm is a good one for it as it allows it to pin people with its tentacles more reliably, as it cant be pushed back and once you have its Aura in place its staying there. From what I read anyway  Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: lamaros on February 03, 2011, 05:20:49 PM Yeah I think stand firm is a good option.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ruvaldt on February 03, 2011, 05:27:56 PM Stand Firm is also the first I would get. The only contender might be guard. Maybe grab.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ingmar on February 03, 2011, 05:29:44 PM Break tackle is also handy on a beast at times. Not before the other 2 though.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Kalle on February 04, 2011, 12:48:44 AM Block is naturally top priority for the beast but I would take Break Tackle on it as a first skill any time I didn't roll doubles. Stand Firm second, Guard third.
Why? Because a Beast needs to be tying up as many players as possible to be effective. It is the ultimate roadblock and usually it does it's best work without either blocking or blitzing. But to fill that task you need to be able to move him around. Without Break Tackle you'll often find your beast tied up by a single lineman while the action has moved to another area of the pitch. Sure, you could block him. But you don't have Block as a rule so it's somewhat risky and even if you're successful you're no closer to being where you're most useful. Break Tackle will let you put your Beast right where it will hurt your opponent most, every turn (when he's not Stupid). Stand Firm is a great secondary skill because it will keep your Beast from getting pushed away but being able to move around the pitch freely is better. Guard. Well, you have four ST4 players and four players with Horns already, all of them with Strength skill access. You can fill that role in other ways. What you can't do easily is get another ST5 player with Tentacles. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: lamaros on February 06, 2011, 03:40:30 PM Don't tip yourself unless you want to be disappointed!
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: lamaros on February 06, 2011, 08:45:57 PM Back to normal tipping this week. The hopeful tipping was a disaster.
Battletech Merely a Fleshwound over Undread Fiesta - Nix has retired from the league unfortunately. Hippies over 7 Deadly - Teleku plays a reckless game and is down a few players for this one. I am really interested to see how it goes but I think Tele has the edge with his skilled players. Beardstorm! over Negative Capability - Ice is due to run out of luck, and the bearded ones are gathering momentum. I would prefer to see a draw, but I think Ingmar will take it. - A Draw! Yes! Cthulhu This group is the most exciting, with two early favourites in Comstar and Andy feeling some heat from Iain and proudft. Andy should walk home, but Iain and proudft have their future in their own hands. If Iain pulls out the win then last years finalist will really be feeling the heat. He might have to beat AndyDavo on the final day of the season to secure his place - and he has the take on the Beetles in round 6 too! North by Northwest lose to Catfighters - Comstar to bounce back. Beetles over Spleen Flay Hackers - Beetles to take the win and keep the top 4 the most open in the league. A huge game and my match of the round. Gut Spillers draw with Peace Dogs - Unfortunately I don't think the elves have it in them this season, and the Undead aren't going so well across the leagues either. A score draw. 3 - 1 to the Gut Spillers. Wildcards over Bashtards - AndyDavo will win again. Stormbringer Snoosnoo and Ramas probably have the edge, but Megrim is coming home strong. Second place might be fought between the Vampires and the Norse on the final day of the season. Burninluv lose to Snoosnoo - Snoosnoo are nearly as clear favourites as Llyse to win their group and make the finals. I don't think they'll drop this one. Burninluv spring the upset! Scarlet and Gray over Offsidhes - Hoax to snatch another win and give himself as outside chance to leave the group. Helmets lose to Silver Horde - Silver Horde to keep the pressure on Morsel for that second place. Wrestlers lose to Morsel - Megrim has go himself going and a horde of fat idiots isn't going to be able to stop him. Twilight 2000 This group is still wide open, but this week will be decisive. Strazos will almost book his ticket with a win this week, as will Falc. Loses for either of them will be a disaster however, as they come face to face the week after. Strongman will upset the applecart with another win. Strongman over Bell Jar - Falc to lose and start sweating on the finals. Upset! Dandies over Swedgins - Dandies to bounce back and keep hope alive. Diplomatic Immunity over Rat Country - The Rats won't be tough enough to stay on the pitch against Straz's leveled warriors. Necco Waivers over Homeopathy - Aviva to take the win, but leaving his run for the finals too late. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Falconeer on February 07, 2011, 03:28:34 AM Everyone keeps predicting my demise. It has been quite mellow and pleasant so far to disappoint.
