Title: Bat Country
Post by: Shockeye on December 07, 2004, 11:09:21 AM
I thought it would be a good idea to list our characters in Bat Country on Earthen Ring and what professions we are so we know who to send resources to.

Zurgzurg - Level 22 Hunter
Engineer - 160
Mining - 120
First Aid - 150
Fishing - 150
Cooking - 150

I could use engineering recipes above 150 skill, jade, citrine, moonstones, moss agates, silver, iron, heavy stone, etc.

Ithica, level 27 mage

Tailoring - Around 130 ish, could use any silk you could spare (and if you ever get a Lusterous Perl I could really use one, I can Make Pheonix Gloves (increases fire spell damage by up to +6)

Enchanting - Around 140 ish, always looking for high level green items to Disenchant, i REALLY need the better reagents, cause low level stuff just seems to give me Strange Dust, and i have TONES of fucking dust now.

Haemcow, Tauren Warrior, level 19

I'm currently at 117 in Alchemy and 115 in Herbalism. I need things like blackmouth fish (to make the oil needed for water breathing potions), discolored warg hearts (for discolored healing potions - 140-180 instant hit point heal, 2 min. cooldown), deviate fish (I forget what for but I think Elixir of Giant Growth), and other than that I think I can find the ingredients.

I used to get a good bit of peral drops off the pirates on the Merchant Coast, but didn't know what they were for, so sold them.

I still play, usually as Twee or Grundel, but I'm not on often due to stuff.  Righ is on a lot at night, till the wee hours, as Irth, mostly.  He can invite and I'll tell him to keep an eye out for you. Ithica can also invite, though I'm not entirely sure he know's that.

Thanks for invite last night. Anyone have any alts around 20th level, or do I need to catass my way to the upper echelons? I like to avoid pickup groups if at all possible for obvious reasons.

Yes, Righ (16 warrior) can be on more now that Irth has his mount. I would like to do some of the elite quests. Irth has only done a few in Ragefire (which pretty much sucks). I also have level 11 rogue, druid and mage characters which I could get up to 15-20 fairly quickly if that would be better.

BAH. I need more people to talk to on Shadowsong. Wuss.

You could have easily caught up too.  Our entire group is only playing WoW like quarter time now.  The catass is addicted to Nascar 2005 and my ex-roommate put himself on some sort of scary video game self restriction (none past 10 on weeknights.. /shiver).

My duties at f13.net are preventing me from playing games. Ironical, isn't it?

Worked my alt (Anyaala) up to 12th level.  Mage, tailoring and enchanting. Are there any other enchanters in the guild that still play? It is gonna be a pain in the ass, but it seem fun (skill is a whopping 30 right now I think).

Righ, I have a couple of buddies with characters in their mid-teens, so give me a shout if/when you play your alt.

We should get those guys into Bat Country, WAP.  I've started playing and coming up on elite quests and can never find anyone to group with.  Righ's main is in his mid 40s and has the same problem.  It seems most people in Bat Country have left the server, the game or, at least, are playing characters that are not in the guild.  Most people haven't been on for 2-3 weeks, including our fearless leader who I suspect canceled, leaving us without a guild leader or the ability to reform the guild and keep the present name. (which I like a lot)  I've been thinking of dropping Bat Country and trying to find a decent guild that is a bit more active.   I just hope they don't expect me to role play!

Unfortunately, i have moved over to Varimathras for a bit, to try out some PvP.  I may eventyally return to ER.

As to Enchanting, I would heartily reccomend ditching it (for the moment).  In all honesty, it SUCKS as an opening skill.  No one ever wants to buy starter enchantments (why enchant gear which you will be changing out in 2 or 3 levels) and it is a BIIIG money sink, since you are ALWAYS disenchanting stuff you should be selling.  I would reccomend dropping it, picking up skinning, and making pretty decent bank till you hit 40.  Then ditch skinning and go echanter.  THis way you can easily get ahold of, or make through tailoring, the stuff  you need to grind up enchanting really quickly.

Yes, but I think there are other things that only the guild leader can do, such as talbards.  Not sure if there's anything else.  Thing is, though... it would a good thing to have the guild leader someone who hasn't cancelled the game.  It's not a problem, though.  If you're not planning to come back, I'm sure we can all sort out another guild.  I just like the name Bat Country but that's less important than having a guild with people in it.

