Title: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: schild on January 19, 2010, 04:26:05 PM Forgot I already paid for the collector's edition. Other people can make your four-packs here. Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: patience on January 19, 2010, 04:51:42 PM I'm down for being part of a 4 pack deal. I'm open to suggestions but I believe Paypal is acceptable enough.

Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: rattran on January 24, 2010, 11:10:11 AM Does the new Bioshock have horrible restrictive copy protection ? Sort of, depends what you consider horrible. Securom (even on steam) and you need to be logged into GFWL to save your game. GFWL has a 15 activation limit, but if you exceed the 15 activations, you can get a 1 time reset. And there doesn't seem to be a revoke tool available. So from my view, yes. I tend to get single player games to play when I don't have interweb. Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: Reg on January 24, 2010, 11:23:21 AM Heh the copy protection on the original Bioshock annoyed me enough that I never bothered getting the game. I guess I'll be passing on the sequel as well.
Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: Samwise on January 24, 2010, 11:58:43 AM Supposedly the activation limit and Securom crap is not on the Steam version. (source (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9280598&postcount=11)) It was originally, but a year or so after release they ditched the activation crap completely. The CD retail version still has Securom to make sure you have the disc in, but the Steam version doesn't have any need of that so it's gone.
Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: rattran on January 24, 2010, 12:02:34 PM So, you're saying buy Bioshock 2 in a year when securom is gone and it's on sale for $5? Sounds like a solid plan. I think I'll do it!

Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: Teleku on January 24, 2010, 10:41:54 PM Yep, I'm joining the $5 steam sale crowd as well. Just don't care enough about it (plus fuck any sort of extra copy protection on top of steam).

Me.Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: Lakov_Sanite on January 25, 2010, 08:09:08 AM After I killed ryan, the rest of the game just seemed boring so I didn't finish. What really annoyed me was that no one seemed all that mutated so I was just killing humans over and over, no special mobs(besides the daddies) and it felt repetitive. This would have been better if there was a bit more story going on but the actual story you get in the game is sparse. it really could have been done with some different mutations or maybe a storyline or two that didn't involve the main plotline.

Me.Well, it wasn't great, that's for sure. I did beat it, however, so it was entertaining enough to finish. It was all just kind of a pretty mess. With all of the stuff coming out this quarter, it's not going to be difficult to let this one slide and hopefully pick it up on the cheap or when there's some sort of lul. If their goal was to create a successor to System Shock 2, they failed miserably. If their goal was a make an actiony shooter, with some bits inspired by System Shock 2, then they did OK. I'm taken aback anytime someone mentions this game as "OMG BEST GAME EVAR". It's usually from people who consider Halo/Madden/WoW to be gaming fine art. Title: Re: Bioshock 2 - Steam 4-Pack Thread Post by: HaemishM on January 25, 2010, 09:52:20 AM I thought Bioshock was a very good game - not great, but good. It was just long enough to not overstay its welcome without feeling too short. Yes, there could have been more variety in mobs to kill or things to do, but the style and environments made up for the lack of variety. But I'll definitely be waiting for the Steam sale on this because I am a cheap bastard.

When I think about whether it was boring or not, I don't really think "yea, it was" but on the same token I probably only got 1/5 or 1/4 through it (no idea, actually) then put it down and haven't really remembered to go back and finish it. It certainly wasn't one of those FPS games that drives you to finish it. |
