Title: Doomhammer people.
Post by: Sheepherder on December 28, 2009, 11:08:38 PM
So, I'm compelled to roll a new alt every time I finish dinging the old ones, and I figure Doomhammer seemed as likely a candidate as any.  I've now got a DK there, and I may actually play it, or I may make a hunter and do that.  My maximum pace is usually determined by the accumulation of rested experience.  Is anyone currently levelling alts there, or steamrolling through old dungeons between random heroic pops?

Most people are waiting on Cataclysm to level alts again I think. For now its BadgeMania pretty much.

This is where you say: "...except Lantyssa." :awesome_for_real:

I figured most people would be waiting for Cataclysm.  However, I have absolutely no desire to play a goblin or worgen.

Well, *I'm* waiting for my dwarf shaman.

I'm waiting for the new class/stat mechanics myself really.

Being able to fly in the old world should be pretty awesome too.

If i'm still around/come back for Cataclysm, that is what I'm going for myself.

I yearn for goblins. Yeeeeeeeeeeaarn. It will break Slap in the Face's heart, but goblins are My People.

Nah, they are going to make Holy paladins awesome and you'll end up playing Trit beside Thorgrim or something.  :oh_i_see:

Sorry.  I actually hit 80 after nine months.  I've even done a few instances thanks to enough guild members being around with the patch.

I'm also bolting for Goblins and Worgen the second I can...

All Worgen will be named Fippy.  It's the law.

I was actually /who'ing Thorgrim on my DK wondering if I could con a guild invite out of him, then I asked if I was seriously going to play my DK.  Then I didn't, because I didn't know that I wanted to play the DK.  Fuck me and my indecisiveness. :awesome_for_real:

Better off /who'ing Slap as a guild, we all have 45 jillion alts.

I actually caught him doing a heroic in the wee hours of the morning.  I didn't ask though, because, you know, indecisive.

It's OK if you don't play very often, you dork. Although I guess if you're not sure you'd play your DK EVER AGAIN, it's a little different.

When was the last time we purged all the in-actives? I bet we've filled up again.

Post by: Sjofn on December 30, 2009, 07:32:30 AM
I think the last purge was after Drachmir got hacked the first time? I dunno.

EDIT: Also they are so not going to make holy paladins awesome and you know it. I HAVE thought about re-maining Tritana in the expansion though, only as protection.

Or was it the second time?

People need to stop getting their keys logged  :|

I think it was the first time, mostly because the second time happened so quick after the first time.  :why_so_serious:

They'll give Holy Paladins real HoTs and AE heals and shit, you'll see! Or they'll give them http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23862 as a talent! You would totally play her Holy again for that

I always feel bad about being suspicious of everyone I don't recognize instantly on the guild line these days. We just have so many alts I can't keep track of everyone anymore. So it's always like "ok, vault is still all here it looks like!"

They will do nothing of the sort and you know it! If it isn't gimmicky bullshit, it isn't for the paladin holy tree! So maybe the redemption of the fallen thing would make it in after all. :o

Redemption of the Fallen is one of my favorite things ever pretty much. I remember using it on Holy Sera and ending up with like 8 of those ghost helpers. Made the demonchains boss a lot easier.

It still makes me laugh that Holy Sera had better gear then Holy Trit due to sheer osmosis.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one with a problem with alts.  I still continue to level them, even though I know the expansion is coming...  I just want all 9 to be 80!  And current content raid geared...

Sometimes the only way to know if you are going to keep playing an alt is to play and see what happens.

I'm the opposite.  I have two 80s and a 75 I intend to get to 80 (if my leveling partner would ever hurry up and catch up to me!) but other than that, I'm not going to touch my other alts until after Cataclysm so I can do the new quests instead of the same old ones I've already done a whole bunch of times already.

Yeah, I do understand wanting new content and all, but it sure can be relaxing to just no-brainer my way through older quests when I am not having to raid or do anything else that requires brainpower.