I don't know why I'm on an rp guild.  There was a reason but I've forgotten what it was.  Something about mature community and a limited number of Legolas variations, I think.  Unfortunately, nearly all the people I followed to Earthen Ring have left already.  Maybe I'll just follow you around, now.

Prepare for a good, old-fashioned stalking!

Post by: Righ on January 11, 2005, 04:01:06 PM
There are too many elite quests in the 40s, and many of the non-elite ones are improssible without crowd control too. Irth has left Bat Country in order to find an active guild. Irth promoted Righ to 0.0 DPS Panda, a rank that can also add people if required.

Title: Bat Country
Post by: WayAbvPar on January 12, 2005, 10:13:33 AM
Looks like I got promoted too, so I can add my other buddy- that should give us a total of 4 active members =/

As for enchanting- I have a higher level character (and a buddy) feeding my enchanter crap to disenchant, so the money sink isn't horrid yet. I made the mistake of using some of my resources to enchant for skill gains instead of holding them for when disenchanting no longer gives a skill gain (which I think is reasonably soon- I am in my mid-40s IIRC). I am not so worried about it being profitable- more interested in it being interesting. So far, it is a little slow, but I think it will be cool.

I still have my characters in the guild, but I play much less than WAP or Righ.  I'm going through another one of those unmotivated phases.  It seems to me to be related to the weather.  (I'm really not kidding)  I get all soft and floppy when it's dreary for more than a day or so.

Most people are playing Horde, but Darniaq's guild on Icecrown is Alliance.  I have a warrior in it.  It's a very, very large guild but seem friendly enough.  If you play Horde on Earthen Ring, which is RP, my name there is Twee and Grundel, Righ is there, and WAP (who is Grishnak) can invite.  You can also contact Irth (Righ) who is in a Horde guild called Misery.  Mostly everyone else in Bat Country has left the game or are hiding in other characters... I have no idea.

If you can get past the non-humanity of the Horde, come join us on Earthen Ring. I have a couple of buddies who have joined BC , so there are 5 of us (at least) that are still active. Send me a tell or mail in game (Grishnak or Anyaala) and I can get you invited. Also let us know what type of char you play- I am sure we all have extra stuff to send you, or can craft you something decent.

Use one, you won't miss much. There are better bows out there than guns which makes up for the crafted shot benefit (higher DPS + agility bonus). The blue quality guns you can craft are not only average for a blue, but use materials you shouldn't be wasting on making an average blue.

Basically, use a gun if you go engineer, but don't go engineer to use a gun.

Title: Re: Bat Country
Post by: WayAbvPar on February 17, 2005, 02:41:18 PM
That is kind of how I felt- if I was going to use a gun, engineering was the obvious choice. With a bow...maybe I will try mining/blacksmithing. Or maybe double down on gathering skills to feed my other characters/guildies.

If I ever get the time I would like to play through a shadow-spec undead priest. But with 500ms pings...

I tried some of the other RP servers (on the west coast) that I have characters on. 200-300ms pings.

Every server was "high" population. I went to some crappy low pop servers and created a character and had nice low 30-60ms pings.

Too many people on each server, it seems.

I've started playing my Undead Priest, Shadebone. He's level 9 so feel free to send him lots of pretty dead baubles.

[EDIT] Well my time on Earthen Ring is again done. Even when logging in at oddball times my time is hardly ever below 200ms. I simply do not get a good connection to that server, even when the population is low. Time for this monkey to find a new place to hang his banana.

Is ping really that big of a deal? Mine is usually green (which i think means <200ms), but I just don't see it mattering that much. It isn't like it is a FPS. Even PvP (which is a bit twitchy) is possible with a less than ideal ping time, AFAIK.

I've never seen anybody more worthy of fast and furious PK-ing.  When do we start?  I'm only lvl 12, but maybe I can distract him by waving my arms around and yelling "Hey!  Fat-ass!" while the rest of you move in for the kill.

Am am What I am.I choose the name Adonnis because I want my character to reflect how and what I look like(ooc and in RP). Which is what most people do when choosing a name for a character. Adonis meaning in shape and Beautiful.(ooc) Though the name gets its reference from not a god but a mortal of greek mythology, In todays language its used to describes ones physique i.e. He has the body of Adonis. When RPing in Warcraft, Adonnis is the known to be humble and the fairest of night elves. See for yourself http://profiles.yahoo.com/diamondadonis1 So Aylor don't be mad be upset that im better looking then you (ooc and maybe if you did some push ups intsead of sitting on your butt eating chips all day and playing WOW you could be an Adonis too)

Someone should really make a post that when a guild leader decides to drop his sub, the title of guild leader should fall down the chain to the next highest person (etc etc) until the people resub. This is an unfair mechanic to all of you (and pretty daft of me to leave without thinking about it, apologies, AGAIN ).

