Title: Wolfenstein
Post by: Azazel on August 16, 2009, 09:26:51 PM
Making a new topic for this, since I figure Wolf always had a decent following.

Zee Germans, they don't speak german. Game's pure cheese. It's quite fun.
You also have a central city hub of sorts, and can buy weapon upgrades at the black market. Finding gold bags gives money, obv, and intel unlocks the upgrades for purchase.  They're kind enough to let you know in which dungeon each upgrade can be found.
Haven't played a lot yet.

Sounds quite a few steps away from RTCW. Do the Germans speak Englisch with bad accents or something? This is one I'm interested in, I really liked Raven's SOF2 back in the day.

And what kind of DRM does it have? If you're playing on PC?

English all the way, with outrageous accents. Wouldn't know about drm, playing on the xb2.
Just got bullet time, woo-hoo.

It's just not Wolfenstein unless the Lieutenants are yelling "schweinhund".

I guarantee that you won't forget the first time you use a particle cannon, which is acquired from Nazi Space Marines. Giggles were involved.

Man, it's been so long since I'd last seen an old school fps boss battle,  the ones where you know they're coming because you've just entered a room with 10 times more ammo than you can carry  :awesome_for_real:

Also, playing on hard, the game's easy and fun as hell. Enemies do the standard stuff, like using cover and throwing grenades, but aren't crackshots like in CoD, so the dev decided to send lots of them at once. How many? Oh, from 10 to 14.

Raven needs to work on more ips.

It's been awhile since the last time I watched a Zero Punctuation review, but I've gotta say that it was pretty inspired of him to do a review almost entirely in Limerick form (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/916-Wolfenstein).

So is Wolfenstein a good game?  I like killin' nazzis!

It appears to be a good game to pick up when the price drops to about half of the release price. Like, not crap, but far from a Day (or month) 1 pickup.

I can vouch for it. It's nothing spectacular, but a weekend of decent fun if you like killing Nazis. And seriously, who doesn't or dares saying they don't.
