So this movie is worse than Mannos?  I find that hard to believe, as even MST3K couldn't save Mannos.

One store I used to go to back in the day had a "Cult Classics" shelf. My favorite part of the store too!  :lol: Citizen Toxie, Parents, I Spit On Your Grave.. Where would I be without them?

This just depresses me because I couldn't afford the first SXSW that arose since I moved to Austin :(

Some random video rental store (back when videos were still on magnetic tape) had an entire wall display dedicated to Troma titles.

Seriously. God that movie is painful to watch, even with Joel and the bots kicking the shit out of it.

I think the best quote from the mst3k Manos is "Every frame of this movie looks like somebody's last known photograph" Lots of deaths/suicides among the cast after it too.

But this is supposed to be the "best worst" movie, not the "worst worst" movie.

From what I've seen Johnny Mnemonic takes the cake, but I'm sure there are things that and better-worse than that that I haven't seen.

The mere presence of Henry Rollins and Ice-T elevate Johnny Mnemonic leaps and bounds beyond many, many films.  Plus, Dina Meyer is hot.

Shit, I kind of like it. I suggest a Sci-Fi Ice-T double feature with Tank Girl. Can't go wrong.  :roll: 8-)

Slavish devotion to the Gibson short story and holding its exact narrative as sacrosanct.

Fuck, I've heard Gibsonites bitch the movie out based solely on the fact that Molly didn't have the eyeglass implants and razor nails.  I thought it was a great adaptation and expansion, myself.

Gibson isn't even fun to read. Meh.

The short story is awful, the movie is way better.

I will admit though -- even though I'm a fan of Keanu's movies, that is definitely one to confirm people's criticism of him. Some of the worst acting ever. "I WANT ROOM SERVICE!!" I mean damn, he was outshined by Dolph fucking Lundgren! And Henry and Ice-T who aren't even actors. And a dolphin too.

I have a great fondness for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Yes, it's a bloody awful movie if what you're after is thought provoking, narrative science fiction. If, however, you're capable of reverting your brain into that of a small boy growing up in the late 40s, addicted to pulp scifi comics, you'll understand the appeal of the movie.

While Speilberg and Lucas explain away the corniness of the Indy and Starwars series as homages to Saturday/Sunday matinee shows, Sky Captain doesn't even bother homaging, it just sets out to be one, plain and simple. The greatest, silliest one ever made, with 100' killer robots, blatant Nick Fury/Helicarrier rip-offs (seriously, pre-bugfuck Angelina Jolie in an eyepatch and SS-snappy military uniform? I'll be in my bunk), spitfires, airships, rayguns and the post-humous disembodied head of Sir Laurence Olivier... what's not to like?

Leprechaun in the Hood was fucking awesome. It was a movie that knew it was inherently full of shit and just ran with it. I knew it was going good places as soon as Ice T pulled that baseball bat out of his afro to fight the leprechaun at the beginning.

I don't know if I'd call it a bad movie in the typical "deserves the MST3K treatment" sort of way, though. It's not like they tried to make a serious movie and instead accidentally cranked out something that was hilarious for it's ineptitude. Leprechaun in the Hood was deliberately written to wring as much humor out of it's ridiculous premise as it could, and was competently executed for a B movie.

And it was popular enough that they sent the leprechaun back to tha hood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0339294/) two years later. No Ice T in that one though, and really it's the sort of joke you can only do once. The next one really should have been Leprechaun in the Old West or something.

Flesh Gordon - yea, we thought we were pretty cool watching that movie in our teens. But at that age, few things are funnier than penis shaped space ships.

Movie had one great scene in it. When the Sinbad style animated giant falls off the building, his laid-back exclamation of "Oh, fuck" - made a room full of drunk teenagers laugh for hours.

The sequal to Flesh Gordon is painfully bad.

I can't think of too many right now, except The Pest, Roadhouse, and anything from the Troma label.

I was just bashing it because it was brought up. I like grim movies but I don't like movies like that or A Simple Plan where the whole point is to torture the characters.

Dark Star is a "good" bad movie if you haven't seen it.  And there are few scenes funnier than Burt Reynolds and the vaseline in his boots in Showgirls.

Err, deliberately awful? With that budget?

I know they thought they were trying for a sequel to Robocop (with bugs) mixed with Good Ol' Fashioned American Knowhow, but the whole thing was a fail. Too bright, too colorful, too happy, too everything-you-don't-do if you want to be taken serious. They were way beyond 6000SUX here, into some stupid space reserved for the likes of Cannonball Run 2 (gods I still hate that cartoon wrapup at the end).

And I don't even need to have liked the book to hate this movie. It was just a bad movie.

Yep.  Still very, very funny though.  Striptease and showgirls are both abominations.

If we're derailed into bad, bad movies that tried hard, Johnny Depp's Secret Window is up there.
