Title: Best Worst Movie Post by: Tale on March 14, 2009, 02:21:08 PM Documentary on the cult following of Troll 2, considered the worst movie ever made. About to premiere at SXSW.
Official site: http://www.bestworstmovie.com/ Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqRccOQjmVQ I don't know much about Troll 2, but I like Katie Graham who shot and co-edited the documentary. She's one of my favourite YouTube people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ7eP03MQt0 Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Wasted on March 14, 2009, 05:23:28 PM I would love to find a movie store with a holy fucking shit section.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Merusk on March 14, 2009, 05:58:43 PM So this movie is worse than Mannos? I find that hard to believe, as even MST3K couldn't save Mannos.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: stray on March 15, 2009, 03:47:00 AM I would love to find a movie store with a holy fucking shit section. One store I used to go to back in the day had a "Cult Classics" shelf. My favorite part of the store too! Citizen Toxie, Parents, I Spit On Your Grave.. Where would I be without them? Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: schild on March 15, 2009, 05:20:41 AM This just depresses me because I couldn't afford the first SXSW that arose since I moved to Austin :(
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: IainC on March 16, 2009, 02:35:23 AM Some random video rental store (back when videos were still on magnetic tape) had an entire wall display dedicated to Troma titles.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: WayAbvPar on March 16, 2009, 02:46:57 PM So this movie is worse than Mannos? I find that hard to believe, as even MST3K couldn't save Mannos. Seriously. God that movie is painful to watch, even with Joel and the bots kicking the shit out of it. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: rattran on March 16, 2009, 04:10:26 PM I think the best quote from the mst3k Manos is "Every frame of this movie looks like somebody's last known photograph" Lots of deaths/suicides among the cast after it too.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Merusk on March 17, 2009, 09:20:25 AM I fast forwarded through the 11-12 min car ride with no sound at the beginning of the movie. Anyone else do that?
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: stray on March 17, 2009, 08:48:31 PM I think I fast forwarded through the whole thing. WayAbv's right.. So terrible that not even MST could redeem it.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Tale on March 17, 2009, 10:58:56 PM But this is supposed to be the "best worst" movie, not the "worst worst" movie.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: lamaros on March 17, 2009, 11:05:49 PM From what I've seen Johnny Mnemonic takes the cake, but I'm sure there are things that and better-worse than that that I haven't seen.

The mere presence of Henry Rollins and Ice-T elevate Johnny Mnemonic leaps and bounds beyond many, many films. Plus, Dina Meyer is hot. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: stray on March 17, 2009, 11:42:35 PM Shit, I kind of like it. I suggest a Sci-Fi Ice-T double feature with Tank Girl. Can't go wrong. 8-)

Ah, yeah in that case, we're probably in agreement then. Tale, I'm not sure if I've even seen Troll 2. Had no idea there was a cult following. Now I wonder if Leprechaun 5: In the Hood has fans like myself (yet another Ice-T gem, btw). Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: lamaros on March 18, 2009, 12:09:59 AM I thought that was what Tale was getting at with this thread? I was getting at "there's a movie called Best Worst Movie and I know something about somebody who made it, so I'll post about it in the movies forum". Ah yeas, I misspoke. I meant what others were getting into in the thread you started. The trailer looks pretty interesting. I wonder if it will get a release here. At best maybe ACMI would run it I would guess. Despite Keanu's suckitude, I enjoyed that movie. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: schild on March 21, 2009, 02:16:30 AM I don't know how someone can't like Johnny Mnemonic.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Merusk on March 21, 2009, 04:53:04 AM Slavish devotion to the Gibson short story and holding its exact narrative as sacrosanct.
