Title: Doomsday Post by: Falconeer on June 19, 2009, 08:30:28 AM 1997: Escape from NY meets 28 Days Later meets Mad Max with various homages and references to Braveheart, A Song of Ice and Fire and I don't know Flesh and Blood?
The trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJMjiCxHLdg) doesn't give this movie's hilarious lack of shame any justice, and kinda spoils the fun. My advice: skip the trailer and rent Doomsday now! It's too silly to be missed. Fake edit: the director is the guy behind The Descent and Dog Soldiers. It's a British thing. Title: Re: Doomsday Post by: Falconeer on June 19, 2009, 12:01:26 PM Shawn of the Dead is a great movie. This is not. Just such a weird mishmash...
Title: Re: Doomsday Post by: Samwise on June 19, 2009, 12:02:52 PM I agree with Falc's assessment, although I'm not sure if I would say it's too silly to be missed. You probably won't regret Netflixing it, but I would not say that your life is incomplete if you haven't watched it either.
Title: Re: Doomsday Post by: Falconeer on June 19, 2009, 12:59:29 PM Yeah, no. I take the exaggeration back. By no means unmissable. But it's worth a few belly laughs because of what I call completely self-aware lack of shame.
Title: Re: Doomsday Post by: Margalis on June 20, 2009, 12:19:40 AM The first half was enjoyable cheese but once they left the city for the magical kingdom of Sir Malcolm it totally went off rails and never recovered.

Title: Re: Doomsday Post by: Ragnoros on June 20, 2009, 09:02:33 PM I would personally avoid spending ones time watching this movie.
It tries to take itself seriously for far too much of the film. Only to fail miserably and just seem stupid. Then it turns around and goes full retard. Which is funny, but leaves you wondering what the fuck the other 85% of the movie was trying to do.