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Llyse on February 07, 2011, 06:43:42 AM Battletech
Wolfs > Rats - Nuff' said. Hippies over 7 Deadly - Teleku is seriously down on players but never on pluck Beardstorm! over Negative Capability - Ingmar is going to grind it out of Ice after stopping Tele Cthulhu Catfighters over North by Northwest - Please prove me wrong Xuri! Spleen Flay Hackers over Proudft's Beetles - Stab the THROW-RA! Peace Dogs over Gut Spillers - First win for Haemish! Wildcards over Bashtards - Andy has slept through more games than I've played Stormbringer Snoosnoo over Burninluv - I like Lizards but he has a tacklin' freight train... Scarlet and Gray over Offsidhes - Hoax to bounce back after losing to Megrim Silver Horde over Helmets - Poor Gruntle and his nifty helmet ain't gonna do squat Morsel over Wrestlers - Reborne to leave burning dog shit on Megrim's doorstep Twilight 2000 Bell Jar over Strongman - Krummi is doing great but Falc is the League Commissioner... Dandies over Swedgins - Dandies are doing great for a Human team in bash land Rat Country over Diplomatic Immunity - Ruvaldt's luck has to turn... eventually... Necco Waivers over Homeopathy - SirT ain't winning over Whitemane I'm 8-8 after Week 3 picks... Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: HaemishM on February 07, 2011, 08:09:31 AM Peace Dogs over Gut Spillers - First win for Haemish! I hope you're right. I'd be happy to get a goddamn touchdown at this point. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Cadaverine on February 07, 2011, 05:49:42 PM Merely a Fleshwound over Undread Fiesta - Nix has retired from the league unfortunately. I think you're sorely underestimating my ability to lose a match. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: IainC on February 13, 2011, 07:37:19 AM I missed posting predictions for the current game day and by the time I could get around to it, a bunch of games had already been played. Curse you keeners for leaping in as soon as the day ticks over!
Anyway, with only a couple of games left for Day 5, here are my Day 6 predictions. I'm still terrible at Battletech Undread vs Beardstorm. Win for the stunties by default due to Nix retiring from the league. Negative Capability vs Alive Not Dead. Necromantic face off between the two teams leading their division. Electric game and a must-win for both coaches. I predict points for AnD however. - 1-1 Draw Merely a Fleshwound vs Hazardous Hippies. Evenly matched teams and could go both ways. I think that the Fleshwounds will take their first win of the league. - Welp, 6-1 stuffing by the Hippies. Rape of Skabine vs 7 Deadly. Two coaches with erratic form and closely matched teams. I think the lizards will win this one though. - 1-1 Draw. Cthulhu North by Northwest vs Bashtards. Both coaches have identical records but Xuri has the better team. Points to the Norse in what should be one of the most violent games of the day. - Bashtards win narrowly Peace Dogs vs Wishmasters Wildcards. AndyDavo only has six fit players for this but I expect him to romp home to a 3-0 victory regardless. - Almost got the score right, 3-1 to the Dark Elves. Spleen Flay Hackers vs Gut Spillers. My team overpowers the Undead by a large margin and I expect this will be enough to let me cruise to a comfortable win. 2-0 to the Dark Elves. - 2-1 but the points went to me as predicted. F13 Cafighters vs Burrowing Beetles. Huge game. Both teams have to win if they want to remain in contention. Comstar is the favourite going in and will likely take the points but I predict that the Khemrians will do a lot of damage. - Correct 3-0 to the Amazons although with less violence than expected. Stormbringer Silver Horde vs Team Snoosnoo. Top of the table rumble in a very close division. Both teams need the win to keep a playoff spot in sight. I predict the Norse will upset the order and take the win. - Correct, 1-0 to the Horde. Offsidhes vs Morsel. Offsidhes are out of the playoffs but can still damage Morsel's chances of a spot. Morsel needs the win and I expect that he will get one although 700 gold of inducements will sting. - Correct! 