Some good looking games coming up, but after the last two year's Aug-Oct game releases, this looks positively dull.

So I'm getting all this buzz about Borderlands. Is this a full blown kind of open world RPG or tightly scripted, one session with friends type thing?

Nice to see MUA2 going the XML2 route with playable villains. I played through XML2 as the Brotherhood of Evil. Pre-order Juggy is tempting, since he was my tank in XML2...

The new Bioware is a gimme, and Borderlands does sound interesting, but I'll be holding off for a few months to see how quickly the love dies off here. ChampO is tempting, I liked CoH...but it's mmo and summer. AoC was an anomaly because it's a month for $13. Best to let the bugs get worked out of ChampO and check it out later imo. OpFlash or maybe even the new ArmA might make it onto an xmas list because my fiancee likes war shooters (just not the online players).

The new Madden makes me wish I had dough for a console, it looks pretty nifty. I'd get a PS3 but my dad has a 360 :| Luckily I have no money, so no need to make that decision!

I'm curious about how powerful the preorder and collectors edition items are on Dragon Age.  Are they game affecting or just the equivalent of stuff you will have out-leveled in 30 minutes?

The only one I am on the fence about is Persona.

I'll probably pick up the collector's edition of Dragon Age.  Seems worth it for the extra $15.  Only problem is that I'll be picking up Dragon Age on the PC, but I play Mass Effect on the 360, so I might not be able to use the Mass Effect 2 item (unless it's a code for an XBL download or something).

I thought that was possible at first, but now they're also saying that the PS3 version is getting delayed even further and will release "later in November".  Sounds like maybe there are some last minute issues and they have to divert some of the resources from the PS3 team to get the 360 and PC versions out by Nov. 3.

So many deluxe editions and pre-order bonuses. I'm tempted to say it's similar to the state of comic books in the 90s and evidence of underlying problems in the industry that are going to surface in a big way soon. (Or already have begun to surface)

I'd just wish someone would implement a campaign mode so you could play it like SWOTL. Looks a lot like SWON but a little more serious outing.

Thing is, the 'old' IL-2 had so many functions and commands that one needed a keyboard to play it. I shudder to think how its been dumed down. I wonder if Maddox (the original IL-2 creator) is involved at all in this new one.

Fear not, word is they're working on a new one for the PC. Birds of Prey will stick to consoles though.

Fuck-all until October, then my wallet cries out in agony - Alpha Protocol, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Forza 3 LE and Tekken 6.  Ouch.

The world comes to a stop when Borderlands comes out and then a battle in the thunderdome to see if I can be torn away for Dragon Age. This is going to get bloody.

Dragon Age is going to be a Xmas thing, gotta save something the family can buy.  That way I can see what platform I want to buy it on from the reviews.

I am all over Batman (fuck you, mid-September PC release) and Dragon Age.  I will probably try Champions and/or Aion, but only because they are new and I am desperate. 

MMm, Borderlands.  Champions Online too.

I'm pretty sure my 8800GT is going to run Borderlands just fine, unless you're an anti-aliasing whore, I just can't see it being a big stresser on a graphics card. Gearbox generally doesn't push the limits on games.

I'll probably have to upgrade for Dragon Age on the PC though just because Bioware is terrible at optimization.

Just wait until the first half of next year.  That'll be even worse.

Dissidia, OFP: Dragon Rising, Alpha Protocol, Uncharted 2 and Borderlands look promising enough to be put on shopping list, plus perhaps Dragon Age whenever it gets released. I'm not sure yet about Demon's Souls since I have the Asian version, but most probably I'll get the US version as well at some point (or an European version, if that will happen sooner).

Killzone 2 was not very good.

Anyone who wants to mess around with the tool set is going to get the PC version anyway.

Reading through the 1c forums for IL-2 Birds of Prey has me rethinking making this a release day purchase.  This post (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpost.php?s=65e425b533e9b3e338c185216fb7bb23&p=85138&postcount=17) in particular made by one of the 1c staff admits a couple of known inaccuracies which are no big deal but he eludes to other issues that will have to be fixed in the "future".  You would think 1c would have IL-2 down to a science by now.

I'd like that cover as a poster, even.

Looks like more retailers are offering up unique in-game items for Dragon Age pre-orders, so it isn't just Gamestop now.  That means I can feel free to pre-order from Amazon now.  Also, Bioware put up a picture of the collector's edition and more details.


And yes, that Borderlands cover is awesome.

That's the item worth having. Hell, the feral charm adds health regen. I don't even care if these bonuses are minor. Bastards.

All preorders get the Memory Ring supposedly.  It's the second item that's exclusive to each retailer.

Amazon - Lion Paw Boots - adds to armor, dodge, and evading missiles.
EA Store - Band of Fire - Adds to Stamina, fire resist, and spirit resist.
Gamecrazy - Guildmasters Belt - Increase monetary gain, adds to Cunning, and increase chance to dodge attacks.
Direct 2 Drive - Dalish Ring - Increased effectiveness of healing effects, subtract damage from darkspawn attacks, and increase combat health regeneration.

All digital copies come with the Warden's Keep DLC to make up for not getting a metal case and the cloth map.



Bioware's community manager is also saying in the forums that the regular version of the game gets Shale and the Mass Effect 2 armor as well (http://daforums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=689474&forum=135&sp=0).  It only needs to be purchased separately if you buy a used copy of the game.
