Title: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Chinchilla on March 21, 2009, 07:16:42 PM I've got a huge MMO itch, but I just don't want to be alone in the game. I'd like to have ppl to chat with. There still a decent amount of you guys online and playing?

Plus I was trying to find which one had the majority of active ppl. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: proudft on March 22, 2009, 12:20:00 AM Or just go alliance on Doomhammer. It's WoW. There'll be people around. How much help they'll be is debatable, but if there's enough, you'll find things to do. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Kail on March 22, 2009, 11:02:44 AM The BR guild is still up on Venture Co. (H), though I'm the only one who's logging these days. Mostly I'm on Cenarion Circle. If you land on a server that I've got a guy on, I'll try and help, but I wouldn't recommend joining a server just for the privilege of my company (awesome though I am).

Had I known that... I log into my hunter from time to time... thinking about getting him to Lvl 80 now that I have my DK there Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Dren on March 23, 2009, 04:52:34 AM Whisperwind, Alliance. My chars all start with Dren.
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Shrike on March 23, 2009, 12:46:46 PM I don't ever recall seeing a Dren-anything on Whisperwind.
But then again, I tend to wander around in a daze most of the time. And I avoid Dalaran like the...umm, well...the plague. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? And I avoid Dalaran like the...umm, well...the plague. I'm close to having my fifth lvl 80. 5 other lvl 70's to work on. I've .... been around. I only go to Dalaran for professions and regret it everytime. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Chinchilla on March 25, 2009, 10:20:38 AM What's so bad about Dalaran? Spamming from gold sellers or something?
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Rasix on March 25, 2009, 10:21:36 AM What's so bad about Dalaran? Spamming from gold sellers or something? It's pretty laggy. That's really the only problem I have with it. Edit: You're listing your Shadowbane and UO characters in your sig? :uhrr: Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Nevermore on March 25, 2009, 10:26:01 AM Yeah, that's the only zone so far that my computer really chugs along at loading.
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Paelos on March 25, 2009, 12:28:19 PM Dalaran is laggy for sure. In addition, am I the only one that thinks that place has the shittiest background music in all of Northrend? Really bad chorus and crescendos that are too loud and annoy the crap out of me.
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Shrike on March 25, 2009, 12:36:43 PM What's so bad about Dalaran? Spamming from gold sellers or something? It's claustrophoblic, filled with idiots with oversized mounts, and...it's filled with more idiots with all sizes of mounts. The sewers are slightly better (and what that says about Dalaran I'm not sure I want to know). Funny you should mention gold sellers. They're the usual nuisance they've always been, but a new/old dynamic has crept into WoW recently that needs go to the wall: beggars. Yes, a blast from the EQ past: lowlife scum begging for gold at banks, the AH, and assorted tradeskill areas in cities. This last weekend I could have sworn I was in Rivervale with gnomes subbing for asslings. I may have to get a set of old world twill to wear when I hit the AH; the orange glowie armor seems to attract these leeches. Oh, if any of you pieces of ambulatory excrement see this post, I do turn your sorry asses in for harrassment, even though ignoring your worthless selves isn't particularly difficult. My silence isn't golden. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: bhodi on March 25, 2009, 12:42:40 PM I just say "No. Do a daily."
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Nevermore on March 25, 2009, 12:51:50 PM I had someone once repeatedly open a trade window with me demanding I give him gold. Oddly enough, this was a tactic that didn't work well for him.

Post by: Paelos on March 25, 2009, 01:15:45 PM I have no idea what's going on in that video.
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: bhodi on March 25, 2009, 01:17:22 PM Basically, he offers 5g but doesn't hit accept. Waits about 30 seconds, then bumps it up to 50g but doesn't hit accept. Waits a few minutes, bumps it up to 500g but doesn't hit accept....
The goal being see how long you can get them to hold the trade open before they storm off in disgust. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Koyasha on March 25, 2009, 01:19:52 PM Once, someone begged me for something. I said no. I also said I would be sending them a bill for my time used in writing my response. True to my word, I sent them an itemized bill with costs such as 'per character used in my response' and so on (and with a little extra humor, I COD'd a 'cracked bill' since you can't send an empty COD). To my surprise, my bill was paid.
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Paelos on March 25, 2009, 01:20:37 PM I see. Proof again that I would have no idea how to grief people.

The goal being see how long you can get them to hold the trade open before they storm off in disgust. Oooh, I got to try that. I'm rarely in Org long enough to actually get accosted face to face anymore. Some of my favorites are to say "Sure, I can spare some cash. Meet me at the top of the bank.", then just never show up. They'll continue to send tells, and you can keep giving them excuses or say that you're there and I don't know why they can't see you. This can go on for a while. Or you just ask them a really difficult question or just a difficult to type question. No one has ever answered "Ok, I'll give you the gold if you can name every US state capitol in reverse alphabetical order." Lately though, I've gone with a simple "no". Pure laziness on my part. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Ingmar on March 25, 2009, 01:58:04 PM I know Fordel used to send the newbie beggars on a quest to bring him 5 [Herb Baked Egg]s.

Yes, a blast from the EQ past: lowlife scum begging for gold at banks, the AH, and assorted tradeskill areas in cities. Your server only just got full enough to have them, then. I've been dealing with their nonsense for the last 4 years. Begs for mats, begs for gold, begs for dungeon runs, begs for elite kills. I long ago gave up being creative or even replying and just report spam on them now. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Paelos on March 25, 2009, 02:19:33 PM Yep, I ignore any requests immediately from people I don't know. Then when my ignore list gets full, I delete all but the last one and start over.

Most people would either just continue "OMG PLZZZZ GIV MONIEZ" or just go away entirely. One guy actually did. Just the one though. He ran off, went to kill owls or whatever, cooked them up and came back to me after 10 minutes or so. A gave him a few gold for his trouble. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: K9 on March 26, 2009, 03:12:09 AM I counter-spam them with requests for gold until they get confused and piss off.

I usually go by St Drahcir or Drahcir, but since everyone here met me as Chinchilla I used that as my name. I'm gonna dig through this post and join one of the servers that has the most active bunch of you guys. I'm gonna be trailing this game very soon. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Chimpy on March 26, 2009, 06:19:51 AM A buddy of mine opened a trade with some beggar in IF one afternoon, turned off auto-clear AFK, put 1500g in the window and did not hit accept and went to watch the Cubs. Every 10 minutes or so he would come back and give us status updates on the "trade". He had that window open for over an hour with the beggar sending him tells every minute or so "CUM ON MAN HIT ACCPT!!!!!"
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: ClydeJr on March 26, 2009, 08:07:59 AM I once told a beggar that my money was tied up in the bank and I'd have to pay a transaction penalty to get it out. If he would just loan me the money for the penalty...
I almost got him to give me the money. Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: Chinchilla on March 26, 2009, 08:13:23 AM I think fucking around w/ the beggars is a mini-game in and of itself.
Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Post by: kildorn on March 26, 2009, 09:52:06 AM I never get beggars, but I rarely show up in town for more than a minute.
I get random out of nowhere tells to run people through instances though. Like, when I'm in Naxx. :awesome_for_real: Title: Re: How many of you guys play WoW? Handy tip: 'Report spam' puts all characters on the beggar's entire account onto a temporary ignore list, plus has the potential to trigger a GM investigation if they've been annoying too many people. :awesome_for_real: |
