Title: Taking of Pelham 1,2,3 Post by: stray on January 05, 2010, 07:09:59 AM Passable suspense/action.. Holds the distinction of having the first Travolta villain that didn't completely suck balls (although at times that's questionable too).

Title: Re: Taking of Pelham 1,2,3 Post by: Brogarn on January 05, 2010, 08:29:42 AM Heh. We just watched this one last week.
Horribly directed. It was like the director was trying out multiple styles of directing just to see how they looked on film. We went from the suspense of the conversation between Travolta and Denzel to the ridiculous action sequences of the cop cars racing to get the cash to the subway. They even called themselves out on the silliness with Gandolfini saying "Why didn't they just use a helicopter?" I literally facepalmed. Travolta played a caricature of a real person, but I guess we've come to expect that of him. Denzel played himself as usual. And John Torturro? Why? He should stick to character acting and stay the fuck away from Michael Bay. I see wasted potential every time I see him on screen lately, and that includes this movie. Very uneven, sometimes boring, and sometimes downright stupid. I say skip it, personally. It's not a real movie, but a collection of scenes with a threadbare plot and really no point to Travolta's character's actions.
