Title: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Velorath on July 21, 2009, 03:11:00 PM All games on this list have a confirmed release date. Games with a ~ after the name are confirmed for a release that month, but not necessarily on that date. Some games of course may end up getting pushed back. I may or may not add pictures to this thread later. Haven't decided yet.

Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Morfiend on July 21, 2009, 05:41:52 PM Some good looking games coming up, but after the last two year's Aug-Oct game releases, this looks positively dull.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Velorath on July 22, 2009, 04:06:59 AM Added in Preorder Bonuses (at least for Amazon, and EBStop for now) and Collector's Edition info. Used spoilers to cut down on clutter where needed.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Modern Angel on July 22, 2009, 07:26:15 AM Always is. It's difficult to buy 3-4 games in the same month as your wife's birthday. You too? Also a one month old baby at that point? Fuck... when did I become a real boy? :( So I'm getting all this buzz about Borderlands. Is this a full blown kind of open world RPG or tightly scripted, one session with friends type thing? Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Sky on July 22, 2009, 08:14:53 AM Nice to see MUA2 going the XML2 route with playable villains. I played through XML2 as the Brotherhood of Evil. Pre-order Juggy is tempting, since he was my tank in XML2...
The new Bioware is a gimme, and Borderlands does sound interesting, but I'll be holding off for a few months to see how quickly the love dies off here. ChampO is tempting, I liked CoH...but it's mmo and summer. AoC was an anomaly because it's a month for $13. Best to let the bugs get worked out of ChampO and check it out later imo. OpFlash or maybe even the new ArmA might make it onto an xmas list because my fiancee likes war shooters (just not the online players). The new Madden makes me wish I had dough for a console, it looks pretty nifty. I'd get a PS3 but my dad has a 360 :| Luckily I have no money, so no need to make that decision! Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Murgos on July 22, 2009, 08:28:12 AM I'm curious about how powerful the preorder and collectors edition items are on Dragon Age. Are they game affecting or just the equivalent of stuff you will have out-leveled in 30 minutes?
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Yegolev on July 22, 2009, 09:16:22 AM The only one I am on the fence about is Persona.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Velorath on July 22, 2009, 12:58:07 PM I'm curious about how powerful the preorder and collectors edition items are on Dragon Age. Are they game affecting or just the equivalent of stuff you will have out-leveled in 30 minutes? I'll probably pick up the collector's edition of Dragon Age. Seems worth it for the extra $15. Only problem is that I'll be picking up Dragon Age on the PC, but I play Mass Effect on the 360, so I might not be able to use the Mass Effect 2 item (unless it's a code for an XBL download or something). Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Velorath on August 08, 2009, 04:17:34 AM Dragon Age just got delayed until Nov. 3rd.

Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Velorath on August 08, 2009, 02:49:30 PM Delayed? Gay. I bet it's to bump it closer to Christmas. I thought that was possible at first, but now they're also saying that the PS3 version is getting delayed even further and will release "later in November". Sounds like maybe there are some last minute issues and they have to divert some of the resources from the PS3 team to get the 360 and PC versions out by Nov. 3. Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Margalis on August 08, 2009, 03:49:24 PM So many deluxe editions and pre-order bonuses. I'm tempted to say it's similar to the state of comic books in the 90s and evidence of underlying problems in the industry that are going to surface in a big way soon. (Or already have begun to surface)
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: ahoythematey on August 08, 2009, 03:52:33 PM Ugh. I shouldn't be so cavalier with my money, but that Demon's Souls Deluxe just sat there taunting me with it's soundtrack and guide. I had to click "Pre-Order".
What exactly does the referral link give the site again, Schild? Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Velorath on August 08, 2009, 04:08:34 PM So many deluxe editions and pre-order bonuses. I'm tempted to say it's similar to the state of comic books in the 90s and evidence of underlying problems in the industry that are going to surface in a big way soon. (Or already have begun to surface) I wouldn't have too much of a problem with pre-order bonuses if most of them weren't Gamestop exclusives. Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: fuser on August 08, 2009, 07:17:04 PM IL-2 is gonna be console only?! :mob: I'd just wish someone would implement a campaign mode so you could play it like SWOTL. Looks a lot like SWON but a little more serious outing. Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Engels on August 08, 2009, 08:07:48 PM Thing is, the 'old' IL-2 had so many functions and commands that one needed a keyboard to play it. I shudder to think how its been dumed down. I wonder if Maddox (the original IL-2 creator) is involved at all in this new one.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: NiX on August 08, 2009, 08:19:38 PM Fear not, word is they're working on a new one for the PC. Birds of Prey will stick to consoles though.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: MisterNoisy on August 08, 2009, 09:42:50 PM Fuck-all until October, then my wallet cries out in agony - Alpha Protocol, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Forza 3 LE and Tekken 6. Ouch.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: schild on August 08, 2009, 10:19:27 PM The world comes to a stop when Borderlands comes out and then a battle in the thunderdome to see if I can be torn away for Dragon Age. This is going to get bloody.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Hawkbit on August 09, 2009, 05:40:01 AM Dragon Age is going to be a Xmas thing, gotta save something the family can buy. That way I can see what platform I want to buy it on from the reviews.
I worry that my 8800gtx won't pull off Borderlands, thinking about PS3 for it. Unsure. :oh_i_see: Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Hoax on August 09, 2009, 10:24:58 AM I see Boderlands and not much else. Unsure. :oh_i_see: I'm pretty sure my 8800GT is going to run Borderlands just fine, unless you're an anti-aliasing whore, I just can't see it being a big stresser on a graphics card. Gearbox generally doesn't push the limits on games. I'll probably have to upgrade for Dragon Age on the PC though just because Bioware is terrible at optimization. My big purchase this holiday season is this (http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Moog-Little-Phatty-Stage-II?sku=482170). Fucking /drool.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: jth on August 10, 2009, 03:30:39 AM Good thing I postponed my 5 week "summer vacation" to September/October :awesome_for_real:
Dissidia, OFP: Dragon Rising, Alpha Protocol, Uncharted 2 and Borderlands look promising enough to be put on shopping list, plus perhaps Dragon Age whenever it gets released. I'm not sure yet about Demon's Souls since I have the Asian version, but most probably I'll get the US version as well at some point (or an European version, if that will happen sooner). Oh, and there's also this, which was not on the list: 9/22 Katamari Forever (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-debut-katamari-forever/48584) (PS3) Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Hoax on August 10, 2009, 08:52:48 AM That reminds me, I'll get Demon Souls and/or Marvel if people here are playing it and I've got the funds.

Title: Re: Game Releases: Aug - Oct '09 Post by: Hayduke on August 11, 2009, 08:18:58 AM If the local splitscreen is really fun I could see Borderlands being good for consoles, but yeah I'm sticking to the PC version.

This time, they ignore the ROGUE. /snarl Whatever. I'm still ordering from Gamestop.
