Too funny not to share. I liked Dwayne Johnson's last appearance on SNL; it's really too bad I missed his latest stint.

It's also sad he hasn't done a cool movie in quite some time since starting his career.

Love the Rock.  I used to be a wrestling fan back when he was still in the WWE. 

I think most of his movies are aimed too much at kids anymore.  He needs to get a real blockbuster action movie back  under his belt.

Also this skit was great and overall it was a decent SNL for him.  There are a few more clips on Hulu.com.

The Rock is after my time as a wrestling fan (Hulk, Hitman, Randy Savage, etc), and when I first saw him with the whole "People Champion's"/eyebrows/"Can you smell what the Rock is cookin'?" schtick, I thought it was stupid. Until I saw that his signature move is the "People's Elbow". Then he became awesome.  :awesome_for_real:

The Game Plan was pretty good, and I enjoyed The Run Down but yeah, his career has been pretty sparse.  There's a shortage of roles for big muscly actors since the 80's and Arnold.  We get skinny wiry action heroes now.

We just watched that SNL off the DVR last night, I was cracking up. Great concept, and Dwayne actually pulled off a decent impression (at first, anyway). I kinda wish they had done more with the skit, but maybe it's best they did it short and funny.

Also, I want to crack Andy "comedy genius" Samberg in the teeth with a bat. At least he's not the worst SNL member anymore with Elliot's untalented progeny and that godawful woman who's been featured for a while now. She sucks the funny out of any scene. I don't even know her name and she's been on a while.

I've like him since he's started doing films.  (Never watched much wrestling.)  He was great in Get Smart.

He has the right mix of being able to play things straight and being campy.

Eh, he amuses me.  His dumb look and dumb acting in the role just makes me crack up.  I can see why people would get annoyed with him though.  Kind of the same way with Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz.  Lots of love-hate from viewers with those two as well.  As far as the recent cast goes, I'd say this is the first time in a long time where most of the cast is actually funny in the majority of the shows.  I don't really find myself fast forwarding through bits near as much as I used to.  Not sure if this is a writing thing or not, as some material no matter how well acted can stink of lousy writing (much as the same as a lousy actor can really destroy a good script and concept).  There are really only 1-2 recurring bits that I tend to skip.

I would say andy samberg > jimmy fallon anyday. Samberg seems to have a good mind for comedy, even if it's an aquired type of it. Fallon just seems to have an ok delivery but is completely reliant on his writers and not cracking up on the jokes himself.

Some of the funniest shit to come out of SNL in recent memory was from Sandberg. I think it there may be some hate because he's more Jew than Adam Sandler. If you hate Andy Sandberg, then ask yourself... do I hate Jews?

I never seem to get into SNL until repeats. Used to love it back in the day, but after Mike Myers and Phil Hartman were gone, people like that, I lost interest. It wasn't until I saw a best of compilation of Will Ferrell did I start watching again. After he was gone, I lost interest again. Rinse, repeat.

Yeah, that's kind of how I see it.  It's really strange and bizarre, sometimes even delivered as such, but he at least seems to be relatively creative with his group of friends in making his own style of comedy.

I liked Fallon and Sanz because they couldn't keep a straight face and everyone just turned skits into trying to get them to laugh, or make their fake mustaches fall off. I have seen nothing Samberg has done that I've liked, I mean Cathy? And once again, Timberlake comes in and rescues him. Timberlake is the comedic genius in that group of friends. Although I guess I'll give you the Fallon reference because Timbo saved Fallon's bacon all the time, too. As my fiancee says, too bad comedy pays shit, Timberlake is the funniest guy on SNL.

I've heard Wiig is an acquired taste, but she pretty much makes the show for me now that Poehler's gone. Also love Fred Armisen. Either of those two elevate any skit they're in.

Good mind for comedy? Cathy? Lasercats? Endless shitty songs? The Chronicles of Narnia was more about Parnell, who has done some actually funny raps on the show before Samberg was featured. I guess I hate jews  :oh_i_see:

Jimmy Fallon and Horation Sanz are the anti-funny.

I really have not found many instances where SNL was funny after I was about 16.

Maybe I lost my sense of humor, or the last 15 years have been total shit.

Celebrity Jeopardy skits with Sean Connery had me rolling a few times. Other than that, yeah the new stuff all sucked.

You have to a watch a best of Ferrell then. Won me over at least. Harry Carey is just as funny as Trebek.

Yes, but that's because Ferrell carried the skits (and the show.) Molly Shannon? Not funny.  Rachel Dratch?  Not Funny.  The woman in the Cheerleader Sketch? Not Funny. Chris Kattan? Not Funny.

This is proven by their careers after they've left the show.  Tina Fey and Will Ferrell were the brightest stars out of the last 15 years.  Tim Meadows is also good, but suffers from being a black comic who does't want to be doing "Kings of Comedy" type stuff.. which is all we seem to accept out of Black Comics.

SNL is where Mediocre comics go to get a steady paycheck these days.

Darrell Hammond also.

Much like Phil Hartman,  Hammond played such an amazing straight-man/supporting character that he made everyone else look good, without getting much of the credit for teh funny.

I mean...  90% of the reason the Jeopardy skits were so good was Hammond's character in the skit (usually the buffonish version of Sean Connery). 

Hammond is good in an ensemble, or as supporting cast and knows it.  That's why he's stayed put for the last, what, 17 years?  Again, steady paycheck.

Not that he's not good at what he does, but he's not going anywhere without being forced out.

Samberg. No, you only hate a Jew if you hate him. Thankfully, he is not legion. The current tenured cast has had a long ride by the standards of the show. I'd like to see a batch of new faces.

I'm not really feeling the funny in this Rock Obama skit. It's gotten nothing more than a snicker out of me, and I love the Rock. He does do a decent Obama impression at first.

Skit would have been much funnier if he didn't inexplicably turn into a caveman.  He was doing a pretty decent Obama up to that point, and it would have been funny to see him being intimidating while in that persona.

Yeah, he really lost the impression, and it was good at first. Probably made the bit.
