Title: Brick Post by: pxib on December 24, 2008, 12:41:56 AM Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cVzHeJ0Z3I)
A pitch perfect 1930's noir in a 21st century highschool. Every aspect it touches, it masters. Plus it's funny. I watched it twice in a row... had to invite some friends over to share. Title: Re: Brick Post by: Margalis on December 24, 2008, 12:54:22 AM A film podcast I listen to (I think it was Filmspotting) has named their pimping of undiscovered gems the "Brick Awards" after this movie. Have not seen it yet myself.
Title: Re: Brick Post by: Samwise on December 24, 2008, 12:56:26 AM Yeah, fucking awesome movie.
In the commentary, the director explains that he set it in a high school because he wanted to make a real noir film, not a self-aware satire of a noir film, and the only way he thought a modern audience would be receptive to that would be if he "disguised" the noir conventions by putting them in a different setting. Title: Re: Brick Post by: voodoolily on December 24, 2008, 11:02:24 AM It was pretty good, but the era-specific dialog feels a little obnoxious after awhile.
Title: Re: Brick Post by: FatuousTwat on December 24, 2008, 12:35:10 PM I loved this movie. Only bad thing IMO is that it took for ever for it to come to DVD after I heard about it.
Title: Re: Brick Post by: ashrik on December 24, 2008, 06:00:36 PM Amazing film, and well worth the watch. I hope you all enjoy it
Title: Re: Brick Post by: Jack9 on December 26, 2008, 03:08:16 AM One of my favorite indies. Commentary was as good and introspective as Donnie Darko and Equilibrium's.
