Title: wondering if anyone here uses or has tried maxthon as a browser?
Post by: Stewie on March 06, 2009, 09:42:59 AM
Appearnlty it is based on IE but has a lot more customization/features.
It is also has a 30% market share in china.
I was just fiddling with it and wanted to know if anyone here has any experience with it or gripes about it.

No, but Safari 4 rocks and handles Chinese character viewing and input flawlessly.

Edit for a tad more clarity regarding my derail.

I don't know if you're aware, but what you said makes absolutely no sense in context.

As for Maxthon, a handful of neckbeards at GoDaddy used it, I tried it on my machine there, I can't see a reason to use it over anything else. There's nothing particularly notable about it as far as I could tell.

Isn't Maxthon just IE with more stuff built in?  We used to use this back in the IE 6 days so we could have IE with tabs.

No, it just uses the same Microsoft framework. It has its own unique security vulnerabilities.
