I thought it was terrible, like Shawn of the Dead meets bad. I'm sure there's some cult thing I'm missing, or the need to be a fan of Woody, but it just doesn't cut it for me.

Did you see an early screening?  I thought it wasn't coming out until October.  Or is it already up on the Intertubes?

Nah, just thought the trailer on YouTube was terrible. The name itself means I'd only pass over this on HBO at the earliest. But the trailer means I won't even stop when passing over it :-)

I'm no judge of such things though. I barely see more than three a year as it is.

Just saw an advanced screening of this.  This movie was hilarious and full of win, not even in the same league as Shaun of the dead.  I'd see it again.  Everyone else in the theater seemed to love it too as everyone was laughing throughout.

Go see this movie, see it twice.  Holy shit I almost cried I was laughing so hard in a few parts.

Saw this last night and it was better than I expected.  Silly, gory, very funny, great unexpected cameo in the middle, and Woody Harrelson is a hundred times better in this than he was in No Country for Old Men.
 
Stay to the end of the credits!

This is the funniest fucking movie i've seen in a very long time.  The rules were hilarious and the cameo brought the house down.

 During the advanced screening they stopped the sound and music at the credits so we thought there wasn't anything. 

Just got back from seeing it.  It was funny as hell, if a bit predictable in parts.

Did anyone else get the feeling that they really would have liked Michael Cera for the main role? its as if the part was wrote specifically for him.

I don't know about liked, but I could see him playing the part.  And I probably wouldn't have noticed a difference.  One scrawny, foppish, mousy, nerd looks pretty much the same as the other to me.

I wouldn't have liked Cera in the role. Movie was awesome.

That was great. Still hate that lead kids haircut. They've got to do something about that before he plays yet another role with that shitty jewfro.

Damn, they knew exactly who their audience was, and they went for it a thousand times over. Tons of cliches all over the place, and they embraced it all. GAH want to see again.

I thought it was pretty good, but the kid bothered me. 

Saw it last night and it was everything one could want in a zombie movie.  Sure not as straight up horrifying as some but the gore was there. overall just a really fun movie to watch.

This movie is an instant cult classic.

You know... I'm a fan of the survival horror genre. What I like best in zombie movies is when they reveal both the surprising heroism and the deep inhumanity of the living. Unless this thing goes all the way to Catch 22 levels of satire I have a feeling it doesn't have EVERYTHING I could want.

You will like this movie.

It was sadder for me, i recognized warsong gulch in the 2 seconds the screen was vaguely shown.

I wasn't sure if it was WSG, but I did catch that he was being attacked by a Mage, and a Shaman.

And, yes, I felt a great shame.

I saw this again last night, I missed the clown nose squeeking near the end last time.  Fucking brilliant.

This movie was awesome.  Laughed the entire way through it.  Everybody should see it.

I don't see many movies twice in the theatre, but I'm going to go see this again.

I'm incredibly glad the TV show idea didn't pan out, it would have sucked so bad on a network.

This is the best movie I've seen in a very long time.

Best opening credits for a zombie movie ever! The zombie stripper with the dollar bills stuffed into her g-string made me laugh. I have to see this again.

Watched it with my wife, who normally hates zombie movies, and we both thought it was great.

Today I saw a grossly overwieght guy holding an orange sign which read, "Little Caesars HOT 'N READY $5 Large Pizza". He was asleep under his cap, leaning forward on a bus stop bench, slightly in the shade. All I could think was, You're gonna be the first to go, Fatty.

I strongly disagree. Zombieland was every bit as good but for different reasons, they are simply different takes on the same genre and deserve back to back showings.

I guess it's all personal preference i just laughed more in Shawn of the Dead. This is a great movie, though.

I went into this movie with pretty high expectations based on this thread and it actually surpassed them.

I'm very glad nobody spoiled the really cool thing for me.   :drill:

I saw the movie twice and didn't stay through the credits either time... someone care to spoil it in a spoiler tag?  Loved the film, but I'm not likely to pay to see it a third time at the theaters.

If you can't find love in your heart for Caddyshack you really just can't find love at all.

Ah, that must be it.  I somehow never saw Caddyshack growing up and have only seen it once as an adult.  It hasn't buried itself into my consciousness like so many other movies of that era.

This was a great fucking movie. Just as awesome as Shaun, but in very different ways.

Saw this as well - I think I'm going to have to buy the DVD when released. Fantastic fucking movie. I kept expecting one of the main characters to get his/her face eaten off. The guest star was truly too  :awesome_for_real:  for words.

This movie is way way better than Shaun of the Dead.

Anyone else expect the sister to get offed in the last part of the movie?  It really felt like it was going that way with how they were presenting her and how she trailed off. I keep thinking the original draft/ edit did away with her and it got revised after a few pre-screenings.

I felt like they were all going to die together or live together.  I was kinda blitzed when I watched the movie though.

I only thought Tallahassee was going to die.

Same here but I think the fact that they all lived was one of the better things about the movie.  The movie had all the sense of dread that most zombie movies have, that impending doom feeling that in the end you're still fucked. At the end though, we(humans) won and it felt really good.  I wouldn't call it a happy ending persay, still stuck in zombie apocolypse but it was an ending that made you go "fuck yeah"  hard to really type out that gut feeling.

I don't think there was enough death at all in the movie really.  I was expecting at least Harrelson to die.  Hell they even at least Zombified Nick Frost in Shaun of the Dead.

Different movies are different.  I loved both.

Just got done watching this, it was great. I'd say it's the equal of SoTD, just with a different sort of humor. If you don't like this movie you're probably a horrible person whose humanity is a burnt out little husk.
