Title: Steam on mac using crossover questions Post by: RUiN 427 on June 01, 2009, 04:49:39 PM Yes, I have used steam through a bootcamp partition of windows. However I was looking for less hassle, and heard about crossover. It's not the most ideal way to play PC games while still in OSX, but i heard that Steam and valve games run excellent on it.
I downloaded the trial version and steam loaded up great right there on OSX (only the community features like forums and comments weren't working). I began downloading TF2 and Portal demos but stopped them short and never got around to trying it out before the 7 or 6 day trial was up. So I'm wondering if any other mac users have had success with it? it's only $30 for the full version, but if it's unplayable or not as good as i've been hearing then i don't want to waste the money. Please post your brief system spec and your findings and opinions. The comments in their supported games section turned me off from trying it.

The games can vary wildly and almost always aren't actually playable. You're better off rebooting into Boot Camp, usually.
The only thing Crossover really chokes on at this point on installing is anything involving .NET. |