Fuck, I've heard Gibsonites bitch the movie out based solely on the fact that Molly didn't have the eyeglass implants and razor nails. I thought it was a great adaptation and expansion, myself. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: schild on March 21, 2009, 11:57:54 AM Gibson isn't even fun to read. Meh.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: lamaros on March 21, 2009, 06:34:15 PM The short story is awful, the movie is way better.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: stray on March 22, 2009, 09:37:40 AM I will admit though -- even though I'm a fan of Keanu's movies, that is definitely one to confirm people's criticism of him. Some of the worst acting ever. "I WANT ROOM SERVICE!!" I mean damn, he was outshined by Dolph fucking Lundgren! And Henry and Ice-T who aren't even actors. And a dolphin too.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Bunk on March 23, 2009, 06:09:48 AM Most of you should know my vote for best, worst movie.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: FatuousTwat on March 23, 2009, 06:40:16 AM I would love to find a movie store with a holy fucking shit section. Pretty much the entire store (http://www.moviemadnessvideo.com/) is holy fucking shit(in a good way). Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Sky on April 01, 2009, 08:27:32 AM Warhol's Blood for Draclua and Flesh for Frankenstein. They are to movies what his 'art' is to artwork.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Mattemeo on April 04, 2009, 08:26:42 AM I have a great fondness for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
Yes, it's a bloody awful movie if what you're after is thought provoking, narrative science fiction. If, however, you're capable of reverting your brain into that of a small boy growing up in the late 40s, addicted to pulp scifi comics, you'll understand the appeal of the movie. While Speilberg and Lucas explain away the corniness of the Indy and Starwars series as homages to Saturday/Sunday matinee shows, Sky Captain doesn't even bother homaging, it just sets out to be one, plain and simple. The greatest, silliest one ever made, with 100' killer robots, blatant Nick Fury/Helicarrier rip-offs (seriously, pre-bugfuck Angelina Jolie in an eyepatch and SS-snappy military uniform? I'll be in my bunk), spitfires, airships, rayguns and the post-humous disembodied head of Sir Laurence Olivier... what's not to like? Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Murgos on April 07, 2009, 06:49:00 AM Warhol's Blood for Draclua and Flesh for Frankenstein. They are to movies what his 'art' is to artwork. A celebration of the popular? Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: WindupAtheist on April 08, 2009, 04:32:34 AM Now I wonder if Leprechaun 5: In the Hood has fans like myself (yet another Ice-T gem, btw). "Jesus loves me, this I know. And if he don't, I'll find a ho." Leprechaun in the Hood was fucking awesome. It was a movie that knew it was inherently full of shit and just ran with it. I knew it was going good places as soon as Ice T pulled that baseball bat out of his afro to fight the leprechaun at the beginning. I don't know if I'd call it a bad movie in the typical "deserves the MST3K treatment" sort of way, though. It's not like they tried to make a serious movie and instead accidentally cranked out something that was hilarious for it's ineptitude. Leprechaun in the Hood was deliberately written to wring as much humor out of it's ridiculous premise as it could, and was competently executed for a B movie. And it was popular enough that they sent the leprechaun back to tha hood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0339294/) two years later. No Ice T in that one though, and really it's the sort of joke you can only do once. The next one really should have been Leprechaun in the Old West or something. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: DraconianOne on April 08, 2009, 05:26:45 AM Blog entry by Brian Trenchard Smith (http://filmindustrybloggers.com/thegenredirector/2008/06/16/how-my-16m-leprechaun-4-movie-was-made/) about he managed to get the job of directing Leprachaun 4: Leprachaun in Space. It's very amusing and quite insightful.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Triforcer on April 08, 2009, 07:02:53 PM Starship Troopers, hands down.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: justdave on April 08, 2009, 09:06:25 PM Flash Gordon. No argument is possible unless you take down the lightning field first.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: lamaros on April 08, 2009, 09:20:44 PM Starship Troopers, hands down. Starship Troopers is deliberate, though. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Wasted on April 08, 2009, 10:34:07 PM Flash Gordon. No argument is possible unless you take down the lightning field first. Flesh Gordon is better  Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: justdave on April 08, 2009, 11:19:03 PM Nope, I see your Craig T. Nelson, and raise you Max Von Sydow and Topol!
