Post by: Mrbloodworth on September 17, 2010, 07:11:58 AM
Quote
Avast mateys! Gather round ‘n ye shall hear the tale of the shipwrecked Mariner, and a tale of woe and trouble it be!  Search the banks of the Brandywine for the lost crates and barrels from a doomed supply ship.

Ye’ll be rewarded for yer efforts with piratey gear from the thankful crew. Ye may even run across a few treasure chests the shifty fellows failed to mention! This special event only happens once a year in September, so don’t ye miss yer chance! Arrrgggggh!

To sum up, kinda underwhelming.

Yeah, but the gear is great for your wardrobe.

Apparently blue Captain's stuff also appears in lockers. But looks the same as the other hats :(

Got this last year.  Now in wardrobe instead of on mule.

The guy in local with the captain hat said the box he found it in was labeled a chest.  Assuming he wasn't full of it, that means that yellows and purples are in lockers, blues are in chests.  Keep an eye out for those if you want to spend ten hours running up and down a river to get a blue hat that looks identical to the grey variety.

The blues and purple were added a LONG time ago when some people complained about them not having stats for higher level players, this may have even been from BEFORE the cosmetics system. Anyway, its kind of neat for some programmers evening addition for a holiday that does not even exist and many could care less about. "International talk like a pirate day" is what this is all about.

Just get your pirate hats and YARRRR it up!

Don't know about the rewards but yes, this was added before the cosmetics system. I know because after not logging in since a few months after launch, I logged in and found all the quest items still in my inventory so it must have been one of the last lot of quests I was trying to do.
