Title: Reliable Fitting Advice
Post by: NiX on January 18, 2009, 04:01:53 PM
I know most of you saw the title and are coming in here just to say "Goon Wiki!", but I'm looking for a PvE setup that isn't for high-end ratting. I don't have the skills to run a full T2 Rapture. Question is, are there reliable places to look for fitting advice when it comes to making PvE boats?

Ob. Goon Wiki.

What type of ships, Caldari? Minmatar?

For caldari ships - shield tank, maximise resists and then get a bit of buffer ... (missiles don't eat up much cap, so you can active tank)
For other ships - passive tank as much as possible.

I just got my Rupture, but I can't find a fitting anywhere for PvE that doesn't require high end skills to fit T2 items.

And now I'll try putting this in the correct thread...

If you go into evemon and browse by ship type there will be a link beside the ship portrait to battleclinic.com for the most highly rated ship loadouts.  A lot of the stuff there is "theorycrafting" and therefore worthless but you can often see fittings with lowskill in the title that might be good.  You can click on another link to see the discussion on the page itself.  Evemon will tell you the bare minimum skillset you would need to fly them as fitted.

That said the more popular ratting ships do have PvE loadouts on the goonwiki, often lowskilled ones specific to our angel rats.  I don't think minmatar are very popular PvE ships so continuing down that line if you want to rat for money might be interesting, their ships are also much more skill intensive as to be effective you need gun, missile and drone skills.  Maybe just switch over to caldari for a while, they seem to have usefull lower skill fittings for the caracal and drake.

Use meta-level 3 or 4 instead of T2, and see if this works for you in EFT ?

Spend a day or two training Battlecruiser III and get into a hurricane.  Much, much better for PvE.

I just finished all the training for a Rupture. You love crushing my soul, Phildo.

The skillset for rupture and hurricane are identical, Nix.  Battlecruisers use cruiser-sized fittings, just more of them.

No.

You're pretty much best off doing it yourself.

Figure out what damage types your enemies are doing, then figure out how best to deal with it. AB's are very good for avoiding damage from battleships. Specific hardeners and reps with enough cap is next, then guns and maybe a web depending on how far you think you need to be and how slow your enemies are going.

Drones are going to be Ex, kin, or thermal(never EM, never ever EM) depending on enemy type. Ditto ammo.

Training for a hurricane or cyclone is probably a good idea. The skill set is identical for a cyclone or hurricane and they perform a lot better.

Cyclones will rat angels better since they have the shield tank bonus and shields have a better base resist set. Hurricanes anything else.

You know I kid, Phil. Thanks for the advice. Thought there would be a ton more skills, apparently just BC. Aside from the normal Drone skill, what other drone skills should I pick up?

Interfacing, durability, sharpshooting navigation, scout drone op and combat drone op should do it for now.  It's not as bad as it looks.

Estimate is 7 days. Not too bad.

I haven't really been messing with learning skills. I have most at 3, should I spend the time to get them to 4? I have eidetic and logic sitting bought already.

You need to get all your basics to 4 and the advanced to 3, it'll speed things up quite a bit.

As for fitting, put lasers and rockets on a hurricane, there isn't an enemy alive that can withstand that kind of rape.

Lasers? That means new skills.

Scrapheap isn't bad if you're completely lost.  Don't take anything there as gospel of course but at least you shouldn't end up like the Navy Raven pilot with no tank, cap recharge, nanos and light missile launchers from the comedy killmails thread.

Trolling eve fitting threads is stupid. The game is a mind melt as it is, no need to be a dick. Just cause you can't play doesn't mean you have to ruin it for the rest of us :oh_i_see:

Remember that time where I was all "hey, you should put lasers and rockets on your hurricane!" and you were all "aww man, more skills!?"

That was awesome.

There's FtM, MtF post and pre-Op so you can't really generalise.

Nix is just making excuses as to why he's afraid to punch me in the dick.  You see, my dick is so big that it has it's own dick, and my dick's dick is bigger than his.  As such, if he attempted to punch me in the dick, one of the dicks would invariable intercept said blow, and punch him right back.

Add that to your flowchart, motherfucker.

Scrapheap (http://www.scrapheap-challenge.com/index.php?c=4&sid=f77857256ba4eed221e7401e1b40fc2c) isn't bad if you're completely lost.

Just, for your own sanity's sake, stay the fuck away from every board there except the fittings ones  :awesome_for_real: (url added to quote btw).

Nerf you may want to go see a Doc about this, sounds to me like you have genital warts!