Making a campy, coy-but sexed-up version of Flash Gordon is kind of like opening a Hooters, but with tits. :) Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Sky on April 24, 2009, 11:03:11 AM I'm so tempted to go to an Ed Woods film night at the local vintage cinema (he's kinda sorta from the region). Plan 9 from Outer Space!
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Bunk on April 25, 2009, 07:46:45 PM Flesh Gordon - yea, we thought we were pretty cool watching that movie in our teens. But at that age, few things are funnier than penis shaped space ships.
Movie had one great scene in it. When the Sinbad style animated giant falls off the building, his laid-back exclamation of "Oh, fuck" - made a room full of drunk teenagers laugh for hours. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Abagadro on April 25, 2009, 08:05:12 PM The sequal to Flesh Gordon is painfully bad.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: ahoythematey on April 25, 2009, 09:24:38 PM I can't think of too many right now, except The Pest, Roadhouse, and anything from the Troma label.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: justdave on April 29, 2009, 12:50:42 PM Even though I have yet to track it down and verify, I'm going to vote for this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_Entry). Yet more proof that Yaphet Kotto is the black Paul Sorvino, and will act in anything.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Tale on April 29, 2009, 04:41:35 PM I don't know why you all think this is about voting for a movie. It's about a movie called Best Worst Movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1144539/).
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: stray on April 29, 2009, 04:52:24 PM Yeah, yeah, yeah. Try to keep your precious little thread on topic, why don't you. :oh_i_see:
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: justdave on April 29, 2009, 05:04:27 PM Hey, we can't help it if the thread title is the blood agar of internet movie discussion.
It's your fault we derailed this goddamn thing! Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Tale on April 29, 2009, 07:56:19 PM Analyze This! There Will Be Blood Before The Devil Knows You're Dead. It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: ahoythematey on June 07, 2009, 06:57:42 PM Ohh! I thought of a new one to add to the off-topicness! Parents. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098068/)
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Margalis on June 07, 2009, 08:31:40 PM Before the Devil Knows You're Dead was watchable for exactly one reason.
Or two. Hur hur. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Tale on June 07, 2009, 09:38:13 PM Before the Devil Knows You're Dead was watchable for exactly one reason. Or two. Hur hur. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: HaemishM on June 08, 2009, 09:21:00 AM Before the Devil Knows You're Dead was watchable for exactly one reason. Or two. Hur hur. I like that movie even beyond the Tomei tatas. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Margalis on June 09, 2009, 03:00:53 AM I was just bashing it because it was brought up. I like grim movies but I don't like movies like that or A Simple Plan where the whole point is to torture the characters.
Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: ghost on June 12, 2009, 08:35:10 PM Dark Star is a "good" bad movie if you haven't seen it. And there are few scenes funnier than Burt Reynolds and the vaseline in his boots in Showgirls.

Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: Venkman on June 14, 2009, 05:53:55 AM Starship Troopers, hands down. Starship Troopers is deliberate, though. Err, deliberately awful? With that budget? I know they thought they were trying for a sequel to Robocop (with bugs) mixed with Good Ol' Fashioned American Knowhow, but the whole thing was a fail. Too bright, too colorful, too happy, too everything-you-don't-do if you want to be taken serious. They were way beyond 6000SUX here, into some stupid space reserved for the likes of Cannonball Run 2 (gods I still hate that cartoon wrapup at the end). And I don't even need to have liked the book to hate this movie. It was just a bad movie. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: ghost on June 14, 2009, 08:08:40 AM Dark Star is a "good" bad movie if you haven't seen it. Striptease and showgirls are both abominations. Title: Re: Best Worst Movie Post by: cmlancas on June 14, 2009, 10:43:45 AM If we're derailed into bad, bad movies that tried hard, Johnny Depp's Secret Window is up there.
Also for hilarious movies that are bad, Teen Ape Goes to Camp, you scurvy-ass troglodyte. |
