Title: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: schild on November 19, 2009, 04:59:15 PM King's Bounty was amazing. I thought this was an expansion. Looks like it is and isn't. I have no clue what's going on. It's $35.99. PURCHASING.
Edit: Oh balls, they're calling it a sequel. I thought it was an expansion. :( Never finished King's Bounty :( Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: LK on November 19, 2009, 05:32:31 PM That princess doesn't look all that armored at all.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: schild on November 19, 2009, 05:33:40 PM Magic armor, obviously. Gawd.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Ingmar on November 20, 2009, 11:44:17 AM KB was kind of a mess, I thought. It did make me want to replay HOMM3 again though.

Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: caladein on November 20, 2009, 12:11:19 PM Too... many... games.
I never played KB but I heard lots of good things about it, do I need to play the first to get this one? Edit: By "get" I mean story or mechanics-wise. Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Ard on November 20, 2009, 12:15:09 PM No, it's a stand alone.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Trippy on November 20, 2009, 01:43:04 PM Too... many... games. She's an NPC in the first one but I doubt you'll miss much story-wise as this game is set in a different world.I never played KB but I heard lots of good things about it, do I need to play the first to get this one? Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: jakonovski on January 12, 2010, 01:37:39 PM The whole thing is hella cheap on Steam. Should I get it?
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Sky on January 12, 2010, 01:41:12 PM $5 is a magic price.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: jakonovski on January 12, 2010, 01:49:52 PM I got the Gold Edition for 11.25e. Backlog +2

Try the demo.Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Mosesandstick on January 12, 2010, 01:52:24 PM Is there any difference between the original and Armored Princess? I'm already bored of Armored Princess and I doubt I'll play it again once I've finished it.

Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Trippy on January 12, 2010, 02:16:15 PM If you like Heroes of Might and Magic-style turned-based combat get it.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Sky on January 13, 2010, 07:21:33 AM That's why I got it, haven't fired either up yet, though. The art style is on the border of what I can deal with. I did grab a couple Disciples 2 games, because I love the art style. Now it's a toss-up which to play after I finish off HoMaMV (got the expansions from the steam sale).
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Paelos on January 16, 2010, 09:54:17 PM Oh look, I get DirectX errors. Fun.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Hawkbit on January 17, 2010, 07:23:12 AM Yeah, I've been fighting them with the original game since I bought it last week. Crashes at anywhere from 1 to 15 minutes, but it's a hard crash to desktop. Tried running in XP compat mode, all kinds of display tweaks... nothing.
Forums seem to indicate rolling back drivers to May of 2009 seem to work. :uhrr: Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Paelos on January 17, 2010, 11:16:07 AM Yeah, I've been fighting them with the original game since I bought it last week. If you can't get your game to even function on my computer that was built in December 09, you've massively failed as a developer. I'll eat the $11, and never buy anything they ever make again. Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Teleku on January 17, 2010, 01:43:01 PM On the flip side, I've never had one single crash from either of these games. They're both quite good.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Threash on January 18, 2010, 06:20:06 PM Is this Kings Bounty the same kings bounty that was on the Sega Genesis way back when?
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Tebonas on January 18, 2010, 11:50:56 PM I am not really sure you can blame a company for incompatibility with a driver that comes out after the game was released. Sounds more like ATI or Nvidia screwed up if it worked with an older driver.
This is not the same Kings Bounty that was on the Sega Genesis, but its successor. Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Slyfeind on January 19, 2010, 10:45:45 AM HoMaM seemed cluttered and dirty to me, after 3. This looks like the kind of thing I wished HoMaM was, and I liked the Genesis version back in the day.
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Paelos on February 21, 2010, 04:29:41 PM I tried setting this up again with the new DirectX February update and reloading all the NVIDIA drivers. It still crashed on higher settings, but when I dropped the resolution one step down and got rid of anti-aliasing, it runs without breaking now. I get slowdowns on looting gold and banners though for some reason.
I have been having fun with the game, although it is pretty much like Heroes. However, it doesn't include some of the ridiculous boring flaws in that system (ie - turns). Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: NiX on February 22, 2010, 07:58:27 AM How does this compare to HOMM?
Title: Re: King's Bounty: Armored Princess Post by: Tebonas on February 22, 2010, 09:12:34 AM Its Homm without city management and static mob spawns instead of AI enemy kingdoms.
Basically its a roleplaying game instead of a Turn based strategy game, with the same tactical fight screen. You run around killing things for xp, grabbing gold and buying soldiers. You level up after the turn-based tactical fights, and you get quests from everybody.
