Title: Housing: What is it good for?
Post by: HaemishM on September 01, 2009, 03:18:31 PM
So I've bought my horse, I'm almost level 41 and I have a bit over 3 gold lying around. I've been considering buying a house just for shits and giggles, but I want to know: What does the house do for me? Is it a place I can do crafting? Does it have an auctioneer interface? Is it anything more than just storage and trophy space? In short, should I spend the money on a house or not?

The house you buy is shared between all your characters.   It gives you a safe storage space to move gear between them.  All your characters also gain a once an hour teleport to your house, so it makes getting around a bit easier if you're not a hunter.

edit:  oh, also, be aware that kinship houses work the same way, and any character in a kin with a house gets yet another teleport.

Note that you cannot place bound items into housing storage, if it wasn't obvious.  Additionally, you get a discount from the vendors in your neighborhood although not enough to offset your weekly upkeep unless you buy a lot of shit.  It also has a mailbox but... you said it yourself, it's mostly for shits and giggles.  If I need to get to Michel Delving in a hurry, I can zap to my hobbit house.  I suppose you can also do some gay-ass RP in there.

That's why you get a house in a neighbourhood where you don't already have a nearby racial teleport. And yes, since you can specify who are allowed to enter your house, it's great for "RP." :pedobear:
