Title: Airing of Goodwill 2010: the Not Dead Yet Edition
Post by: Samwise on December 23, 2010, 12:28:39 AM
Quote from: Rex Stout
There are times when love takes over. There are times when all the little demons disappear down their ratholes, and ugliness itself takes on the shape of beauty; when the darkest corner is touched by light; when the coldest heart feels the glow of warmth; when the trumpet call of good will and good cheer drowns out all the Babel of mean little noises. This is such a time. Merry Christmas! Merry merry merry!

For this dark corner of the interwebs where, even on the shittiest of days, I can poke through threads and find at least one post that will put a smile on my face.

For all the posters here and all their contributions that make that possible, be it the snarky one-liner, the spot-on wall-of-text tirade, or the well-placed image macro.

For the people here, scattered across the world, whom I've spent enough time arguing and bantering and drinking with to call friends.

Merry Christmas, jerks.  I wouldn't change a one of ya.

For everyone here on F13 that tries to make this corner of the internet a little bit more informed, thank you and happy holidays.

Thanks to all the Mods who do the thankless jobs behind the scenes.

Thanks to Abagadro for all the legal beagle info/jokes and for being a die-hard Utes fan.

Thanks to Snakecharmer for joining in with me on the SEC love.

Thanks to Haemish for shitting on everyone in the NFL who deserves it.

Thanks to ghost for keeping the college football discussions moving in the right direction.

Thanks to Nerf for one of the most ridiculous threads of 2010 and for the pictures of that crazy dog.

Thanks to all the Florida State players for beating the shit out of Florida when Georgia apparently couldn't in a rivalry game.

Thanks to santa's two little helpers that made my holiday season a good gaming season. You know who you are.

Thanks to the admins of f13 for another great year. Sam summed it up beautifully.

That's better.

Also, thanks to everyone at f13!  You guys are great, I don't care what anyone says about you.

Thanks to Nerf for making me laugh.

Thanks to the Dwarf Fortress guy, because even though I can't hack your game, your neck-beardy dedication to it is inspiring.

Thanks to the F13 people who I can count on to walk my incompetent self through picking out parts and assembling a computer.

But mostly -- thanks for being a place I can get honest, if occasionally deeply sarcastic and somewhat skewed by way too many decades of gaming, reviews of games and thoughts on gaming as a whole. You've helpled me pick out a few really fun games I wouldn't have tried otherwise, and helped me avoid a few that I would have loathed. Thanks for being my guinea pigs.

Thanks to the admins for not having a minimum posts per week/month/year requirement on the forum - I would have failed horribly.

Thanks to everyone for making this place a bearable last refuge on the Interweb for debaters of light politics, jaded MMO gamers (oh, alright - since it's Christmas - console gamers too) and wary/weary game developers of assorted rank and profession, alike.

Merry Christmas to each and every one of you!

I should really thank our crazy landlord for somehow making me seem a little less crazy.

Thanks to schild for putting up with our shit for yet another year.

And thanks to Endie for making me feel better about paying for 4 eve accounts I don't play.

Thanks to Schild for letting me stick around even after I let my Paypal subscription fail due to them being assholes that limited my account and made me call them. During which time I've been getting nothing for nothing (though I do plan to fix that soon)

Also thanks to the mods for continuing to fight the good fight of not burning the politics forum to the ground and salting the earth.

Finally thanks to Nerf for owning his dog. I love the thread and everything else but all I really check it for is updates on whether the mould has finally gotten to your dog and he's started declaring himself a modern God á la Supergod.

Thanks to the F13 College Football Regulars: Paelos, Ab, ghost, Chimpy, 0110101, Nebu.  Always good talking pigskin with you guys.  If you're ever this way, I'll buy you a beer or 10.

Thanks to everyone that answers my tech questions that I could probably get solved with googlefu, but I like hearing it for myself from people I trust.

Thanks to Serious Business for a good chuckle almost daily.

