Title: Pocket Legends

Quote
Spacetime Studios was formed by developers who worked on games like Star Wars Galaxies and Wing Commander, and their first game was to be Blackstar, a Sci-Fi MMO. The engine they developed was originally PC based. First, they created seven iPhone games under a different studio name, Clockrocket Games, to test and proof their knowledge of the platform, then they went on to create an MMO for the iPhone, using the MMO engine they developed.

Rather impressed they have this single title running on 4 platforms using the same servers. (http://www.gameonmac.com/game/1151/features/163/Pocket-Legends-Four-Platforms,-One-Server.html)

I've been thankful there weren't any MMOs for the iPhone worth playing. I hope this sucks for my own good.

Played this on my iPad — haven't gotten very far (1st couple of levels) so I can't offer a comprehensive review, but thus far, it's not a bad effort at all for the mobile platform.

It's free to play but has implemented the Facebook/Browser game model where you plunk down real coin for powerups and extra goodies.

I played this probably 3 or 4 months ago. It just didnt run very well on a iPhone 3g. Also, I suck with the virtual thumbstick.

The character sheet with the stats reminds me very much of Dungeons and Dragons games I played 20 years ago like Eye of the Beholder.

My current commute is 40 minutes sitting on a bus. I am very tempted to buy a device to play this on so that it becomes 40 minutes of killing dragons instead. I'm tempted, very tempted.

I tried this for a bit on the iPhone 4. It's pretty fun for a little hack-n-slash, mobile MMOG.

(necro)

Messing with this on Android. It's got an iPad specific version (plus iPhone of course). Well-reviewed all round. Making its money from in-game micro-transactions.

I see from the message boards that at least two of the most vocal devs are ex-SOE from the pre-NGE days of SWG, Gary Gattis (JustG) and Cinco Barnes.

Edit: re virtual thumbstick mentioned above - that's optional, you can change it to just "touch where you want to go/what you want to interact with".