Blizzard doesn't seem to want to completely scour the TBC levels from the game, so my DK won't be seeing the new zones anyways.

I'm waiting to be the only jackass in the old world flying on a slow assed mount while thorgrim bitches about it during world group quests.

Maybe you'll get super flying by the time you level your 12th capped character.

TBC seems to go by pretty fast on my hunter alt last time i popped on to him.  Full rested exp and 2 pieces of +ExP BoA Gear saw me at around level 63 before i even got out of Hellfire Peninsula and by time i finished the first half of zangar marsh i was level 66 (includes a couple of dungeon runs).  Hell, I will be off to Northrend soon, and i doubt i will have done more then 20 quests outisde of Hellfire / Zangar.  Might just move to nagrand and quest the last 2 levels there because of the better return from the quests / mob levels.

Yeah, Outland goes really fast, but ... I'm still hoping part of the Cataclysm makes it so I don't feel I should go there immediately at 58. I am totally over that random-ass detour. :P

But, the portal!

.. What should happen is a noble soul takes frostmourne and control of the scourge, and parks them in front of the dark portal permanently.

That's actually a really good idea.

Which is why it will never happen.

Can you all point me for some good ideas on leveling my paladin?  He is only 24, holy build so far, but I find that I end up playing a healer with this and not much tanking, and it is a bear to kill things.  My hunter is a beast, will still be my main (and pretty fun to level and do the quest and read the lore with), but a goblin rogue sounds awesome!

Protection or ret are the leveling specs, I can't remember which is the current winner. Part of the problem with paladins is they're boring as shit in combat until they're finally high enough to get an active thing to do besides judge.

Title: Re: Doomhammer people.
Post by: Sheepherder on December 30, 2009, 06:07:35 PM
Ret will likely be the winner for fast level grinding unless you do random instances.

Prot takes over in BC/WotLK, when there are a lot of Elite quests. As ret, these are difficult at best; as prot, faceroll.

Title: Re: Doomhammer people.
Post by: Fordel on December 30, 2009, 06:27:50 PM
I would go Ret for leveling.

My brother just hit 65 today on his paladin, with under 5 days /played.  He's done nothing but random instances since he was able (15 I think?) and he hasn't left orgrimmar since.  He levelled exclusively as prot, and didn't do any quests after he made 15 at all, just re-queued constantly, and never had any wait whatsoever.  The early 50's were rough, having to run DM and BRD constantly, but now in outlands, he's doing a level or two per day.  He just saved up the 1000g for his dual-spec, and that's with no help at all from me aside from giving him free gems for socket gear.

It really is that easy, and the worst part of it all, at least from my perspective, is that he doesn't have one single person on his friends list, it's all been random cross server pug's, but he's enjoying it.

Real men spec ret. No I don't have any good reason. Ret is just awesome. I bought my dual spec so I could spec ret twice.

Anyone got an enchanter on Doomhammer willing to shard a shitpile of TBC greens?

Title: Re: Doomhammer people.

My DK is now 68, apparently I will play it after all.  Name is Draugen.

On a completely unrelated note: someone needs to tell Kiyota that there cannot always be a random retarded DK named after a mythological Scandinavian undead creature strolling by to death grip shit off of her when she's one mob auto-attack away from a corpse run. :awesome_for_real:

By the way, I still need an enchanter, bad.  The greens have taken over my bank, they have hostages and are demanding a flight to Cuba.

I can DE the TBC items, but I hardly ever log the character in (her name is Anodea, level 50 warlock, woo) so either send me a PM here or a mail to Sofi to let me know I should go do it. :P

Don't be surprised if your mailbox explodes.  I rolled another character for bank space to hold my loot. :awesome_for_real:

I have a Helm of the Burning Soul (http://db.mmo-champion.com/i/37746/helm-of-the-burning-soul/) I'm willing to give away.

I also have a crafted green tank set and am working on a Frost dual spec.  If anyone around level 70 wants to piggyback off of short queue times hit up Draugen.
