Title: Jane Jensen's Gray Matter
Post by: Lucas on January 12, 2011, 07:59:31 AM
At long last, it gets a North America (and presumably, rest of the world) release date, February 2011 ($29.99). There is a demo too:

Note that it has already been released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in November 2010. I think you can actually purchase it online, but voiceovers will be in german and only the subtitles are in english. There will be a collector's edition. Dunno about Steam.

From what I've seen on the official forums and read in some reviews, it's generally positive, even though, given the name behind it, the audience definitely expected a lot more. Strongest points seem to be the story and the atmosphere in general. Gameplay and puzzles seems like "meh".

Personally, I really can't wait: Gabriel Knight 3, despite its awful control system, is my favourite adventure game of all time but most of all I just love the way Jensen tell her stories and the atmosphere she creates. Soundtrack is done by her husband, just like in the GK games...And infact, by listening to the (great, I may add) tune on the official website, you really can recognize the same fingerprint.

A couple reviews (may contain spoilers):

Retail version available today across Europe (worldwide even?); you can also purchase via digital download (don't think it's restricted to UK residents only):

Neat. I've always liked the Jensen games. I have to admit I've always considered The Beast Within as one of the best uses of FMVn in any game.
