Title: Put a name to this game. Post by: FatuousTwat on October 27, 2009, 03:13:24 AM This has been driving me nuts for quite a while.
I remember playing an action RPG back in the early 2000s, but I can not think of the name. It was in 3/4 view, with an action bar at the bottom, standard stuff. What stands out in my mind is that you could buy horses, dual wield weapons and instead of having multiple different maps/zones, it all took place on one huge map. I thought it was the original Sacred for a long time, but going back and looking at screenshots of that game now, I realize that the one I'm thinking of was made earlier, and was much darker, in story and actual presentation. Like, Diablo dark visuals. Does this ring a bell with anyone? (If anyone else has a similar problem, feel free to use this thread) Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Nox? Darkstone? Divine Divinity? Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Post by: FatuousTwat on October 27, 2009, 04:23:17 AM Definitely not Dungeon Siege, and I'm pretty sure it was newer than the others (at least, as far as I can tell from the way they look)...
Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Post by: Xuri on October 27, 2009, 04:38:31 AM Gothic?
Fate? Dungeon Siege 2? :P Remember any additional details about the game? Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Post by: Rendakor on October 27, 2009, 05:19:29 AM Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind?
Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Post by: schild on October 27, 2009, 08:07:18 AM I don't think you could buy horses in a single 3/4 game listed in this thread.
Gothic and Morrowind don't fit his first gameplay detail. Edit: Just to throw another 3/4 view game in the pile that isn't it: Throne of Darkness. Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Post by: tazelbain on October 27, 2009, 08:08:47 AM Revenant? I don't remember horses, but I do remember an overhead seamless map. I wonder if I still have the disks for this game.

Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Post by: Trippy on October 27, 2009, 08:11:21 AM That really does sound like Sacred. Did it also have Diablo-style loot?

I was about to say "Sacred" too, until I read this. Not sure about the horses, but it came with a distinctively darker style than Sacred and a huge seamless world, didn't it? Title: Re: Put a name to this game. Post by: FatuousTwat on October 27, 2009, 04:35:35 PM Ok, I've found it actually was Sacred.
This (http://eng.sacred-game.com/screens.php?s=22d5ef6420c18a723c896ae35013dc48) page really threw me off. I remember the game being dark all the way through, but there are really only 4 shots that actually remind me of the game. Plus, I was almost sure there were only 3 classes. What really set it in stone for me was the font. Don't know why I didn't notice it earlier. Thanks for the help, and like I said before, if anyone needs help with finding the name to an old game, please feel free to use this thread. Edit: and sorry for wasting peoples time... I spent an hour yesterday looking around for it, and had been thinking about/looking for it for quite a while before that. Some how things just didn't click. |
