Title: An idea Post by: Calantus on January 18, 2005, 01:10:28 AM Schild shouldn't moderate the WoW boards. And for his own health he shouldn't read them either. :P
IBTL Title: An idea Post by: Signe on January 18, 2005, 06:27:02 AM I don't think schild cares for MMORPGs much and when he does play one, he doesn't last long. I'm pretty fickle about them, myself, but I really do love playing and WANT to enjoy myself. I just wish the games would cooperate. I don't notice him over moderating, unless you consider his sarcasm to be moderation, but I absolutely don't think he should head up anymore guilds. He's too temporary. I would, however, miss his snide remarks if he were to give up all together. I do love a good snide remark. He only seems to lock useless threads, anyway.
I very much enjoy talking about him as if he's not here, though. It's naughty and rather fun. Let's do Shockeye next. Oh, and I think Calantus should be punished for starting this thread. Title: An idea Post by: schild on January 18, 2005, 08:01:56 AM Hey now, I love MMORPGs and want to enjoy them as well. It is in no way my fault that they are all repetitive pieces of shit without an original bone in their body. The future is in online gaming. Just not these games. Damnable ivory tower products.
I'm not a harsh moderator. Title: An idea Post by: Rasix on January 18, 2005, 09:18:06 AM I'm of two minds on this. First of all, I don't think we should discourage anyone from participating in any discussions. Everyone, except a few token idgits, probably has something worthwhile to contribute on any given topic. Saying, "DV shouldn't post in politics" may negate the 1 in a 100 posts of his that actually is worth reading. Pre-banning Boog just nullifies him even having the possibility of saying something that isn't completely negative.
However, taking snide pot shots at games you don't play, obvious trolling, the "I'm better than you because I don't play this crap" mind set, and neener-neener-neener mentality really should stay within the confines of one's own mind. They don't advance discussion at all. If you're Smedley's catcher and like it, you probably shouldn't troll WoW threads. If you think all EQ2 players are deluded masochists, you probably shouldn't take cheap shots at them in their own forum. All of these games have their bad points, all of these games are easy targets. This is evident ALL OF THE TIME. People shouldn't refrain from commenting on the true fuckups these game perpetrate, however, pissing in someone's Cheerios just because you're in the kitchen should be highly frowned upon. I would love to see Schild (or any of us, really) let loose with admin powers over there. The carnage would be delicious. Title: An idea Post by: jpark on January 18, 2005, 10:51:46 AM When I had.... to much time on my hands I spent much time on the Blizzard boards arguing that the dev team was talented - but utterly impaired in meeting deadlines of any kind.
(send resume to a firm - pick on Blizzard - repeat) I kept arguing that WoW (this was in Jan 2004) would not hit the stores until 2005. I was wrong - but not that far off - but such posts utterly inflamed the community there. Eventually I got banned - go figure :P Title: An idea Post by: WindupAtheist on January 18, 2005, 11:17:38 AM Quote from: Rasix If you think all EQ2 players are deluded masochists, you probably shouldn't take cheap shots at them in their own forum.
