Oh yes, Nielsens. Because a one-week diary system by a semi-self-selected pool of people is a great way to judge this stuff.

Well when we're talking about played time rather than downloads or sales then any metric is likely to be self selecting. I know it's no more scientific than X-fire stats or whatever, I was just amused at the breakdown.

Nielsen, the slayer of quality TV rears its ugly head and gets games into its sight?

Oh dear, or better yet, fuck off and die.

Massively gets in on the review action (http://www.massively.com/2008/12/29/gamerdna-and-massively-look-back-at-the-mmo-year-in-review/). Features charts!

I am so glad I never got into writing that kind of stuff. Though I should've taken a chance to make some of my quotes GIANT in my articles to make them seem super real and important.

You can tell the results are bogus because of the Valve game relative rankings:

I honestly don't think you could do it.  You might get a paragraph or two of copy out before you went off to stab someone.  You know, like anyone else who would have some sense of decency.

I don't have any decency and am considering an article reviewing 2008.  Should be ready by June.  Charts might add a couple weeks.

The steam stats are fun just to see shit like:
Quote
0       1             Onimusha 3
0    1         Hitman: Codename 47
0    1         Spore: Creepy and Cute Parts
0    1         Earth 2160

Meanwhile, there are 6 players on Steam playing the latest version of Elf Bowling. Yes, that Elf Bowling that got e-mailed to you back in 2001.
