I thought it was an excellent film that isn't for everyone. It really showed the tension, loneliness, and toll a loveless, paranoid, solitary existence can have.  The parallels between Jack and Clara were good. I recommend this movie even though it's getting mixed ratings from critics.

Something that bothered me though was how Clara seemed typical "taking advantage of a wealthy, direct jerk to support her for the rest of her days." Like her motivation was less love and more "I've found a man I can live off of for the rest of my days." Compared to Clooney's "I've found a woman who shows me affection that I can trust."

Maybe it's easier for him to understand a woman who has a tangible motive.

The trailer does a terrible job of explaining what the movie is about.

Yeah. It was also #1 at 13 million so it appears this is a dead season for movies right now.

Michael Clayton and Up In the Air were the same way.

I thought the movie was uninspiring and cliched.  Aging hitman, wants to get out but keeps getting pulled back in, hooker with a heart of gold, etc etc.


Also, I went to see it with my parents...  nothing like sitting next to your 60 year old mother when they throw in a fair amount of nudity, have a prostitute love interest, and a fairly long sex scene.

I think the reason for that is because the movie is in no way an action movie or a typical spy flick in any sense, but they wouldn't be able to draw people in on its actual merits.  It's more of a drama, and it is extremely subdued and...quiet.  Does George even have 2 minutes of dialogue in the whole movie?

Saw it in a packed theater.  I guess I liked it.  Kinda.  Lorekeeps descriptions were pretty accurate.  Don't go into this expecting an action film.  It is very much about Clooney's struggle to figure out...himself.  With as few words as possible.  And several nice bush/tit shots of Clara, who should probably go on to win this year's Academy Award for Nudity.
