Title: 3-d platformers on the 360?
Post by: Azazel on June 22, 2009, 09:23:49 PM
So this time I've been asked by a friend who is going to be looking after a 360 for a few weeks which are the best and most accessable 3-d platformers on it.

Basically, one of the staff is borrowing one of my school 360s for the midyear break, and wants to play stuff like Crash Bandicoot/Spyro/etc which they enjoyed on PS2. So they've asked me what would be good rentals.

Since this genre is not my favoured one, I'm wondering what people have to suggest.

All I can think of so far would be:
Lego Star Wars/Indy/Batman
Kung-Fu Panda

I know the PS3 is well-served with this stuff, but we don't have one of those, so it don't matter.

Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

The Lego games and Kung-Fu Panda are action titles. As such, do you mean true blue platformer or do you mean a game with weapons that features jumping on platforms of some kind.

Platformers are kinda dead :(

Crackdown is a great action game with some platforming elements.

She's after stuff more in line with Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and so forth. So platform-action titles really.

Crackdown is great, but I don't think it's her cup of tea. Likewise stuff like Assassin's Creed. (well not as great, but you get the idea).

I did come up with Kameo and The Simpsons Game.

I think there are some older platformers in the Arcade.

Maybe try Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts?

Maybe try Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts?

I came here to say this. And if she doesn't like the vehicle building part you can get the old Banjo from XBLA.

Will pass on the B-K recommendation as well.

XBLA stuff is out of the equation - the box has to be back in my classroom in 2 weeks, and it's not online, etc (yet)

You get plenty of premade vehicles in Banjo-Kazooie, plus it's funny so I recommend.  3D platformers that don't suck are pretty scarce in general, nevermind on the 360.  I'd pass on Kameo, really, it's OK but I think The Simpsons Game and Nuts & Bolts are better.

I found Lego Indiana Jones more fun than Lego Batman, for what it's worth. Kung Fu Panda was meh.
