Title: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: stray on August 24, 2009, 02:43:18 PM Sort of goes into WTF mode towards the end, but you won't find a better, modern swordfighting flick.
And you don't need to know about the previous Zatoichi films (but you should!). This is a remake. Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: Samwise on August 24, 2009, 02:58:37 PM I like the Bollywood ending. :drill:
Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: stu on August 24, 2009, 05:04:03 PM Funny, I just picked up Tokyo Eyes, with Takeshi Kitano, from the library a couple days ago. Still haven't watched either one yet.
Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: DraconianOne on August 25, 2009, 12:40:23 AM Great film. The ending just made it all the better.
Love Beat Takeshi films too. I think Sonatine is a fantastic piece of cinema, as is Hana-Bi. He was hands down the best thing about Battle Royale, too for my money. Hard to believe that he was a stand-up comedian and that he hosted that fucked up series "Takeshi's Castle". Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: satael on August 25, 2009, 01:03:30 AM The original Zatoichi movies, along with the Babycart and Hanzo the Razor movies, are great too and have aged relatively well. As for Takeshi movies my favorite is a tie between Brother and Hana-bi.
Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: stray on August 25, 2009, 03:45:17 AM Oh, I don't just mean the bollywood ending.. It just seems like there were a lot of cuts or something too. Real choppy.
Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: schild on August 25, 2009, 07:25:28 AM I think I've seen all of his work that's been made available in any form to the non-moonspeaking people of the world, and yea, he really can't do anything wrong. It's actually sort of creepy.
Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: DraconianOne on August 28, 2009, 12:16:47 PM Including "Getting Any? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110524/)"?
Title: Re: Zatoichi (2003) Post by: schild on August 30, 2009, 04:50:18 AM Wow, I somehow missed that. I'm going to rectify that by tomorrow night, if possible.
Edit: Going to Fry's tomorrow, looks like I have to buy it. |