3-0 to Morsel Hunqua Hunqua Burninluv vs Reborne's Wrestlers. Lizards to win in a gorefest of a game. - 3-0 to the Lizards! Scarlet and Grey vs Nifty Helmets. Two closely matched teams and coaches but I think the Orcs will have the edge here. - Correct, 2-0 to S&G. Twilight 2000 Diplomatic Immunity vs The Bell Jar. Game of the day for me. Falc's unbroken record was smashed recently and Strazos knows his way around a pitch. A win for the Norse keeps them in contention while a win for the girls guarantees them a spot. Win for the Norse. - Correct, 1-0 to Strazos. Necco Waivers vs The Dandies. Both teams are too far down to make a playoff run, both have identical records but the Undead have the better team. Win for the Waivers. - 1-1 draw Harbingers vs Strongman. Uneven matchup between the top and bottom team. Krummi to book his playoff ticket with a convincing win over the Nurgle team. - Strongman wins but with only one TD. Rat Country vs Undeadwood Swedgins. Scramble at the drain end of the table between two closely matched teams. I think the Skaven will take it though. - Correct! 2-1 to the Rats. Games to watch: Now we are getting close to the playoffs, the pressure is mounting and the potential finalists are taking shape. The following games will be crucial for the playoff chances of their coaches. Proudft vs Comstar. Proudft has only a very slim chance of making the playoffs but he can certainly cripple Comstar's ambitions. Comstar needs to win and he needs to keep his team alive against one of the bashiest teams in the division in preparation for his crunch match on day 7 with AndyDavo. If Comstar loses or draws he is effectively out of the running. Proudft can still go through but he needs to beat Comstar and he needs the stars to align in various unlikely ways in other games too. Falc vs Strazos. Strazos needs the win more than Falc does, especially as Falc is practically guaranteed three more points on day 7. Krummi is almost certain to confirm his place in Day 6 with an unassailable 16 points, Strazos needs 6 points from two games to book the second spot while Falc needs only 4. Brocktoon vs Ramas. The winner of this game will draw out a valuable lead on the division. With Megrim and Drogg breathing down their necks and likely to collect three points apiece as well, neither team can afford to drop any points at this stage. Edit: Accuracy: 10/15 (not counting the Nix/Ingmar game) Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Strazos on February 13, 2011, 08:14:59 AM I see an error in them thar positions, as I haven't played my Day 5 game yet...
Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Ruvaldt on February 13, 2011, 08:28:18 AM Yep, Strazos and I are having our showdown tonight. I may be out of playoff contention, but I can still be a spoiler. :drill:

Undread lose to Beardstorm. Negative Capability lose to Alive Not Dead. Llyse has the skill advantage. Only a Wizard can help bridge the gap, but I can't see it happening. Ice to lose his first game. Merely a Fleshwound lose to Hazardous Hippies. Teleku has gone against me with every prediction I think, but I'm going for him again here. Cthulhu North by Northwest defeats Bashtards. Peace Dogs lose to Wishmasters Wildcards.. Spleen Flay Hackers defeats Gut Spillers. Can't see IainC dropping the ball after coming this far. F13 Cafighters defeats Burrowing Beetles. Comstar will win easily. 3-0 Stormbringer Silver Horde lose to Team Snoosnoo. Snoosnoo bounces back. Offsidhes lose to Morsel. Vampires will take this one. Hunqua Hunqua Burninluv defeats Reborne's Wrestlers. Ogres are too hard a team to win with, even for Reborne. Scarlet and Grey defeats Nifty Helmets. Unleveled chaos doesn't have enough to get past the orcs. Twilight 2000 Diplomatic Immunity lose to The Bell Jar. Falc has the advantage at high TV I feel. Necco Waivers defeats The Dandies. Aviva to get some wins in, but it's too late. Harbingers lose to Strongman. Nurgle has struggled and facing the top team isn't going to build confidence. Rat Country defeats Undeadwood Swedgins. Key Matches Ice vs Llyse. This match will define the chances of the contenders for second place. Everyone wants Ice to lose apart from himself. Proudft vs Comstar. Comstar needs to win this one, if he doesn't it's all over bar the shouting. Brocktoon vs Ramas. Pressure match! Amazingly close group still. Falc vs Strazos. Neither can afford to lose, though strazos even less so. Falc can probably play for the draw and TD difference, but will he? Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Reborne on February 16, 2011, 01:02:45 PM Ogres are too hard a team to win with, even for Reborne. Anyone could think you're implying that I'm a good coach :why_so_serious: Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: avaia on February 16, 2011, 01:13:06 PM Ogres are too hard a team to win with, even for Reborne. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Modern Angel on February 16, 2011, 02:53:52 PM I fucking love playing with my ogres. Reborne's got precisely the right attitude toward playing the game with one of the joke teams, too.

Reborne's got precisely the right attitude toward playing the game with one of the joke teams, too. Amen to that, I wish I'd gone through with my Halfling team. Pro Elf is just gimp enough that I can't really do much spectacularly well, but not so gimp that I don't have a chance. And my casualty rates would probably be about the same, too YOU GIBBERING PSYCHOPATHS :mob: Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: IainC on February 20, 2011, 06:31:04 AM Day Seven Prediction time as there are only two games in Day 6 left to go:
With the playoffs looming, every score is critical for those with cup aspirations. Some teams are out of the running but can still shatter the dreams of their opponent and some matches will be head-to-head affairs where the loser gives up their playoff berth. Only three teams go into the final day with unbeaten records, will they keep that unblemished score into the playoffs? Teams in yellow are in playoff contention. Battletech Beardstorm v Rape of Skabine - Both teams can go through with a win although they need Negative Capability to lose. Beardstorm to win. - Wrong, 3-2 to the Skaven Merely a Fleshwound vs 7 Deadly - Close game but points for the Lizards - Wrong 2-1 to the Undead Negative Capability vs Hazardous Hippies - A win guarantees ICE a spot, a draw will do if Ingmar loses. I predict an upset and that the Hippies will win. - Correct 4-1 to the Elves Undread Fiesta vs Alive Not Dead - With a guaranteed 3 points AnD will go top of their division on the final day. Cthulhu Peace Dogs vs North by Northwest - bottom of the table skirmish, Xuri to win convincingly. - Wrong, Elves win 2-0 Bashtards vs Spleen Flay Hackers - I just need a draw to guarantee a playoff spot, a loss requires that Comstar also loses. Still I feel confident and expect to take 3 points from this game. - Wrong 1-0 to the Orcs. Fuck this game. Wishmasters WIldcards vs F13 Catfighters - Easily the game of the day. Whoever wins gets a playoff spot. A draw sees both teams through if I lose to Sky. Comstar cannot lose if he wants to go further. Coinflip match but I'm rooting for Comstar here. Gut Spillers vs Burrowing Beetles - Khemri vs Undead in bashy game. I think the Gut Spillers will take the points. - Wrong 2-0 to the Beetles Stormbringer Snoosnoo vs Scarlet and Grey - Nothing less than a win will keep either coaches' playoff dreams alive. SnooSnoo to win in an all Orc grudgematch. - Wrong 1-1 Huhnqua Huhnqua Burninluv vs Nifty Helmets - The Lizards have to win if they want a playoff spot and I don't expect the Chaos team to stand in their way. - Correct. 4-0 thrashing by HHBl Offsidhes vs Reborne's Wrestlers - The only game of the day in this division that has no bearing on the playoffs. Elves to dance around the Ogres for a comfortable win. Silver Horde vs Morsel - Both teams will be looking to confirm their playoff berth. Morsel's Vampires are far superior despite a worse win record and I predict that they will book their place today. Twilight 2000 Bell Jar vs Harbingers of Homeopathy - Falc will have little problem taking away three points from Sir T's Nurgle team. He'll still need to rely on Strazos losing to Celer though if he wants a playoff spot. - Wrong, 1-1 Necco Waivers vs Rat Country - Closely matched coaches but the Undead have the better team and that will give them the win. Diplomatic Immunity vs Undeadwood Swedgins - A win or a draw sees Strazos in the playoffs. He's likely to put that beyond doubt with 3 easy points from this game. - Correct, 1-0 to the Norse Dandies vs Strongman - Krummi is through no matter the result of this match. Expect a very cautious game to keep players as uninjured as possible for the playoffs. Slow burning win for the Orcs. - Wrong 1-1 Playoff Analysis: Battletech: - A very close division. Four teams are mathematically in with a shot still. Alive Not Dead are the only team with a confirmed place and the second is open. Negative Capability can put it out of reach of the other two with a win over the Hippies, if they draw that match then Ingmar can snatch the second spot with a victory over Lamaros and Lamaros can take the other spot by beating Ingmar if Negative Capability lose. Game to watch: Lamaros vs