Title: Splinter Cell Double Agent - Copy Protection
Post by: schild on June 01, 2009, 06:28:53 PM
I wanna play through it on PC. Steam version is $4.99.

Someone look it up for me, what copy protection does the Steam version have? Is it still starforce?

Couldn't find a straight answer, going to find out the hard way. I mean, what's $5?!

$5 is a bargain to potentially inflict starforce on your computing machine!

I bought this on Steam as well figuring it wouldn't have the copy protection, but I haven't installed it yet so I can't confirm or deny.  This did get me looking for Chaos Theory as well since it's the prequel and I haven't played that either.  After surfing the interwebz a bit I was scared off of CT by the reported copy protection.  Anyone have any advice/ideas if I want to pickup and play CT without sacrificing my computer?  I guess I could just pickup the Xbox version, but I'd prefer to play on my PC (my kids don't give their old man much time on the consoles).

I did finally install this the other day.  I haven't played it yet, but my computer didn't implode after installing it.  I assume Steam has their own install process that strips out all the crap from the original install.  Steam itself is the copy protection, afterall.

You'd imagine things would work that way - ie logically, but often they don't.

Is there any place that has a list of games not to install due to malevolent copy protection?
