Title: Eufloria
Post by: jakonovski on October 21, 2009, 02:08:28 PM
Has anyone played it and is it any good? It's apparently some sort of an RTS with plants and classical music. The concept fascinates me, but I don't wanna spend even more money on games I won't play.

I've played the demo (http://www.dyson-game.com/read.php?page=8). It's very artsy (both sound and gfx-wise), and is overall an interesting concept. Enjoyed the demo, but the gameplay in that doesn't appear to be particularly complex/deep/broad.

Gameplay in demo:
You have these flying "seedlings" that look like spores of sorts, which you can use to either attack enemy seedlings & astroids (planets, bases, whatever) or to build a defensive tree/a tree which grows new seedlings every now and then (costs 10 seedlings to build either). Each astroid has room for 3 or 4 such trees. You can send out seedlings to explore nearby astroids, and either launch an attack with more seedlings if it's populated by an enemy, or "colonize" it if it's empty of life.

Each astroid has three stats that determine how energetic, fast or strong the seedlings you build there will become. Every time a seedling is built/born/magically appears, it gets randomly assigned one of the three stats; the most prominent stat determining which seedlings get built the most often. When sending out seedlings you can either send every seedling currently "orbiting" an astroid, send out only the strong/fast/energetic ones, or a specific number of each.

Goal in most of the demo levels: Conquer all the other astroids in the area, or a specific astroid.
