Title: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: slog on February 28, 2009, 05:48:27 AM I need some new Tunes to listen to during my cardio workouts. (I don't do music when I lift)
Give me suggestions!! Lately it's been lots of Green Day, Girl Talk, and Fatboy Slim. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: MahrinSkel on February 28, 2009, 05:52:35 AM Rob Zombie.
Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Oban on February 28, 2009, 06:02:47 AM Drive, a 45 minute song by The Crystal Method, or Running Man, a 43 minute song by A-Trak, both specifically for workouts.
Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: stray on February 28, 2009, 06:28:57 AM Chili Peppers. John Frusciante albums. Mostly steady beat across their songs. And it's just fun upbeat music, y'know.
Steady beat is basically what you're looking for though. Even Reggae works well for a chill workout, since most of the tempo is similar. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Nebu on February 28, 2009, 06:33:53 AM Mine is all up tempo stuff between pop, punk, and metal.
Green Day, Ramones, Chili Peppers, Scorpions, Romantics, etc. Anything with a defined and fast beat. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: photek on February 28, 2009, 07:27:06 AM Chemical Brothers and Prodigy are awesome for workout. I enjoy quite a lot of UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ (4x4 technobeat) or house / electro as it is called for workouts, something like this :

I just actually watched it, and was like damn wtf. :| Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Tale on March 02, 2009, 02:47:20 AM This song is kickass for my cadence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadence_(cycling)) while cycling hard and fast, which is my workout: Broken Social Scene - Bandwitch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv-ISen-UTQ) (linking for the music, not the unrelated video, which is also awesome).
If I'm fading or need to get out of the saddle and go harder, the "Here we fucking go" chorus starting at 1:58 (even better at 2:23) in this song is awesome: Glasvegas - Go Square Go (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gr2YrjWXZk). Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Azaroth on March 02, 2009, 04:21:13 AM Am I the only person that hates music?
I also work out regularly, and found that using music as a crutch to give me some energy always made it harder to work out WITHOUT the music. As such, the workout music stopped. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Tale on March 02, 2009, 04:33:06 AM I don't listen to music while cycling (having an ipod in your ears while cycling on a public road is fucking stupid). But the songs that work are in my head.
Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Yoru on March 02, 2009, 04:42:01 AM Am I the only person that hates music? I also work out regularly, and found that using music as a crutch to give me some energy always made it harder to work out WITHOUT the music. As such, the workout music stopped. Yo. I don't specifically listen to my own music at the gym as I find it easier to concentrate on my form while lifting without it. When resting, I just listen to whatever's on the overhead speakers at the gym, which is always FM 95.7. I don't think I've ever heard a radio station play Numa Numa so many times a week before. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: stray on March 02, 2009, 05:55:20 AM I listen if I'm doing cardio, which is probably what most people here are talking about. You don't need to concentrate on form there.
I lift in short bursts, with little resting periods, and my body shifting around to different positions. An iPod or something would just get in a way. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Nebu on March 02, 2009, 06:20:37 AM I listen to music while lifting. It drowns out all of the grunts and yells (at least for me). After 30 years of lifting, I don't have to concentrate on form so much.
By the way, German volume training is the shit. I've busted through a plateau with it recently and it's a great system if you deal with pain well. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: stray on March 02, 2009, 07:06:57 AM From what I understand, it's heavy weight focused?
I might not need something like that (not yet). I need to bulk up with useless muscle. :why_so_serious: Doesn't heavy weight focus on building up more strength? where every smallest fiber in the area is strained and brought into play.. while lower weight/high reps makes the primary/visible muscles stressed the most? [edit] sorry if that sounds ignorant, i'm still trying to understand this.. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: DraconianOne on March 02, 2009, 07:49:01 AM Am I the only person that hates music? I also work out regularly, and found that using music as a crutch to give me some energy always made it harder to work out WITHOUT the music. As such, the workout music stopped. Depends where I am and my mood. I would listen to music while doing weights because invariably I hated the insipid shite that would normally be playing on whatever music channel was playing at the time. I used to listen to music while running but stopped and found that my running generally improved. I am considering listening to audiobooks/podcasts which has been recommended for long distance training. Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: K9 on March 02, 2009, 12:35:43 PM The new prodigy album is really really good.

Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: DraconianOne on March 03, 2009, 01:22:10 AM Found a playlist that I used to use for high tempo running and also listened to when I got my 5km PB a few years ago. Not sure I'd use the same list now and I'd definitely re-order.
Quote Gave Up - Nine Inch Nails Aisha - Death In Vegas Stigmata - Ministry Forkboy - Lard Heuldoch 9B (Panacea Mix) - Foetus Whiteout - Killing Joke Religion (Burn You Down) - Front 242 After The Flesh - Thrill Kill Kult Long Hard Road Out of Hell - Marilyn Manson Burn - Nine Inch Nails Take It Outside, Godboy - Foetus We Shall Be Changed - Cop Shoot Cop Confusion (Blade Soundtrack) - New Order Tracks I'd add to that list now: Sugar - System of a Down Caprice - Prong Blue Monday - Orgy cover Devil Cock - Revolting Cocks Dead of Winter (Hypothermic Mix) - Frontline Assembly (for warmup) Title: Re: Non Sucky Workout music Post by: Sky on March 03, 2009, 08:57:36 AM Did y'all miss where he said non-sucky?
