Title: Hexagon.cc
Post by: grebo on September 15, 2009, 07:41:18 AM
Isohunt is doing a new thing, group based Bittorent.  Create a group, control membership and share whatever you want... could be a good thing for the legitimacy of BT.  Read more here (http://isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=288201).

They had invites up briefly but I missed it, anyone get in?

I don't see a point. Can't you just set up a VPN with a bunch of people and share things in a far easier fashion?

Also, this won't legitimize a God. Damn. Thing.

Edit: It'll help colleges that don't allow direct connect anymore though  :awesome_for_real:

This isn't new.  Secure, group based file sharing is at least as old as unsecure, any one who wants to can file sharing.

It has problems, namely the one expressed in the first post.  If you aren't in the good group you don't get good files and you can't get into the good group BECAUSE IT'S SECURE.

I did get in, there are invites at the TorrentFreak article, it does look mostly like a standard torrent site so far...

I don't think anyone can argue that there is a better way to distribute content than BT, it would be nice if it could be used by big industries to distribute content in a controlled way... for marketing purposes or whatever...

hey, at least they're trying.