Ingmar. Cthulhu: - Three way sprint for the playoffs. Andy Davo needs a draw to confirm his spot as do I. If I lose to Sky then Comstar just needs a draw to go through. Otherwise the winner of the AndyDavo/Comstar match gets the second spot. Game to watch: AndyDavo vs Comstar. Stormbringer: - Theoretically five teams are still in contention. Morsel and Silver Horde have 12 points each, Scarlet and Grey and HHBl are on 11 a piece with SnooSnoo right on their tails at 10. SnooSnoo meet S&G, Morsel meets Silver Horde and Huhnqua Huhnqua Burninluv have what should be a soft game vs the Nifty Helmets. The winner of the Morsel vs Silver Horde match has a playoff spot guaranteed, if the match is a draw then both teams could be out depending on how the other matches go. SnooSnoo will go through only if they beat Scarlet and Grey, HHBl lose or draw with the Nifty Helmets and if the Morsel vs Silver Horde game doesn't end in a draw. Technically they can still go through if those teams draw but they'd need to beat S&G by more than 3 TDs to break the tie with Silver Horde. Scarlet and Grey are through if they win and HHBl lose or if both teams win without the Lizards scoring two more TDs than the Orcs do. Huhnqua Huhnqua Burninluv are through if they win and Scarlet and Grey either lose or draw with SnooSnoo or if they win and the Morsel/Silver Horde game ends in a draw. Phew! Games to watch: SnooSnoo vs Silver and Grey, Morsel vs Silver Horde Twilight 2000: - The only division so far that has the playoff spots locked in already. Both Strazos and Krummi will be looking to protect their teams from damage as much as possible and I expect that Celer and Bann will try not to oblige. Edit: Falc can still win if he beats SirT (likely) and if Strazos loses to Celer (not likely). Game to watch: Avaia vs JRuvaldt Edit: My predictions are back to being terrible. 3/11 so far. Teams that are definitely through: Battletech Alive Not Dead Rape of Skabine Cthulhu Wishmaster's Wildcards Stormbringer Huhnqua Huhnqua Burninluv Twilight 2000 Diplomatic Immunity Strongman Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: Falconeer on February 20, 2011, 07:11:26 AM Twilight 2000: - The only division so far that has the playoff spots locked in already. Both Strazos and Krummi will be looking to protect their teams from damage as much as possible and I expect that Celer and Bann will try not to oblige. Game to watch: Avaia vs JRuvaldt It's not mathematically over. Strazos has to win or tie his match vs. Celer. Should he lose, he would (probably) be out. Twilight 2000 Bell Jar vs Harbingers of Homeopathy - Falc will have little problem taking away three points from Sir T's Nurgle team. Sadly, even if Strazos loses, the tiebreak will go against Falc and he'll miss the playoffs. Again, wrong. Should he lose, the tie breaker would be in my favour, no matter the score (assuming I can win with Sir T). He needs 1 point to advance. With zero, I should get ahead of him. Title: Re: Regular Season Predictions Post by: eldaec on February 25, 2011, 12:07:39 AM Adding a little more analysis for stormbringer, the match that interests me most is SnooSnoo v S&G, this is not the mirror match it appears. S&G play a very typical orc game, development is concentrated on their black orcs and blitzers, Hoax generally looks to concentrate his str4 where he can break the line quickly and bash straight through. Brocktoon's orcs on the other hand have almost no levels on their forwards (and are missing a black orc and troll for this match), they play a much wider game, using their well developed thrower to distribute the ball quickly as soon as an opening emerges - in short they play like bunch of elfs in drag. Result will likely depend on whether S&G can corrall SnooSnoo into a traditional orc brawl, or if SnooSnoo can exploit any space S&G leave in trying force the pileup.
Nifty v HHB is mostly interesting because both teams are now starting develop out of new team status. Unfortunately for Gruntle, HHB are simply much further along the path, but I don't really think Nifties' results give a fair reflection of their standard of play and now they are back to full strength I'm not expecting more than a 2-1 victory for HHB. |