Merry Christmas, all.  Hope your holidays are filled with cheer, lots of good food and drink, and lots of love of friends and family.  God Bless.

Thanks to a community that has entertained and informed me for years.

Thanks to Falconeer and the other F13 Blood Bowlers who helped me to finally join in the fun instead of looking on from the sidelines.

Thanks to Nerf's dog Einstein who inspires peels of laughter with every photo.

And thanks to all of the administrators who keep this place so unbelievably functional.

Thanks for getting a job and being able to enjoy this holiday season.

Thanks to all of you for letting me lurk and occasionally interject comments here and there without getting crap for being a lurker.

Thanks to schild and staff for making this an enjoyable place to waste time lurking at.

Merry Christmas to all!

This is the only internet "community" I've ever been attached to for more than a few days.  Usually, that's because that's how long it takes for me to get banned.  But also, there's nothing else quite like our happy little cesspool on the internet.  Good tidings my niggas.

I forgot the most important one.

Thanks to my College Algebra professor, who gave me a completely bullshit grade because he knew that life fucked me in the ass this semester and I couldn't remember a goddamn thing due to it.  I failed miserably and he gave me a mercy D+ to not fuck up my entire college schedule for the next year and a half.  Seriously, thanks dude.

Thanks to everyone here who continues to make f13 what it is.

Thanks for the good will everyone. And thanks for sticking around despite my total lack of being around. Obviously, I'm not allowed to write about games any more due to my position at Zynga and really, I haven't even been playing much either.

I probably won't be around much tomorrow, so Merry Christmas to all you goyim also.

Thanks to the whole lot of you for proving that people from such a vast array of background, profession, belief, political inclination and geographical location can all put up with one another.

I do enjoy the company (even if some of you piss me off by making me now worry about which stupid seasonal greeting I'm supposed to close this with, which will insult the least of you)

Enjoy what ever you enjoy tomorrow.

Thanks mods and posters for another informative, funny, profane, insulting and entertaining year at f13.
To all of you who had a great 2010, hope you have an even better 2011.
To all of you like me who had a batshit-crazy bad year, here's to a better 2011.

Merry Kwanahanukahxmas everyone!

Thanks for being a place I can vent and unwind.  It's been a rough year, and y'all have helped make it a little easier to get through.

Merry Holiday or Not of Your Choice.

Thanks for making the effort in keeping f13 a relatively decent place on the internet.  It's amazing we're all not killing each other with how bland this year has been for gaming.  Thanks for putting up with my occasional policing.

And I'm happy that it looks like my son may be getting over his milk allergy.  Yay.

Enjoy your holidays and be good to each other.  See you in a few days. Off to the land where they still confuse hard disk space and RAM.

Thanks to schild for putting up with every one of us miserable cocksuckers, muffdivers and assorted fucknuts.

Thanks to all the weeaboos for turning me on to Persona 3 this year. Yeah, I'm late.

Thanks to the guy that sold me a broke ass Xbox360 but was kind enough to exchange for a nonbroke one.

Thanks to the entire Politics forum for informing, annoying, infuriating and downright pissing me off while still managing to make me want to come back and read what else has been said.

Thanks Steam for your holiday sales that have engorged my gaming boner this merry holiday season.

Thanks everyone who participates in the NFL, MLB and soccer discussions.

Thanks Drew Brees for carrying my fantasy football team into the final.

Thanks to my wife, my family and her family for keeping it all together this hardass year - 2011 can't come soon enough (but not too soon - I don't want to go back to work yet).

Thanks to everyone who bought the books I've so whored out so hard this year.

Merry Christmas, F13, you flock of crotchpheasants. Life wouldn't be nearly so interesting without you.

Thanks to all of you douchebags for being proper nice in the grievance thread and wishing me and the missus well.

Thanks to you all for holding my interest longer than any other online community ever has. You're all wonderful in your own little ways. Even those of you that I think are fucking idiots.

Thanks to the big honking blizzard in NYC that left me stuck in LA for an extra couple of days. I needed the vacation.