Thanks Way, Stumpgrinder got me in last night.  I think he was shocked to learn he had invite powers...

I'm playing a rogue because I really like the play style and thats what I played for 95% (reached lvl 19) of beta but I am going to be trying several alts over the next few days to sort kick the tires and see how fast they accelerate when I am trying to merge onto the highway.  I tried priest and mage yesterday but I don't think either of them have the mix of luxury and performance I am looking for.

Title: Re: Bat Country

Priest and mage blossom a little bit later than the rogue who is whoopass throughout.    Priest takes about 20 levels to mature, mages a bit less.

Of course, if you're looking for the right blend of melee/magic (moreso earlier on); I'd suggest trying a shaman.

I'm playing a rogue because I really like the play style and thats what I played for 95% (reached lvl 19) of beta but I am going to be trying several alts over the next few days to sort kick the tires and see how fast they accelerate when I am trying to merge onto the highway.

This is the first game in a while where I actually want to play multiple toons b/c I like them each.  My 9 year old keeps making new guys and playing them up to lvl 10-12 where in I take them for a spin to see what if I like them enough to play em; that where my warlock came from; mage, warlock, druid and shaman are all in the queue...

That being said, I still like the rogue a lot.  Just recently solo'ed my poison quest, raised cooking to get my thistle tea, and got some better daggers.  Since I'm trying not to hit external websites, there's still some easy stuff I hadn't tracked down yet (like where do I get flash powder for Vanish? And what level can i pick up swords or maces as a weapon skilsl?), but he still is, good for soloing or grouping thus far.

BTW, I can get detect traps as a skill; is this actually useful?

10 for swords, that I am sure of.  You need to find the swords trainer in a big city, the guards will point you to him.

I logged in Zurgzurg the other day and promoted everyone I could so everyone should be able to invite.

Are they promoted far enough for talbards?

Doubt it.

I don't want one anyway.  I'm just trying to stir up some trouble.

Mace and sword you can get trained from a Weaponmaster- I want to say I did it in Thunder Bluff (I know I got guns there). As for flash powder, you can get it from the poison vendors- the one in Org is in the next shop to the right of the trainers in the Cleft of Shadow. Detect trap you will need for the next part of the rogue quest (the part that takes you to Hillsbrad, after the poison cure).

Finally made the trek to Thunder Bluff to get mace (and guns), and picked up a decent mace.  Holy McNuggets Batman!  Dual weilding Mace/dagger plus SS plus poison plus stuns (cheap shot, kidney punch) plus lots of crits is a helluva smackdown...  Lvl 30 was here before I knew it.  Makes me wonder what sort of damage a similarly leveled warrior is doing b/c i can still fight thing 2-3 levels over my head reliably.

Btw, has anyone actually done the Gnomeragon instance?  Got suckered into trying the Scooty/Rig War quest (nice blue legs) at 25 and that place is a death trap if you're not in a group of 30-35s.  WTF were they thinking giving that to lvl 25's... Magic reflecting robots and other gnome nonsense? Ick.

I hate that place.  There is some decent loot (executioner's sword, techbot's CPU shield, and the Toxic Revenger dagger) but the instance is just boring to me.  It's all the same mobs over and over through endless hallways.

Where do you get the quest for it? I have never seen it- thought it was an Alliance only joint or something.

As far as I know, it is.  I'm Alliance (on Sargeras).  Morphiend and I kill each other.  Keep up!

I just posted in this thread because someone said the G-word.

For the Horde! you can get it from some goblins in the metal shop in Orgrimmar.  Somehow I got put onto this trail by some quests I was doing at the Splintertree outpost in Ashenvale.  At any rate one goblin in the engineering shop gives you the quests, then another goblin in there says "psst, if you are going to booty bay, talk to me" and he give you the quest named "Talking to Engineer Scooty" or something which basically you need to use the teleporter to get into Gnomergan at all.  (trek reference and all).  Apparently you can get some other quests once you are inside it.

Is BC still active?  I haven't logged in with my Warlock in about a week.  Would like to do some grouping with other f13 people.  I'm a tad below level 18.

Just played last night with Kurgok and Splurgo. See Xilren on quite a bit with his rogue too. Not sure about anyone else recently.
